@@edison4eva he doesn't like the fact that he's blind to overshadow his skill, he prefers that everyone judges his skill as it is, not because he's blind So yes, a lot of important briefings are intentionally avoided in these cases
Frustrating is put very politely :D Johnny doesn't even understand he's supposed to mix the stack into the rest of the remaining deck, THEN hand a part to Richard :D
Richard has got to be one of the most impressive card magicians/mechanics/handlers that ever lived on this planet! Plus he seems like an amazing person too! Absolutely love all his work, it almost seems impossible
Can’t believe I’ve gotten so far in life without ever knowing about this absolute legend. I just learned about this remarkable man today on a doc I saw on Hulu. A truly mysterious ability he has. I can watch this guy for hours. I’m sitting here thinking how little I’m capable of 😂😂😂
As always, you're the best Mr. Turner. I'm currently working on my Gene Maze style strike bottom deal... weird grip, BUT it's becoming more comfortable as the days and weeks go forward. Anyway, you are an inspiration to anyone who is a serious student of card mechanics. I wish you and yours happiness. Thanks for everything.
Richard being blind has made him better at cards because he was not tethered by anyone else’s thoughts or actions. He has his own style that only he can do and that’s why he’s the best
Richard’s stories about people approaching him are like something out of a satirical novel. I believe him. He’s a man of integrity as, from all indications, he hasn’t bowed. In my opinion he is the greatest card sharp/mechanic that we will ever see. It makes me wish I could see footage of the legendary Dad Stevens. I would assume some of his work utilizes riffle stacking, and it makes me wonder where he ranks in this regard “skill wise” (if it could be measured). Darwin Ortiz, from what I have seen, is the greatest exponent of riffle stacking that I’m aware of. The double duke run-up he demonstrates in Card Cheating is incredible. I stumbled across an interesting application in Marlo’s Riffle Shuffle Systems, and have tried my hand at it. It’s great.
@@farout166 2k a day isn't like 60k per month. 2k per daily session who knows how many sessions they have in a month, but I doubt that it is like every day.
Except his stories are 100% true and if you watch his documentaries/do your research you can confirm it yourself. Eg, him driving a motorcycle blind and getting pulled over, has documentation and pictures showing it really did happen. Do you really think that if he was dealing for a mafia game he wouldn't be able to keep his cool and not act as boisterous? By your same logic that means he can't sit still long enough for his appearances in hollywood movies where he plays a dealer. @@farout166
@@TripleTreuViet If you listen to Richard he talks about how he would practice 10-20 hours a day, and sink 10,000-20,000 hours into learning something. Yes he has natural talent, but to say that this is something he was born with takes away from the sheer dedication this man has. You can learn it, but most people won't dedicate that amount of time
I’m starting to believe you can’t do this UNLESS if you are blind. I’m a casino cards dealer and the majority of people that play their hands blind with me win...
1)He has a "feel" for every card in the deck 2)He is a master at "dealing second", meaning when he knows the next card will be a good one, he can simply deal the card beneath it. I know that he does it but it is still not possible to observe.
Is the key to his mechanics," everything is by touch?" Perhaps the cards are marked by feel. Since most of us don't understand that sense as well as he does, we overlook the simplicity of feel since we use sight.
I have a feeling that if someone told me how he does this i'd likely be even more impressed. But i really prefer not to know. i prefer the Wow factor!! And even if i knew how, i imagine I could not replicate it, unless maybe i had 50 years of perfected focus and dedication.
He sands, bends, and files his cards to give them all a unique feel. That as a blind man with an extra heightened sense of touch only he notices. Still absolutely amazing to watch. You can see an example of this by how he knew that card was a queen before being told 3:59. He could feel what every card in that deck was, faster then you could see it. Watch Penn's Magic Support, he knows Richard Turner personally and explains how he preps his decks. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rKFMa-GH0bQ.html
That still wouldnt explain how he does it watch when bananas shuffles and hands back only a few cards he starts dealing straight away making sure number 4 gets the best card so how does he do that part of tjhe trick?
@@matrixstrobe1176 he can feel what every card is. It's basically like handing you the cards face up. Richard sees with his hands, he's says so himself. If you handed him a fresh deck out of your pocket, he'd be screwed. Richard's decks take days of preparation before he can use them.
@@flyingchimp12 then Johnny isn't getting any aces... He makes a superior hand, he made no claims about what cards would be in that hand, for good reason. He never says "I'm gonna give you 5 aces" he asks you to pick a position on the table and says "watch your hand will win" Johnny could have won with a pair of 2's and the trick still has the same effect. Lots of magicians will roll with things when lucky coincidence strikes, like Johnny handing him a stack of cards containing the 1 eyed jack. Then they reveal that 'wow' factor card last, it's all about presentation.
Why would Richard be banned from casinos? The gamblers don't handle the cards, and he's blind, he can't see what's dealt to him. He would need someone to tell him what his cards are. He shouldn't be able to cheat.
i'm trying to understand this, i can't think of a way this is done without a tampered deck. shaved down edges for important cards or light adhesive on the edges or maybe different scents? because each card should feel exactly the same, i mean unless they are engraved or embossed this would be impossible right?
Richard Turner can feel the difference of weight in the amount of ink used on the different cards- you could give him a regular deck of cards with one missing, and just by holding it he could tell you that the deck was missing a card by that small difference in weight alone, and which one it is. He's studied under the best magicians and practiced for hours a day for over 40 years. His fingers and sense of touch really are just that good
@@Pastaphemus come on.. that would be micro grams of difference.. maybe less. maybe his public relations guy cooked that up but magicians aren't exactly known for being truthful about their methods.
According to what he said on his Penn and Teller appearance, he hasn’t missed a workout in something like 40 years. He is truly the most motivated individual that I’ve ever seen. It even tops or matches the motivation of the legendary Michael Jordan.
That guy in the left should be fired. From where you ask? Just fired. From any job that involves speakin. Get him away from a mic, just dont let him talk ever again please.
John: "How are you allowed in Vegas?" Richard: "I'm not unless I stay away from the card tables." Later. John: "You and me need to take a trip to Vegas." What a clown show.
How the HELL does richard do this? Like i get it he can feel microscopic thibgs with his fingers and move the cards however he wants but like when people shuffle his deck how the HELL does he find or know where the cards are!?!?!?
