Ritchie Faulkner has been a true inspiration for me a not only a Judas Priest fan, but a guitar player. I love his style and technique. I have also seen him in many interviews and he is a classy stand up guy. Class all the way, as he knows how good he has it and didn’t forget where he came from .🤘🤘RF
from time to time just coming back to see master Faulkner rip those Pickups...they sound so 80s with his playing...glad to see EMG reviews which are not only chuggy metal tuned in drop A
The first time i saw this guy was when he played with Lauren Harris. I remember thinking "that guitarist was killer", that was 9 years ago. Now hes with priest and ive seen him once more and guess what. He still rips :)
So Myung Jung Any person with basic audio experience can make any solo sound like 1 take. See: any record ever. Now, not to say some aren't one take, but the point is to make it impossible to tell if it is or isn't.
Of course they can... I'm a recording engineer and there's a point where you can tell when its fake and when is not. In this case, I don't think that's the case where they fake it.
What ? are you serious..? Paaaleeeze. Tell ya what listen to this again, then directly after listen to Zakk's version and the difference in clarity is like nigh and day. I like Richie but to say he is a RR is a huge stretch .
I really admire players who aren't too dependent on the whammy bar and string dampeners..so pure...Looks like this dude belongs to the school of Marty Friedman and Alex Skolnik....but his playing is Michael Schenker with a lil bit of Paul Gilbert no doubt...You can tell this is an impromptu playing, but his fingers are so damn automatic, not many people can do that! the mark of a great guitar player
Yeah, I fucking hate guitar players who wank the whammy bar too much, it's a lazy way create a ''resting point'' in your solos, totally uncreative, repetitive and boring (cough Satriani cough) while fixed bridge players have no choice but to hit those notes all the time, Marty Friedman uses these resting points cleverly in all of his solos, that's why I really admire his playing...A whammy bar can be a useful creative tool as long as there is a musical value on top of it...but if you only use it as a tension/stress reliever or a helpline to buy time (ie harmonics-divebomb-harmonics-pull etc), then fuck....You belong to the school of Kerry King
+Kenny Ken All you cats SAID IT! I mostly keep the bars to help W/ tuning stability, I yank on .10's pretty hard. Still going back to The stopended well soon over a Dean V.
@@conradfincher8876... Slower than Zakk, but more acurate ... Zakk play harder, but he turns circle. To me, Zakk is musicaly redundant. Seems to me Faulkner share more ressemblances with Randy Rhoads than Zakk. Also, I don't hear Schenker at all. To my humble opinion, I place Faulkner above both Zakk and Schenker just because I prefer to hear Faulkner.
4:36 he does that a few times on these tracks. I thought it was legato until here. It is 1/16th note gallops which is where the pick attack is coming through and the slight pause between patterns. I think it sounds BA. Also, take note Hammett, this how a wah should be used. I'm becoming a Ritchie fan since his work with Priest is confining and derivative, for obvious reasons.
Hey Richie Great Playing! The 57 Flying "V" was designed in 1957, but wasn't released until 1982. Technically the 1958 Gibson Flying "V" was the 1st. Flying "V" Guitar on the Market in 1958.
He mentioned Zakk Wylde as a major influence and boy oh boy is that evident... He's honestly a more well rounded guitarist than Zakk and many others... dude is so sick though I like him better than KK Downing to be truthful... \..../\m/\..../\m/\..../\m/\..../\m/
better rounded guitarist than zakk.. huh ever heard Z play this track lol...Zakk can play anything Richie can, but Rich cant touch Zakk... from British metal to Southern metal dont forget whose doing the influencing and who is being influenced... anytime someone put's the term "honestly" in front of something look out lol..
I'd like to see all the haters who put this down just come into the studio and solo over this track in one take like Richie did. You couldn't do it, so shut the f**k up. Always negativity abounds. If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all.
Did you just tell everybody to shut the fuck up, and then right after it say there's always negativity, and that if they have nothing good to say, say nothing at all? How is telling people to shut the fuck up not negative? How is that something good to say? Also, why do you think you're entitled to censor anybody who criticizes it? Fuck, if only positive opinions were allowed at all times nothing would ever get a bad review. You're a fucking idiot.
Fisrst of all, you don't have to be a master of an art to criticize it. If someone writes a song that's shit, I'm gonna say so. Even if it's way better than what I could have done.
Holy shit kiddos this is literally the first take improv to a track he's never heard. It's hardly gonna be inspired. Functional is really all you could expect. I doubt Paul Gilbert could have done it better.
Great playing. I know people will rip me for this, but I don't like his tone. Maybe it's the wah or room acoustics, but he sounds nasally. Never played the 57/66. Is that the way they sound? If so, sorry if I offended anyone.
They usually sound 'richer', there might be a ceramic version & a alnico perhaps? Gotta see their website. I suspect a pre-BS tone was dialed for a Classic cut.
