I would come here in the 90 s with my friend to visit his family; this place was crawling with fiends walking around everywhere in the day time... shit was crazy never seen nothing like that.
You covered quite a bit of the hoods in the the Rich, grew up in the city. Narf Richmond was a legit million dollar spot back in the days. Greetings from Portland Oregon
i ain't gonna lie, as a kid in the early 90s, i remember feelin' anxious being drivin' through parts of richmond to get to the asian markets. It's MUCH better today, or at least the veneer looks much better!
Yeah it became better as the years progressed. A lot of that has to do with the size of it too. Richmond is the smallest mid-sized city of the bay with under 110k population. If you look closely at that, it averaged more than 40 murders per year back in the day and people were getting time from left to right. Add in gentrification which goes for a lot of the bay including Oakland, SF, East Palo Alto, Vallejo, etc the numbers start to drop.
You shoulda bang that left in went to 15th in chanslor murder blk dead end or to 5th in Nevin Deep C, or Cresent Park, Manor, Maine Line, Tz you missed hella hoods
Im in Richmond, Ca but grew up in El Cerrito, Ca. We hung out at Eastshore park & Stege school back in the day (1965-1980). Lived on Cypress. Penny Market or George store
When I was a kid I lived in the rich, saw the streets of the ghetto influenced my life as a ghetto millionaire. 30 years later I go back n look to see of what could of been my life without the streets of the town.
@@johndavis9321 They got a small section of Projects with people from all over. Mainly North Richmond. Pojects in Norf got closed down and they relocated the residents to the Projects in Rodeo
I’m from South central Los Angeles but I got folks in Richmond. Definitely not somewhere to mess around without knowing somebody. Salute to da Nolia! That’s the N.O. In CA fasho
I fucks wit my south central homies and the palm tree lined streets and them beautiful former suburban houses and shit is nice and the Mexican food be bussin and shit and respects from Vallejo even I used to live in the Bella vista and summit projects over at Richmond my whole entire life and shit
I havent lived in the Bay like 20 years but growing there, this was one of the bad spots. Frisco had hoods. Oaklsnd. EPA. Vallejo. I dont know what's going on over there now. That's why I'm here. Lol
Boy This Bring Me Back 21st Street East In East Oakland And Tha Mid Town & Tha Gardens In East Palo Alto . . . ALWAYS LET EM KNOW THAT THE TOWN IZ HOME
Back in the early 2000s Richmond was dangerous. Used to play at Burnt Ramen along with all the east bay punk bands. Crazy times. Then Ghost ship fire happened in Oakland and the spot was shut down by the city
I remember seeing this place in the 1990's from the freeway, it looked like a 3rd world country. now it looks like a working class suburb, such a tragedy
Facts... Richmond was cold, a lot of shootings, robberies, bodies droppin consistently. All of the rising rappers out there ended up getting killed, atmosphere was spooky.
The skies are true blue. The fog wafts in across the Golden Gate. It gets cold in the Summertime. When we were there, we'd run the heater almost all year 'round. Good stuff.
Next time you come to the Rich get a tour guide so we can show you how to wiggle through the Rich. FYI you got Richmond on a good day with no activity. Oh and on the 4:34 mark you can see my red jeep parked at the park I was at youth football practice
My homie Rico was from here. He was killed at 18. Richmond,CA was a killing field bacc in early 2000s.. Whole lotta murders. R.I.P Rico from nickel block🙏
@@WillAnderson3rd right now yeah but still over 10 active gangs and in the 80s Pasadena has several streets really popping off and more dangerous than most of the cities in the county right under Compton and watts of course that’s why Dre and Tupac mentioned Pasadena so much.
@@WillAnderson3rd and to get this right there are 7 district parts of Pasadena and only 2 of them have over 5 million dollar houses on average. Because anywhere in sgv or next to la it’s gonna be an average of 750k to 1 million to live in the ghetto/hood
Love to Pasadena CA. I useta live out there in the early 2000s. Go up Lake and bust that left on Washington Ave and let me know if y'all don't see no real ones out there. Love 👌🏿💯
I use to deliver phone books at 1am wit my sis tossin them out the back of my pickup 🤣 even smack my girl by one of them parks, because I couldn’t at my grandmas house😅
I agree , since moving to California 2 years ago I visited Richmond several times just to see what the deal was from watching older rap videos in the 90’s BUT we could easily tell it has calmed down a lot....just like most places it was worse in the 80’s & 90’s....
@@BayArea15 Brah even now it’s worse than Richmond California. Richmond Virginia is 11th in the country about to be in the top 10 again and how they’re projecting it they could be in the top 5 again since the early 2000s. Richmond California is 39th in the country.
Man these outta state commenters have to live in the hood out here for a year or 2 to get the picture. A video and google maps or a vacation aint gonna do it.. you have to be here when the shit pop and i aint from the bay but everybody know they on they shit
@@fuckthisgayshit well I’m not from Cali so how can I tell them because I would and it’s not about acting tuff I just know how to live in the hood and be careful
From the beginning of the video to around 5:16 was between Foodco and behind Nystrom not front part. He stayed over there hella long. That's just one area.
I Remodeled the plumbing at Nystrom and Lincoln in the 90s,worked at Sealy mattress I. 1984 ,and 1980 Mastercraft tune up next to Hands liquor on 23rd.Worked at the big Social security bldg red brick 6 stories .Then another City hall job 2007 ,and big lab dept of health across freeway from Easter hill.
CALI PROBABLY GOT THE MOST ACTIVE CITIES FOR A SINGLE STATE IN AMERICA.... SOUTH CENTRAL LA / WATT'S COMPTON LONG BEACH INGLEWOOD LYNWOOD CARSON HAWTHORNE GARDENA EAST L.A PASADENA LANCASTER / PALMDALE SAN BERNARDINO COLTON RIALTO FRESNO BAKERSFIELD SAN DIEGO SAN FRANCISCO OAKLAND VALLEJO STOCKTON SAN JOSE RICHMOND SACRAMENTO
@@D_a_yyy can't argue with the fact that's its really just one big state driving from norcal to so cal is like driving from New York to Tennessee or something
My regards, brother. My name is Jamie, I am I am in a wheelchair. I am making my documentary of my life and what it means to be in a wheelchair. I was in Los Angeles in skid row living, I want to request your authorization of this video to be able to place it for a few minutes in my documentary. please. I would place your name on the credits. please. without more, I appreciate your answer. Sincerely Jamie.
Born, raised and left except to visit my parents. looks the same though. 1980-1993. It wasn't too bad then, the bay area still had quality jobs for people. Things started looking up when National Park Service moved in. That makes me happy. and We are home to the oldest and most famous park ranger.
Yea it's gotten better trust me, Richmond is really bad,, If you hang around the park trails or parks around nightime or before it gets dark someone will come around looking to kill some shit
Richmond fucking sucks still to this day, crime rate somewhat has gone down but overall its still the same shit. North Richmond has to be one of the most dangerous places. Point Richmond is where it's at. Not much violence and really calm living.
I was in jail for 5 days in Richmond back in 2006. It was actually "nice" for a jail... big couches and big screen tv's,private bathrooms, private shower. almost like a freakin college dorm! but this part got me,they had in the main open area,by showers and bathrooms,a few sinks with mirrors and on the wall next to each one A CURLING IRON... like... how is that a good idea, EVER lol
@La'Quantayviondre Aka Captain Save A Woman oh... last time I've been in North Richmond was at least 25 years ago as a meter reader. a lot of good folks out there.
Looks like an actual safe neighborhood(in some areas). Houses not bad, a park filled with people which im assuming a game is taking place. Still that San Fran hood looked better
always some out of towner saying CA hoods look safe, because they aren't filled with abandoned and boarded up buildings like some of the east coast and midwest ones. But abandoned buildings aren't out there committing the crimes that give a neighborhood its reputation....people do that lol
Dayum Richmond has sure changed since 2014, i remember being in that area where that small park is with my boys. Heard the culture the same.. They got british people in Richmond from what i heard tho lol. That town well known fasho.
