the punchline of the gaslighting joke is the anchor saying "you made it up because you're fucking crazy" showing that he is currently gaslighting her by denying the very existence of gaslighting. it was actually quite the opposite of 'problematic'. a damn good joke in fact

Morty going through that big change near the end was a anime reference to the show Akira.

When a person says "Animé?????" after watching the most Akira episode ever of Rick and Morty, clearly, society has failed them.

The anime Rick his talking about is Akira from 1988 its considered a classic. Rick and Morty often make fun of old TV shows and movies. Bird person is a parody of the Hawk from a late 70s TV show called Buck Rodgers

"Can we talk about how they call themselves Sparrow and Condor?" .......you have no idea what you've brought upon yourself.................. So, I like animals, and after a few times watching this show I started to think about that joke, 'cuz first watch through, I love animals, I was lowkey super touched by that; but eventually like - ..... Sparrow and Condor.....? Obviously that's a pretty big species gap [and.....size gap.... 0.0] but also, I'm pretty sure those two birds don't get along. So I went looking it up expecting to disillusion this touching random joke buuuuuuuuuutt....... There are two main types of Condor. One lives around California. That kind likes to hunt small, live birds like, say, Sparrows. Which is where my mind went. Like "that's cute, but he's plotting on eating you, hun" But the other main type of condor...... Well that's an Andean condor, native to, you guess it, the Andes Mountains, and that kind is more of a scavenger, it doesn't like to hunt, stalk, ambush nor eat small live birds - and according to her, they spent time in Peru. The Andes Mountains range into Peru I have NO idea if they could possibly have actually gone to the trouble of looking that up, or else have a writer who knows their geobiology, but that "joke" actually scans. Those pet names actually work. She could be the little Sparrow who saw a big condor and oo he's so scary, except this one is just a big softie, and now they're goin steady; it totally works As a huge animal lover, I may never get over how much I adore that

I thought the gaslighting joke was that the woman gaslights the guy by denying what she just did to him right after she did it. Then the silly guy goes on to deny gaslighting, which he was accusing her of doing to him just a second ago, and begins to gaslight her himself.🤣

Just so you know, Season 5 is supposedly coming WAY earlier than 2022. In fact by the time S4 finished, over half of S5 was already animated and done. Thank Adult Swim for pre-ordering something like 70 Episodes after S3 instead of the typical modus operandi of just waiting it out and then doing 10.

During the episode they mentioned Akira twice, which is a popular old anime movie and the part Morty goes nuts is a parade of that

Akira, the show references it with the blob-monster final boss kind of deal and it's an Anime. I think an award winning one too so it's something to consider watching just on it's own merit.

The "anime stuff happening to my son" was because the episode referenced the anime movie Akira near the end. Also the news anchor was gaslighting his co-host by telling her gaslighting doesn't exist, so not a sincere sentiment of the writers.

I'm all for reaction videos but with this show it's such a buzzkill since so many miss a good amount of jokes.
