I've been a Smith's fan since 82. I think this is great. Good on Rick and the Blossoms. Brilliant all around. Had it not been for Covid I would have flown from Canada to the UK for this.
@@simonwitts the Hip were Canada's answer to the Smiths kind of...REM...maybe? Such a tight band, beautiful songs and Gord (RIP) was such a talented raconteur. Also really popular in the bordering U.S. states due to radio play. You've got great taste in music. Because of the Astley / Blossoms Smiths event, i discovered The Blossoms. Great band. 95% of what i listen to is UK based...mainly Manc bands, but lots out of Scotland and Ireland too. Cheers.
I will have to give The Blossoms a listen then. I've seen many acts live, Bowie, Smiths, Japan, PIL, REM, etc., but nothing came close to seeing the Tragically Hip, in UK and Canada. How they never made it big outside of Canada remains a mystery. But the affection the crowd at the Smiths cover was very special, I can see that.
I was so lucky to see them live in London, tonight. Gorgeous! Such a great experience - and so much fun! ❤️ And honestly, Rick did such a great job. Of course, he is not Morrissey in his mid-twenties, but he is Rick Astley and over 50 years old. But: You couldn’t get much closer to the original. Very well-done, Rick! 👍🏻
Apparently Rick at 55 is still kinda rocking it. What can we say. Other than are his Genes available via the NHS. As he still looks incredible. . Not fair
Thank you for this. Life has come full circle for me 2023. From when I was a teen back in 1987.. all the music back then. So grateful for what life has given me.
I wish Morrissey cared about how much people love and want to hear Smiths songs. I'd be pretty proud. Rick Astley is a lovely guy, at least he loves the music. Makes people happy.
Yeah. To be honest 'The Blossoms' sounded, from what lve just watched via a number of Tube Channels were incredible. But unfortunately for the Rick~Rollin. Love the Guy but, clearly hasn't the vocal Morrissey range. Just saying. But enjoyable all the same. Viva Morrissey. Peace
This is weird and funny,… it’s like a really happy joyous smiths, part of liking the Smiths was the misery, teenage angst and desperation..,but hey, there you go.
I think it has always been a mix. Lot's of humour in the songs, and liking them has - I guess - often been a mix of "angst" and the joy of sharing it with others.
