Don Henley is worth $250 million... Is he going to be worth less if "his" music is shared far and wide? What about that tape recording I made off the radio when I was a kid... Is he going to take issue with that? I mean, I didn't pay for it. As time passes, because he locked his music away in a vault, and stomped on everyone who could have shared it with the younger generations, stomped on those who want to teach guitar, stomped on fans who may have never heard the music, his music will fade into the memory hole. Will he be satisfied with that? Hey Don, you can't take it with you when you go.. It was a gift to the world. You should embrace that, and reap the rewards for the rest of your time on earth. Last concert I went to was Chick Corea at a very small venue in St Louis,Jazz at the Bistro. My interesting cover of 'One of these nights' was removed from RU-vid after about a year. That was very disappointing, actualy I still get angry thinking about it. Why do that to me? It was succesfull and didn't harm anyone.
That really sucks. I’ve seen a couple Eagles covers go. One that I remember was Life In The Fast Lane performed by The Other Favorites, but it was a blues cover so it sounded nothing like the original, yet they still took down the video to claim those 3 cents. I think it was re-uploaded later on by someone else who liked the cover but not on Joshua’s channel like it originally was. I can see why people are scared to do Eagles covers
What the hell? What is Don afraid of, you Rick Beato are going to steal all the Eagles fans away? Or reduce the sales of his band's records by highlighting their songs and making potential fans aware of their music? It makes no sense to me! Is Don upset that getting 100% of any possible monetization you get for your time and effort to promote his music at no cost is just not enough? I think the Eagles are one of the greatest bands ever and I am saddened to find that Don is such a tight assed selfish person.

Beato doesn't;t whine about monetization. He knows those videos can't be monetized. He whines about those videos being blocked. Of course demonetized videos bring him money indirectly, let's not kid ourselves.
It's his intellectual property. No one else's. Ever since Napster, some people have felt entitled to steal music, books, films, etc and are affronted when they're called on it. Don Henley nor anyone else owes you a free ride. Pay your way like anyone else.

Beato’s point is he can’t make a simple content video about anything remotely addressing The Eagles music (if played , demonstrated or notated etc…) without legal ramifications from The Eagles legal team. They literally hire multiple firms to scour social media to seek unlicensed uploads etc. of their content. Which, in one way I can understand , but it’s 2024 , NOT 1996 etc. - it’s simply unrealistic for any Classic era artist to believe or expect that their material is going to be on total lockdown from any sort of access , other than a retail standpoint where they are making a profit ala sales. Beato is simply saying it’s totally ridiculous because Don Henley is estimated at being worth $250M - and that’s just what’s on paper via public inquiry- it’s probably 3x that. Beato is simply saying stop persecuting the little guy , who is actually doing them a favor by pointing out the quality of their work.

My first jazz album in 2009 was original compositions with Art Lande on piano, and Ron Miles on trumpet and did quite well (for a jazz album). Today I have no interest in touring as i have plenty of $$$. The lifestyle sucks playing for people like yourself for 5k per week. I still play a handful of dates per year with friends/people i like and admire. This year I will have a few on the west coast of the US, India, & France. Are you well versed in music outside of youtube hero worship? If you are not just mocking me then email me and we can set something up. Don Henley has a right to control who can use his art in any way he sees fit. If I owned a car for example, you couldn't just come into my driveway and take it for a drive without me granting you permission. If Don doesn't want people using his compositions without permission, that's his right. It does not make him an asshole.
Don Henley is a FAKE. Not only is he lipsyncing, he commited fraud by falsely accusing collecters in NY of theft. He should be on trial. Further it is not his product. The Eagles own it.
Not really the same, there are even laws around this, which means Don won't be able to do this infinite. Otherwise it would be impossible to classical music to even exist if any of the famous composers would been an asshole, but luckily its free use for all after 70 years, so even Don's shit songs will be covered one day without his approval or not!
