Rick Braun shared the the upbeat and trippy first single, “Feet First.” With a flair reminiscent of Herb Alpert, the danceable track is fueled by Braun’s muted trumpet and buoyant keyboards. Amping up the good vibes are Tony Pulizzi, who serves as house guitarist for Braun’s long-running livestream series, “Rick’s Café Live,” bassist Courtney Leonard, drummer Gorden Campbell and Lenny Castro on percussion.
Smooth Jazz Therapy said, "Rick Braun's self-titled album finds this multi-faceted performer in full creative overdrive...[it’s]an outstanding CD that, even at this early stage, promises to be one of the musical highlights of the smooth jazz year." Conceived during the pandemic, Braun recorded most of the self-produced album in his Los Angeles-area home studio. Roy McClurg served as executive producer.
