1986. A tiny bit of dropped audio at the beginning, but all in all, the quality is about how you'd expect it to be for a 27 year old VHS dub. Featuring some cool tunes and a ton of footage of Demper's rain delay antics.
Got to watch this yesterday and although I'm not from Maryland this was when the Orioles were a fun team to watch during the early to mid eighties. although they won one championship they simply were a fun team to be around especially Rick Dempsey and the late Sammy Stewart. Good rock n roll and baseball.
I was at Memorial Stadium the night they pre-empted John Denver's "Country Boy" and played "Good Time Rock and Roll" on the big screen. The visitor's dugout emptied to watch the performance and even the umpires had fun with this. Everyone was on their feet rocking out and cracking up. Good times and great memories.
What a find! I had the pleasure of spending time with Rick when he was my husband's coach during the Orioles Dream Week 2017 in Sarasota, Florida. He is one of the funniest, kindest, most considerate people I have had the pleasure of meeting. What a joy to see a side of him that I had no idea existed!
They broke the mold with Rick, my favorite catcher of all time, (right up there with Yogi, Bench, Fisk, Molina, and Carter).1983 World Series Champion MVP. I wear his number on my softball league uniform jersey in tribute.
Thanks so much for posting this!! It makes me happy! Takes me back to the days when baseball was a game with players rather than prima dona's and the USA was great. Can't wait to share with my kids. They will love it too. I'm raising them the Ripken way here in Georgia.
