Rick is easily one of the most humble guitar players on the planet, and you know what that means when the word humble is used to describe a guitarist: that’s right, they’re an absolute monster player. Rick can play things most people would think is impossible to do on a guitar, and yet his musicality is what stands out most-he’s a true maestro and an even better person, and throughout this episode you’ll understand time and again why Rick is one of the most respected guitarists on the planet, on today’s episode of Guitar Villains. please make a video reaction for the youtube channel Alip Ba Ta..he has 3 million more subscribers and he will not disappoint you..start by looking at the black or white guitar cover of the original micheal jackson song...Hye from Indonesia 👍
I have a question as. So i'm 10 years old, and i want to play the acoustic guitar. I was wonder if the fender CD-60 V3 dreadnought guitar would be a good guitar for me.
@@joelcprice You shouldn't see it that way. You should consider it inspirational, and also realize that you haven't yet reached the number of hours he has in his fingers.
@@perpetualbystander4516 Dude, I'd never actually put it down. Sometimes I get frustrated. Especially since I'm in my 40s, and I've been playing since the early 90s. That's normal. And after I'm done being frustrated, I pick it up and get back to shredding.
@@perpetualbystander4516 Also, I've got countless hours on the instrument, and four years of college studying the guitar. Its not always hours. Some people are able to play more efficiently simply because of genetics. That's okay. I chase my strengths rather than try to be the people who inspire me.
Get Andy Timmons also. I'm sure if he's got the time he'll do it. I wrote him a snail mail letter and the guy actually took the time to write back. True class.
I'm surprised that you don't know Big Wreck and Ian Thornley. He's one of the best guitaris/singers in the world along with Richie Kotzen. Both of them absolutely insane. And both sound kinda similar to Chris Cornell vocally. Especially Ian Thornley from Big Wreck.
@@EChapstick This is very true! With the passing of Brian Doherty in 2019, Ian is the only original member left. Ian's been the principal song writer for the last 4 albums.
Rick Graham's classical chops are the real deal. Most of the times when shredders play the classical guitar, the sound is not here at all, but this guy plays perfectly with the nails plus the interpretation is really researched . What a beast....
He once posted a video saying he's an alcoholic, i'm really worried about him as well. He hasn't even been active online lately, he's so underrated, famous artists should beg him to play guitar for them
thanks tyler! that rick's answer about ear training and speed was really special, i loved it! please do this with guthrie govan if you can, thanks again!
Finally someone else besides Rick Beato shouting out Big Wreck! Ian Thornley is an absolute badass in every respect, whether it's his absolutely MAD guitar playing, his raucous voice, or his fantastic songwriting. It's amazing to see somebody as killer as Rick Graham acknowledge how amazing that group is!
I have a question as well. So im 10 years old, and i want to play the acoustic guitar. I was wonder if the fender CD-60 V3 dreadnought guitar would be a good guitar for me.
You should go to a guitar store near you and try one out! Call the store before you get there so you can know if they have it there. Everyone has a different preference. You can also watch videos of someone playing it on RU-vid
@@huntergraham7846 That is true, however I don't think I have any local guitar stores in my area and how do I know which store to go to or if they even have the guitar im looking for?
Excellent interview Tyler...Rick seems such a real nice guy with such Alien like guitar Skillz!! Ive always thought to myself, if i could swap guitar skills with anyone it would prob be Rick.....ps....thats a great question to ask future Guitar Villains.... Brill stuff 😎🤘
Here's my problem with this series.... Tyler really doesn't care what the guests say. He seems like he more interested in saying what he wants to, more than what the guest says. Regardless of how the guest answers, he has to throw in his 2 cents. When he asks the guest who they identify with, he doesn't care how they answer, he just wants to say his answer. And I'm not trying to be a hater, I'm just saying the truth. You can tell the whole time he's just waiting to talk, and not really taking in what the guests are saying
Ya but Tyler seems like a pretty introverted guy so chatting and reactiing off people isn't really his thing . He's a very structured person also 💁🏻♂️ I think they're cool interviews with interesting and awesome guitarists 🤙 And plus, nah! ✊ Ha Tyler's not such a bad interviewer!
Just so I'm clear, I am not trying to bash him here. I enjoy his channel and content. But after watching every one of these so far, you can tell he's just waiting to talk, and doesn't care how the guest answers.
@@mikeflanders1292 I agree with you and I understand what you're saying. I think Tyler is the kind of guy that wants to deliver the best product possible, and without any experience or training this is what he's come up with. I think, as a fan of him and this project, they'll both benefit from Tyler improving as an interviewer.
That was strange in a way. Close my eyes, I could hear one of my cousins. Everything much the same: accent, sound..... Maybe I was listening more as Rick's from my part of the world too.
Sounds like you already have your season finale picked out, but I've been loving this series and the originality of the interviews. Seeing Rick on definitely made me want to see Andy James. And Chris Storey might be pretty cool too!
Love your style Rick !! Your one of my favorite guitar players and i take your advice from your guitar channel on RU-vid very seriously!! Thank you Rick for sharing your guitar knowledge.👍🎶
Awesome interview! Rick is so talented and humble at the same time. An amazing musician! A question I would ask Rick is why the last few times I have put my strings on, they were floppy. Most of the time it's fine. Is it because of the humid weather I've been getting? Does the right amount of slack matter when putting on strings? I use 10s for my string gauge and in standard tuning. Floppy strings make it so much harder when doing fast alternative picking runs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Maybe Rick will respond 🤣
I was in a masterclass with Rick the week before he was scheduled to record the EJ dvd - some of us went for a curry with him after and he brought up needing to record it - he was stressed to death over it which is odd seeing just a monster of a player have normal player anxieties. But everyones personal accounts on what a top friggen lad he is are all accurate
Rick is an inspirational person as much as a musician and composer. He's an awesome man. I've got a question for anyone out there. I played my 76 Les Paul professionally for over 25 years until it caused a spinal cord injury that caused the loss of feeling in my pinky and half my ring finger (well I couldn't walk but I didn't care as much about that).I couldn't fret a note for a couple years so I had to start over from scratch and although I'm able to perform again I've kind of hit a wall. Anyone know anything that might help? 🙏 Thanks. This is the perfect podcast for us all.
Thanks Tyler guitar villains is the coolest guitar chat show out there. Love the segments, ridiculously clever silly questions. Not only shit hot guitar player you really are a top shelf interviewer. Rick is great guy, great player and great sense of humour you guys connect like you’ve been great mates for years. I really enjoyed every second of this, it was a lot of fun.
You should get Ruben Wan on soon. I’m sure he would have an interesting story to tell. Chinese and Born in Panama. Plays that funny fender offset pawn shop pink thing.
Rick is a true phenomenon and all hes videos have this super positive friendly hot coffee vibe. Just bought 3 of his courses and they re simply amazing
There are beginners, intermediate, professional, world class, elite and then the Master Mr Rick Graham🤘👍. Fantastic interview with in my opinion the greatest guitarist on the planet
Tyler, how have you slept on Big Wreck?! Duuuuuude, one of the sickest rock bands, sickest vocalists, and sickest guitar players of the last 20+ years.
