As an ex-barber I can tell hair replacements a mile away. Having said that, this one would fool me. It is amazing. Now here is what I don't understand, why are there so many bad hairpieces out there when something like this is available? I
I think its all about understanding your options. Unfortunately, salons selling systems cloak them in mystery and obscure language, designed to confuse the customer and make them more prone to put themselves in the hands of a so-called professional. All you're really doing is dealing with a salesman, not a consultant thats truly concerned with you achieving the best results. Thats why channels like this one are so great. They help demystify everything and simplify the information. After someone becomes familiar with terminology like density, graduated hairlines, templates, single/double knotting, V looping, skin, lace etc, they can then make better choices and achieve better results. If you find a supplier willing to work with you, you're halfway there! 9/10, the best results have come from wearers going the DIY route, rather than relying on a salon.
Thank you. Very informative....love your videos. I went from lace to a poly type skin base. Not the really thin skin and not disposable. I also switched from ghost bond to tape all around and across the center. I can't tell you how much time and effort using tape, along with a poly base system, has saved me. In my opinion there is no comparison regarding ease of clean up with tape and poly vs lace and glue. Tape v glue is a breeze. The glue on the lace would take me forever to clean up. Don't misunderstand me, I love lace and I loved attaching with the ghost bond. It's simply that the time factor with clean-up and reinstall is significantly less with poly base and tape. Just my two cents. More like ten cents lol. Thanks again for your videos!
Hi Chrise ! Thank you! You are so right, tape makes clean up so easy. With the poly unit, I actually pat the removed hair system with toilet paper (better than cotton) and spray it with c22 remover and lay it skin side down in a glass tray over night. The next morning I just wipe it off. Super easy, takes five minutes. I always have a clean unit ready to go when I take one off. Having two are more units makes it less time consuming. I also usually use walker hard bond on the hd111. My skin is really oily and I can get 7 days with the hard bond. I am super picky about it all and the ghost bond doesn’t like my gym workout. Lol. Good to hear from you! Happy hair!
@@npill2403 Do you mean is the tape as realistic as using glue on the hairline? In my opinion, probably not a much. However, I feel the difference is negligible and you can always use glue on the hairline only.
Hi n pill, super thin poly systems and lace systems all make for a very good natural looking hairline! Thin poly pieces like the HD111 tend to have a slightly better natural looking front hairline due to its thinner material and V-loop ventilation. The only downside is its lifespan which is around 4-6 weeks. Swiss Lace or French Lace have a very good balance regarding natural-looking, breathability and life span. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact our customer support team. Thanks!
Hi Rick: Great review, yet again. Thank you! I've been using the M101 - 540 model for around a year. I can get around 3 months out of it before I need to have it dyed (my hair dresser does this). I then use the dyed unit as my spare and re-fit a new one at the 3 month mark. These are great units, but you can't really expose the hairline. I have a standard side comb style with a bit of bangs, so you can kind of see up to the hairline but not quite, so it's not a problem. I have also purchased two other units that I haven't worn yet, to experiment. M106 (French lace with - poly border around back). Looking for something a little cooler and lake friendly for the summer. M161 (poly base with Swiss lace front - looking for a more invisible hairline, and around 3 months of durability). In both cases I'm hoping that the French lace and Swiss lace fronts will be somewhat invisible if glued properly. Any thoughts on that? My only reluctance on the HD111 is the price on an annual basis. Looks great though, and I really think you've nailed the placement on your forehead. I think some folks put them a little too far back. Yours looks completely natural. Thanks again. David
Hi Prindad! Thank you for the compliments. It sounds like you have a great plan going. I have worn an m101 before but I have so many demands on the hairline that it becomes the less that perfect choice for me. I over-directed the front a bit and that looked ok but I still thought the hd111 met my very particular demands for the hairline. The lace units will have a great hairline. I have found that there is a learning curve whenever you try a different unit. I still have the lace unit and every time I do a new install I look at it and think - maybe, then I say nah! Next time lol. Wishing you great hair success!
@@rickdouglas5830 hi Rick love the vids...you have really changed the ways of getting a unit..myself I'm really interested but it's gotta look like yours .Rick do you recommend I go too get a unit fitted first bye a very good hair salon and sort of get used too it first...please Rick let me know your thoughts...thank you Rick 😉..
@@paulhaley5009 hope you’re doing good. There aren’t simple answers to your questions. I am a stylist so I have an advantage there. This is what I would recommend. Order the unit, watch a video on measuring and cutting it to fit what you need. Use ghost bond adhesive on the front and tape around the edge everywhere else. (It’s easier than a hard bond) Then go to a stylist to get it cut. You’re going to run into a lot of money by going somewhere for it all. Be aware, there is a learning curve and it takes a bit of experience to get it down. I have a video of a time my install went south. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it’s not pretty, lol. If money is no issue you could certainly go for the complete service but, honestly, they don’t look as good as mine. Plus, when we are told we can go six weeks with an install??? Think about it, go for six weeks without your scalp being washed……no thanks. Thanks for the question and have a great day…..Rick
Hey David, you know, there are so many options and so many variables when it comes to this subject. All I can speak of is my personal experience. With my totally exposed hairline I have found success two ways. One with lace and the other with the hd111. The lace for me is a pain to clean up but it is cooler for summer. I have the lace unit that I’m wearing in the video but haven’t had it on my head again. I’m so fast at installing the hd111 and it looks so good, I back off from any change. I have a beech video where I’m wearing a more durable, uh, I think M 101 ??? It was good for the beech but not for exposing the hairline. Hello bangs, lol. As far as placement, yup, 💯 % the key. TOTALLY THE KEY. It’s a mistake I see professional people make over and over. Nothing says wig more than a unit too far back. Another thing is how it blends at the temples. All the rest works if you get those two thing right. I sometimes accidentally get it too far back and am in a bad mood for the entire week, haha. Not redoing it though, just get it right the next time. I think we all have to find the choice that meets our personal needs and requirements, Sound as though you’ve got it figured out man! Thanks, have a good one.
@@rickdouglas5830 hi thank you so much...much appreciated...if and when I do dive in...I'm gonna say I want it just like our friend..Rick's..great stuff Rick...your a real gent..thank you ..Paul.
Hi Rick, great video. Love your hairpiece. I'm an older (58) late 1990's hair transplant casualty who hated the look of plugs so much that I've been shaving my head for the last 2 decades. Unfortunately, everyone and his uncle shave their heads now and my 5 big donor scars on the back of my head (as well as some scarring on top) make me feel self conscious amongst the sea of virgin scalps. So I'd like to try a hair system. My question to you is does your HD111 represent a style or just a density and base type for the system? I know you didn't fall into the transplant trap and do undercut styles but I will need to go longer in the back because of my donor scars (an undercut shave would be as bad as being bald for me). Hope my question makes sense, as I am unsure if in buying a hairpiece, I am getting a pre-cut hairstyle, so to speak, or if a barber needs to cut a special cut for me once the piece comes. Thanks!!

Wow Rick you're a good spokesman for this company. If I passed you in the street I'd never have guessed you were wearing a hair system. I would worry that a thin skin would be hot as hell in the summer. I sweat a lot. It looks great on you though.
im from the uk and over in the states when it comes to hair systems i can definately say you guys are more advanced when it comes to the most natural look
Hi Rick, great video! I’ve been wearing a lace for over 2.5yrs since I started. Thinking of going to Skin to give it try. I too am a superhairpieces’s client. Have you had the chance to try the M111 as well?
Hello @capitalman1190, thank you for choosing Superhairpieces! If you would like to discuss your requirements or need any sort of consultation, you can always contact us on 1-866-814-7879 🙂
hi rick which is best for a exposed hair hair line lace or poly in your opinion plus which do you like poly or lace thank you sir.. fantastic review thank you
Definitely HD111 is hands down the best front hairline. It’s my go to. With the lace, It can look good as well and it breathes, however, I gotta tell ya, skin wins!
Have you ever considered using a system that you remove at night and put back on in the morning? I am new to this. I will be going into have my mold made and my system put together. I think I'd like to take it off at night. I don't really want to wear one 24/7.
Hi Rick its great to see a natural looking hair unit especially the one you have on HD11, i stopped wearing one for 9 years because there didnt look natural and gave up that i would ever get a natuRAL LOOKING HAIRLINE. how many units you have and do you change to a new one everyweek. What is the maintanance on these type of hair systems
Thank you! I have several units but only get a new about every two months. I wear it a week then reinstall another one I have while the one I remove soaks in c22. I take it off Thursday night and put it back on Friday morning. Takes me ten minutes, honestly. I don’t take any special care other than good products. I had someone today at a car dealership who had seem my videos, comment about how amazing it looked. He got up close to the hairline and could not see it at all. That’s really good.
Hello @SheOpines, it depends on what type of lace and the thickness of the poly base. Laces in general have short to medium lift span, while 8-mil poly base lasts longer, but 3 or 4 mil ultra thin skin has only 4-6 week life span. Should you need further assistance, please let us know at 1-866-814-7879 or sales@superhairpieces.com
That depends on which system you choose! For a lace system like the M105, with proper care it should last 2-3 months or longer with proper care. If you went with a more durable system, it can last 6+ months with proper care.
Lace is a pain in the ass lol! Is there a lace middle fully poly perimeter Including hairline option? I tried a thin skin it didn't work out well for my scalp. Hairline clean ups were a breeze
Hey, William Charles! Indeed, lace is a pain in the ass until you get it down. My very first unit install was lace and by some miracle, I installed it perfectly the first time. Beginners luck, lol. I went quickly to skin unit, but my scalp is super oily so I have to re-install every five days. Not really a problem since I can now do it in about ten minutes. I have several units so there is alway one clean and ready to go. I take off the one I was wearing and put it to soak overnight in c22. Next morning the goop slides right off. Thanks for watching the vid!
@@Gulfcoastcasual hey, no the unit was not ruined. I let it soak in c22 overnight and then sprayed alcohol on it and combed out the glue. It took a while but the unite survived it. I learned my lesson about not letting the bond dry enough for sure.
Hi Mike, hope your day is going well. Rick is only using our stock HD111 in this video. Maybe because he pushed the hair back, the system looks fuller? If you have any question or concerns, our experienced customer support team is ready to assist at 1-866-814-7879!
@@Superhairpieces Thanks for your reply. I'm an expert wearer for 30+ years and I'm telling you that my stock HD111 has about 10% less hair density than Rick's. From day one I could see clear thru the thin hair and see the base of the system with the exact same hair style as Rick's. I'm pretty convinced that the system that I received has only 85% density. After 30+ years I think I know very well what a 100% hair density system looks like. I say all this to tell you that if I received the same stock HD111 as Rick I know I would be absolutely thrilled with it an never order anything else.
@@mikes.1529 Our pleasure Mike! As you know, hair systems are handcrafted, so sometimes there might be around a 5% hair density difference between units. No, I didn’t add hair. When you first get the unit and look at it in the package, it looks a bit thin. You will find, once it’s on your head, it magically looks thick.. I leave the front long (about to my top lip) a retro 40’s style. It probably looks thicker because of the length. Thanks for watching!
@@garykulhanek7698 We currently have on stock in the HD111 model the colors #1B and #5 with 80% human hair. You can also check our inventory page to find more info www.superhairpieces.com/inventory/ 😁
I think its all about the density and the right color. Ive been wearing a thin skin HP for 5 years. If you are on your 50s or 40s it should be a light density. He has the correct color and density for his age thats why it looks so good. Im planning on ordering my first HP from Superhairpieces. Ive been using lordhair for a while because the type of hair they use is European hair and its thin and not as thick as some of the units ive seen.
