Would've been insane if they got along.... Just imagine Rick and Shane vs every character enemy to come. Both of them ruling the group together. Shane would've executed the governor before there was ever an attack on the prison, and for these reasons it is a shame that he was into Ricks wife.
Especially imagine if he saw rick bite that dude joes throat and slaughter this terminus people in the church . Would have loved Shane’s reaction to rick being that way

Given their backgrounds as cops, I can imagine Rick and Shane raiding Negan's satellite outposts like a pair of badass law enforcers. Negan wouldn't stand a chance against them.
Or imagine Shane going undercover as a Savior in the Sanctuary, infiltrating the enemy camp like a badass law enforcement agent. He would have brought them down from the inside, without mercy
With the help of Daryl, Michonne, Abraham, Rosita, Sasha, Glenn, and prob even Andrea if we're talking about the OG group sticking together. Tyrese woulda been a force too if his bday never died. Now that's a badass group

The thing that makes the greatest main characters is the way pieces of enemies they’ve faced in their life is practically absorbed into them. Heisenberg used to take characteristics of his enemies like Gus Fring and do them too. Rick also did this like how he slowly started becoming ruthless like Shane or the way he started copying the Governor too
