Will always remember the first time I heard this - at Studio 54 in 1982 with this girl I used to hang out with. The whole place went completely crazy....I don't remember any song getting a bigger crowd reaction that this, (and I spent way too much time there).
I've always had respect for Rick Springfield. He always wanted to make it as a musician and finally did. Yeah, he was a soap opera star, but what would YOU have done in his shoes...before the interwebs, social media, etc.? Dude has always been a rocker and can deliver the goods. I recently saw a show with him and Pat Benatar. Pat just positively killed it, as I expected...BUT what I didn't expect was a 67 year old Springfield to be moving, performing and singing like he was 30 again. He did. Great show. If you hate this, you're just jealous you're not aging as gracefully as he is.
I just couldn't believe how nervous he was on stage with his band! Rick Springfield was singing so fast with his song! He was a new singer for the TV show!🎤🎸🙏🎚💝💯👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Now that's what I call a rock solid performance! Rick puts a lot of emotion and energy into his music and that's what makes it truly special and original. Thank you for sharing this rare gem.
Rick Springfield is a fantastic singer and songwriter! He has done a great job with his music career! He is my biggest rock star singer! I am very Loyal and idolize him as a very talented singer! Rick is my inspiration and amazing singer! Rick is fantastic in his concerts with his fans and the kids on his stage! He is my rock and my guardian Angle! Love you Rick oxox!🎤🎸🙏🎚💝💯👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The 80's, especially the early 80's were very colorful. Since the 90's till about now, we haven't seen much color(that 90's grunge thing). Thank goodness it's coming back.
the one thing that I really liked about Rick was that unlike most artist back in the day he would not perform if they ask him to lipsynk his songs very rarely did you ever see him do that unless he was sick and that was not often
Rick. What an entertainer! So glad you're still with us. I know your struggles and am thankful you're here! 1983 Red Rocks! I'll never forget! You're loved by millions! Oh, have to add, met you at Hard Rock, Denver. So, kind you signed an autograph for my ex-wife. So fuckin nice!
He is so hot!!! 🔥🔥🔥.. I am still listening in 2023!!!! Nothing has changed, he looks the same, sounds great!!!!!! The 80's were there best time in my life!!!! The music was the best ever!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️.. 🎶🎶🎶....
Rick's #1 fan back in 1982, that would've been me, lol. I even married an Australian... I think it was a subconscious impulse, haha. Rick was so gorgeous. This is one of my favorites of his songs. Thanks for posting!
I just saw him in concert last night, I was in the front row, and Id have to agree lol. He was sexy then, and is a very attractive 65 year old man now :)
I just looked it up to hear it again after watching WHAS. Hilarious movie. What's the song they play when the robot nerd does his weird talent show bit?
Wow, thanks for posting this. I remember this performance when it first aired on the American Music Awards. Sheena Easton was so cute when she introduced him. Very impressive live performance with the Fabulous Eels. But I have no idea why some people thought he was a bubble gum teen idol. Bubble gum by definition is a genre of music designed for and geared toward female children, from the ages of around 6 to, say, 14. Can you imagine Donny Osmond singing "gonna love her daddy, she'll be feeling it tonight" accompanied by a fist thrust? Bubble gum is not this overtly sexual. But this was one of my faves from working class dog.
Agreed!!! Excellent comment...ur so right...at this time...he was right in fashion...OMG...and look at those face and into those eyes....WHAT purple vest???
Holy crap! He does look just like my dad back in the day! If you put a picture of my dad next to Rick Springfield and compare you would think it were just a copy. Seriously. My dad used to do lip sync to Rick Springfield music, back in the 80s 90s. and won a contest when he sang for to mom.
Beg to differ....Rick's band now is awesome, but Tim Pierce (guitar) is huge and has played with everyone, including the solo on Runaway by Bon Jovi. Brett Tuggle (keys) played with David Lee Roth after he left RS and Jack White played with RS up until about 10 years ago. What makes him sound so good now, is UBER-producer, Matty Spindell. The man is amazing behind the mixing board!
Can someone please let me know what year this was when Rick Springfield was on Solid Gold? I loved that so much! I think that she was in the 80's? Rick Springfield back then looked so young and he was nervous on stage back then too! He did NOT LOOK NO 73 YEARS OLD! He is 71 now and it is 2020. Not bad looking either!
His backup band in this video pales in comparison to the lineup of Carter (drums), Hilland (keyboards), Bissonette (bass), and Bernhardt (lead guitar).
@Richard Lewis Springthorpe of course, all one has to do is click on another's photo to find out basic information, which you oddly don't have on yours...
