The brilliant Tony Fernandez on drums. I think this from an edition of the BBC Arts Program “Omnibus”. For a short time, Film Critic Barry Norman was the presenter.
Great post. I saw this when it was first broadcast 1983/84 on Barry Norman's Film 83/84 show. It's a pity the interview isn't there, along with the solo piano piece he played called, Elgin Mansions, which was sublime. You just see the cut to Rick at the end of the tune, but that's all. I did have this recorded on an old betamax video BITD, but some swine broke into my house and stole all of my music videos of the OGWT, Tube and others.
Oh forgot to add I also saw Rick's 1984 live show at the Guildhall, Preston. Great show and I have a couple of pics from an old 110 camera to prove I was there LOL!
It doesn't look entirely live. At first I thought it was just miming, but some of the Korg Sigma solos sound different from the studio recording. The orchestra is most likely fully miming. If you listen to it closely, there are piano parts in the background that he can't possibly be playing.
