For those coming to this all these years later, your musicians are Jon Lord (Organ) and Rick Wakeman ( Synthesisers, and other assorted keyboards), accompanying them are Murray Gould (lead guitar), Micky Moody (rhythm guitar), Jerry Brown (drums) and Nick Fyffe (bass). Brilliant keys from both of they as you'd expect. Sadly Jon passed almost exactly a year later. RIP Jon Lord.
Fantastic Jam. I've been fortunate to see both these Gents in concert over the years. But I have to give major credit to the drummer - I think he did a great job of supporting the music and setting up the call and response whilst at the same time putting his own style across.
I cannot believe how incredibly great these guys are/were. True virtuosos from a bygone era where individual talent meant something. The drummer is also awesome with his driving beat. Powerful. Amazing. Otherworldly. As an amateur keyboardist, I am truly humbled.
Well, as you know Mr LORD has played classical organ pieces in churches before reaching that level. Bach and all the rest of it are no mysteries for him...
I always though of Wakeman as "classical rock" and John Lord being more a blues rocker - but Lord is the one who has the chord chart in front of him and who holds up a few fingers to cue everybody else. 2 masters - and great to see how energetic they each were still.
Two great mates having a great time together, and that's what this music lark is all about, and should anyone ever ask what you mean by a piece of music having "great energy," play them this
IMO this drummer really shows some stuff here. I'd love to hear him better but my laptop's speakers are the size of matchsticks. I hear nary a cymbal, but what a treat that we see so much of him in the video. His energy matches Jon's and vice versa. As usual Rick (my Guy for 50+ yrs) looks sooo relaxed while his fingers prance magically. I gained an appreciation of Jon's inspired jam and tight lead. What a shame we lost him so soon.
Wakeman really is brilliant, and so is Jon , such different sounds and styles...So disappointed Rick and Keith Emerson never recorded together. But Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman together is such a musical treat
Incrivel ver estes dois grandes mestres das teclas juntos, ja tive o privilegio de ver ao vivo Rick Wakeman foi algo fabuloso que ja vi ao vivo, agora imaginem ver estes dois genios juntos ao vivo, magnificos.
Both are fantastic. The sound of Jon Lord's B3 is incomparable. Wakeman is a phenomenal progressive keyboard player and I adore him BUT but Lord is the Grand Master of rock organ. He does more simple things but, who else sounds like him?
@@claudio130 For sure but he is full on fusion, and there are many great fusion keyboard players, in fact too many to mention. No, I was thinking of rock/prog keyboard players, and Brian Auger certainly strayed into that style with his work both in the 60s and 70s.
@@fusionfan6883 agree. But sometimes is hard to draw very precise boundaries when it comes to skills across styles or music genre. I have a special place in my heart for all these monsters.
As noted by 'fusion fan' here, Brian Auger was intergral to the British keyboard scene, both as a pianist and as a Hammond player. Jon Lord said he learned everything from Auger. Somewhat ironically, Auger only picked up on the Hammond after filling in on a Georgie Fame gig, when he arrived to find an organ. Interestingly, he had a similar situation when he showed up to play keys on the Yardbirds' 'For Your Love'. Apparently all that was available was a harpsichord.
