that hype man is how Justin became famous & came to the attn of tv news and newspapers. WARNING! pubbylongways original ig post contains a lot of dirty language.
You never spoke truer words. The band will put on a show worthy of every award imaginable. The Drum Majors,The Dancers, The Majorettes, The Band ! Entertaining! You may even miss part of the game but you absolutely will not miss the BAND! Miles College “Golden Bears”❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My son was in band since middle school marching with high school band first chair and section leader. I was and still is a proud momma. He went to UVA and the band director wanted my son to join the band and to teach them how to march and dance. He respectively declined bc he couldn't get pass the cowboy uniform and hat and music choices 😟
This video is ALL KINDS OF WRONG! My fave Ricky Smiley joke has been enhanced w/video clips of PWI/DCI & HBCU bands. Why in hell he stuck my boy VanillaFunk smack in the middle of it all? LMAO #ThatBoyJohn #VanillaFunk #ToTheSky #JustinHeideman is now a drum major at Alabama State.
down south bands are built different I gotta go to battle of the bands out there never been to one my sister has and she said you have to experience it in person were from Michigan and I have family down south in Alabama I can't wait to go this year🤘🏿
I'm not gonna lie. I'd never heard of or seen a PWI/DCI band until last year. I experienced two real life sensory prbs w/them. #1 I kept getting up to see who was knocking on the door. I discovered later that the knocking and clicking noises are from the drums (quints, tonals) these bands use. I can NOT tolerate the sound. Fewer than 10 HBCU's use them. #2 I kept getting seasick for real. Watching their legs move really quickly across the field/grass reminded me of crabs underwater. Some HBCU'S have a corps style, too. I can't watch any of them either.
You clearly DID NOT SEE Steve's routine! You must be repeating what others have said. Their two jokes could NOT BE further apart!!!!!!! Steve hypes up white bands & thinks HBCU bands are crap & Rickey hypes up HBCU bands & knows PWI/DCI bands are crap. Steve actually says that black bands don't play music they dance. I'm insulted. HOW could you miss that?!? Having a joke about a band is not against the law. That's why every comic makes fun of similar subjects such as men, women, etc. Bands are just another subject. LASTLY, Steve Brown is SO not funny.
@@beaulah_califa9867Right cause you know what I have seen, my man or lady when did I say Steve or Ricky was or wasnt funny?? You have your opinion just like I have mine and you are in a very small group that believes that's not Steve's joke. We can disagree and not be disagreeable so no sweat.
There’s a reason he was head drum major tho. But yeah I agree. 99% of the time the black folks got the better drum majors. Proud to be in a traditional style band tho

Steve hypes up white bands & thinks HBCU bands are bad musicians (all they do is dance) & Rickey hypes up HBCU bands & knows PWI/DCI bands are SO BORING seats empty during halftime. Getting upset is useless. I've seen white people interviewed before, during, & after the game who have all said they attended that game - featuring Southern University's The Human Jukebox - just to see this famous HBCU band perform. FACTS! Others have said they made sure to be in their seats at halftime. Do you know how famous & respected you have to be before someone would be comfortable making this admission on camera??? The Human Jukebox Meda YT channels used to make short films about their away games. Check'em out. Some of the DCI/PWI games were against - USM, UTSA, LA TECH, UNM, etc.
@@knockerz3140 racists..are you caucasian?..because if you are you should never say the word..you should be somewhere trying to get a bill passed so that the word could be removed from all reference books..
@@DD-dk4gf Three of them have graduated in June. Justin, Dominic and Xavier. They all got accepted into college. Dominic is at Jackson State. Justin is at Alabama State and I don't remember where Xavier is.
ANY DCI Band can kick the ass of any HBCU Band anytime....watch and learn...go-go dancing on the football field is NOT the same as measured precise movements on the field as that as if a DCI Band...admit it....there is a total difference...many of the moves the HBCU females do on the field would be pramount to working the pole at the local strip club...sorry...just saying what I saw here in Virginia...a local High School band was ORDERED off the field due to the rique moves of the female dancers...Parents and other bands booed their disgust....The director and principal were reprimanded by the school district and banned for one year from performing in ANY football game, band competition, or any parade...The band director resigned at the end of the school year and the principal was reassigned....

@@baycic Yeah...no. Africa was actually here before strip clubs and stripper poles. I didn't compare. Read it OUT LOUD and sound out the complicated words slooowwwly. There's no shame in asking for help either.
HBCU’s are what you make of it I’m a product of an HBCU and learn a lot about life and the books. And now I have three degrees. And it al started at a HBCU.
Before we were allowed to go to PWI, HBCU’s produced something of the greatest minds and don’t get me wrong, they still do. However, the brain and talent drained that occurred after segregation was and is real also. Today many HBCU’s are providing access to affordable higher education to many people of all races, backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic statuses for which traditional PWI are now out of reach. So instead of demeaning and denigrating them, perhaps you should work with your closest one to restore some of the glory. I say this having graduated from a prestigious PWI but still not forgetting my roots!
If you are black, then DON'T EVER SAY THAT... EVER. Because you are buying into the consequence of a narrative that anything we have is garbage. HBCUs are like the black family: You never talk bad about your own family despite it's misgivings. HBCUs originated out (or a combination) of four methods: (1) the church (2) the money of a white benefactor(s) (3) the concerted effort of a black community or (4) the state's rational to keep black people out of the flagship universities. Under these factors they flourished for years, right up to the point the flagship universities realized the financial profit they could leverage from black students. So one university cultivates you as you are, while the other exploits you because of what you are. I'd rather walk on the cracked sidewalks knowing I am walking on the hallowed grounds of those ancestors who shout from the heavens for my successes, and understand my pains, than walk the oak treed, ivy path of people who see me as less than human and disenfranchise me for the color of my skin. BTW, it maybe a good time to mention that flagship institutions were either funded by slave labor or its annual budgets were ballooned by the benign neglect and defunding of state HBCUs. So instead of calling it garbage, write a check; buy a ticket to a HBCU sporting event. Let those know who attend HBCUs that you support them and what they can do to change the future.
bbcoward - Thank you so much for your wonderful explanation. I attended an HBCU but wasn’t able to finish due to lack of financial aid at the time. There’s nothing I wouldn’t change about having the experience in the first place. It was like being home away from home. I would sit at the burial site of the founder just to express how blessed I was to be there because of the sacrifices she made for us to have that opportunity to attend a HBCU. I have on my car a tag representing that same university today. Had one since ‘98. Much love to all of our HBCUs.
Thank god that depression is being spotlighted as a condition that can be managed with therapy and sometimes pharmaceutical intervention. Get help right away. That said…You go Justin. You put in the work. You have respect for our ancestry of rhythm and movement.
