The 90's was definitely the decade of the talk shows. Ricki, Jenny, Montel, Maury, Jerry, Geraldo, Sally, Oprah, Donahue, and Cristina for Latino viewers....Did I leave out anyone?
Her talk show was such a worldwide success and made a big impact in 90s pop culture. It used to be played in the afternoons here in Northern Ireland (UK). When playing with friends after school, every friend's house I went into, their mum had this on the TV.... Followed by Neighbours and Home and Away, ofcourse. I miss the 90s so much.
Sky Black I miss her talk show definitely the 90s Ricki is grateful on her talk show I know she holds that close to her heart however she has grown past it and does different things we all change eventually don’t mean it’s forgotten she done a excellent job on her past talk show.
I really like Rupaul & his transparency. He is very engaging. I used to watch Ricky Lake’s talk show. She was good. She did that & now moved on to bigger better avenues. Time really flies. She looks good for 50!

They always showed talkshow clips from Ricki on German TV in the late 90's. That's why I already knew who she was when she first appeared on King Of Queens.
I imagine that many people in the UK like myself used to hang around and idly watch Ricki Lake in that after school / before dinner timeslot of the day... it was always on the tv on weekdays! Perfect escapism. Loved the reunions. And the "I wear pyjamas every day and my husband doesn't like it". Or "I never leave the house without makeup". 😂Go Ricki, Go Ricki! (Also Montell was great 😂👍)
Omg I always looked forward to watching the Ricki Lake show as a kid after school back in the 90s! I remember it came on at 5pm Monday through Friday. My favorite episodes would be the ones where a secret admirer would blind fold their crush and do these random things like make them taste food or give a massage all while having to guess who their secret admirer was. Oh and the Cinco De Mayo episodes too, those were really fun to watch. I miss those days! So glad I can now watch some episodes on RU-vid!
Omg same! I know Im biased, but we had the best of talk shows back in the day. Springer and Maury were too thrashy for me but I always liked Ricki's topics....
I like this show. I wish Rupaul nothing but the best. I can't help to think about how packed his schedule is going to be. From shooting Drag Race Proper to All Stars to taping this talk show. Man. Busy. Get them coins tho hunty.
I don't know anything about Ricki Lake (other than she was on Hairspray and had her own talk show) but she is really....she seems very high energy, honest, and likeable. Thank you for the video.
Love it when the camera suddenly pans to some audience member responding to the guest with a big smile or nodding, etc. It's sort of corny and retro, but it's a familiar device. Must take a sharp-eyed camera person to decide who to pan in on. (Or else they informed the person ahead of the show they're gonna be zooming the camera in on him or her? Maybe they pay them or give them a voucher for a free dinner? LOL.)
I was going to see if anyone else noticed that. I would say that they asked him to react so that they could capture him on camera, and i would even go as far as to say that that reaction was probably filmed earlier and they saved it for edit ... And I agree. It was super cheesy...
Rikki looks AMAZING !!!!!!!!! She didn’t even change!!! Omg!!!! What a doll :) 50!!!!!! I wouldn’t have never have guessed a day over 34! that is crazy!!! Happy for her :)
Ricki is beautiful great no matter what age and very talented definitely was a great cool talk show host she is right for real we are in a different time nowadays we grow we change we do different things but her talk show was great I enjoyed it Back then so am happy she still going good and grateful in everything she does with her life rupaul awesome as well. Ricki Lake was trash daytime tv for us when I was at University. It’s funny how these people end up respected. We thought she was pure trash. We were naïve too.
Im sure she doesn’t miss doing that show. She sold and exploited deep dark stereotypes of simple minded, ignorant, and underprivileged people throughout the 1990’s. It’s her experiencing a guilty conscience.
