First of all Rickie Lee Jones is effortlessly cool - no matter what the decade; secondly, I am inspired (and excited) by her choice of films, thirdly I want people to know that I had a true friend called Sue who loved Rickie Lee Jones (especially 'Chuck E's in love') and that she died very suddenly a few years ago. Not many people knew her, but I did - and I still feel her loss.
Gotta say, the talented Ms. Jones looks spectacular! And has great taste in films. "I like to make up my own stories because reality is everywhere. Let's face it." LOL, so wonderful!
I'd watch this woman wash dishes. This was really nice. I love the movie A Taste of Honey too. Rita Tushingham and Murray Melvin were brilliant. So beautiful and heartbreaking (and that song does stick in your head forever). Managed to miss Hedwig...must put at the top of the list! And My Man Godfrey? I probably watch that about once a year. I'd see anything with William Powell in it (never knew till last year about his relationship with Jean Harlow...I learn something new every day whether I want to or not!). ❤☮🌎
This is one of the best one of these I've seen, and I might have seen all of these. Most people who enter the closet, you can kind of sense what they see with each film, but Rickie Lee truly makes you share her experience. She is fully transmitting her feelings into us here. Now, see if you guys can get her old pal Tom to pop in so we can see how he feels.
Rickie made one of the best albums ever called 'Pirates'. Thank you, Rickie, for signing my copy for me. I hope that you enjoyed the Laura Nyro section in the Monterey film package too.
Such a charmer. And Devil In A Blue Dress was so criminally overlooked. Carl Franklin did a brilliant directing job. The 50s milieu is beautifully drawn. Denzel is great. Don Cheadle… one of the great film performances in history
😆 I love her impression of Janis Joplin at Monterey... her and Big Brother's performance of "Ball & Chain" is one of the all-time great moments in music history (or cinema history!) for me! 🥰 PS. Not even gonna let us see what she says about that Fellini box set?!? 🤷♂️ One of my top 3 most loved artists of all time.
Films yes, but music and musical stories keep me company, help me understand and reveal myself to me. Thank you Rickie for being a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. Keep going, I'm right behind you.
LOL! I've been on a William Powell bender for a week! It started when I randomly watch My man Godfrey and now I'm going through the Thin man series. What. Is. Going. On. ?
I picked up Devil in a Blue Dress earlier this year. Such a good movie, been over a decade since I last saw it. Finally starting to watch my collection & the supplements too.
And for those of you who were as charmed as I was by Rickie Lee Jones' friendly, upbeat greeting, here it is five times in a row for you to enjoy whenever you please!: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-15C6LCX9ugg.html
Stfu, she has as much right and reason to be in the Criterion Closet as anyone else they've let in. Just because YOU don't like her - or have never even heard of her - doesn't mean shit to anyone. Go away. Why are you even here to begin with?
