Karl, a regular man who gets offered the big break of a lifetime by the BBC, goes onto BBC, tells the audience they could be doing far better than watching the BBC - and then keeps his job anyway. What a fucking hero.
Ironically he does use Facebook even though in the video he says he doesn't even know what it is. If you send him an interesting enough video (About monkeys or freaks most likely) then he might reply to you, although it's usually just "mad innit" or something like that.
When Karl says "Happy Christmas", that's hilarious. what's great about Karl is that he doesn't even know he's funny, which is a fantastic quality to have. He'll never be affected by fame
This was the best indicator of Karl intentionally stifling a smile for the sake of the bit. He's not "playing a character", but he's playing up a persona - same way any comedian does and same way any regular person does when performing. If you listen to series one of the XFM Ricky Gervais Show, the difference between him being passively funny and pretty quickly learning to be actively funny is clear. He hadn't quite honed the little things, like trying not to laugh because it's funnier to play humour straight. He's not a comedian, he's just a person who's funny, and humour can still be intentional.
@@AA-hg5fk You're consuming media right now on a social platform. The horror! Jokes aside, I get what you mean. It's best to stay anonymous on the internet and not go into the realms of the self-obsessed.
Karl is hilarious! Their brotherhood chemistry is great, too. You can tell they are good friends. Karl cracks Ricky up almost every other sentence so you can tell Ricky loves knowing him. That, in and of itself, is funny to watch sometimes. Best of luck to them both.
I don’t lose any sleep over this, but I like to think that these two keep in touch with each other. Karl making Ricky laugh at the end made me think of my brother and I hanging out together.
It's so annoying that Karl won't use Twitter because of all the celebrities I follow, he's the one I want to know most about what he's thinking and doing.
He's not wrong though is he, I spend too much time online, I don't really go out, and I've got all their shows and books downloaded illegally cus I'm skint. Facts right there.
He was really genuine back in the early radio days, like around 2001. He got used to being a clown since and is now much more self-aware and controlled.
I know about the podcasts yes. I only found them recently though lol. I know I've missed so much. I can't believe I missed this guy and I even remember seeing a little clip on an advert but I never thought to watch it. I listen to the podcasts when I'm browsing or just messing on my computer.
At 1:57 Karl does a great 4th wall break, and both he and Ricky look at the camera at the same time, but only for a split second. I have no idea why, but that made my fucking day. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-92QPeCO3ioY.html#t=117
He's great! He makes so much sense. He's like a human Creature Comforts, which was fashioned after Pilkington type humans. So, I guess he's like the human incarnation of something non-human that mimics humans!
just as i was thinking 'aw no ricky's classic laughter burst in this video' one comes at the end & nearly blows my eardrum (as i had headphones in) lol
Yeah, I think he's definitely more aware of his comedy nowadays. But look at how shocked he was when Ricky laughed at him in the end, haha. He's still quite sincere and confused at times.
