John has said many times, he never thought he'd ever jump over to the right, but when he started realizing how insane the left became, he knew it was really bad.. No one who knows John has been surprised because he has always spoken his mind, thoughts, views completely openly all his life, and he doesn't care how it makes you feel.. And yet he is one of the most honest, and nice/kind individuals anyone could ever meet or be lucky enough to know.. He has never, and will never sugarcoat anything just so you feel good, he will always tell you exactly the way he sees it.. and that makes some people upset. Its also heartbreaking to see how much he is suffering on the inside since the loss of his very lovely wife..

I'm not sure punk is simply rock n roll with safety pins, in many ways I think of it as a celebration of the adolescent stage (rebellion and development of identity), and that isn't meant to be derogatory, I think it's important to engage with that stage in the same way it is important to stay in touch with your inner child, there were many bands in the 80s going oi oi oi and sounding like the Pistols, but one could argue Morrissey was the most Punk of that era by writing songs such as Suffer little children, The Queen is Dead and Margaret on the guillotine.

Back in the mid-70s when I was at school, I borrowed Derek and Clive, on an audio cassette tape, from my mate. My dad found it whilst I was out, played it and because he found it so “disgusting” wiped it (by covering those little holes). I lost a lot of mates because of that incident. I can imagine my dad, sitting listening to the lobster sketch, and choking on his pipe.
