Big thank you to both Matt and Ricky, that was honestly my favourite ever podcast, such honesty, sincerity and genuine humour/rapport and the sparring at the end priceless...thanks guys
This was so easy to watch and listen to, if you were to take this on tour as a live event it would sell out all over the country, 2 mates telling stories with no ego’s or agenda, that’d be a great night out for most of the lads I know, brilliant!….
Honestly one of the best things I've watched on RU-vid in ages! Always a massive fan of Ricky, knew he did a bit but can't believe how well he moves on the pads! You're killing it with the channel Matt 👊
Nice one Matt. I love this format where you sit down with a mate and just share memories together. It was nice to see the other side of Ricky's life and listen to his stories. You're both old school gentlemen which seems to be a dying breed. I'm looking forward to Ricky starting his own channel. All the best Matt.
Love Ricky! Never seen this side to him.. relaxed and just being himself! Never actually knew Ricky was so connected with that section of London society. He's also much fitter than I was expecting. And proper handy with it! Great interview, Matt, loved it 🥊
Loved the tussle at the end, Ricky can still shape up a bit and liked how he wanted to test himself taking the stomach punches, embracing your own fears and insecurities seeing if you still have it, i think a yone who used to throw hands getting abit older can relate. Really appreciated that🙏
Great video. I get tired of watching the same old stories about the same old faces, but what an engaging character Ricky Grover is. It's hard not to listen to what, and how, he recalls stories. It's like sitting in a pub with a mate you haven't seen since school. Best wishes to you, Matt, and thanks for the upload.
good to hear from Ricky/Bulla. loved him on the telly as Bulla and great to hear about his life behind the screen. always felt he was one of us and not some middle class actor doing some east end knock off character. as an ex Londoner listening to him takes me back to the the old manor. glad he's doing well. Great episode and now one more sub.
I could have watched you 2 all night 😂😂😂 Fantastic content , loved the boxing at the end, was on the end of my seat 😮. Was terrified you were both gonna get spiteful 😂
@@mattlegg1976 He was moving about quite nicely, love the fact he, Wanted to feel your power in the midriff, but you went gentle on him 😂😍. Really enjoying the channel, and glad you’ve stayed away from the online beefing which is going on, I like the fact yours is upbeat and focused on the fighting 👍👍👍
this is my favourite video this year, massive respect to both of you, sparring sessions were superb, controlled with respect between you both, you can see that Ricky is no mug with his paws, all round brilliant, more please Matt.
Wicked interview , I remember Ricky as a comedian but never knew he was connected with these legends! Love hearing about the guvnor, listening to his audiobook at the moment!
Brilliant episode!😂 Grover was quality and you are blessed to have some great friends. And they are blessed to have YOU as a friend. The sparring at the end was the icing on the cake. Always watch your episodes, even if I don’t comment very often. Keep em coming and stay strong!👊👍👏
I think that’s your best video yet Matt. Ricky Grover is a character I have loved for years 😂 but great stories of old again. Loved the story about Charles Bronson just one of those old school stories from a area growing up! Let’s hope he gets to experience life as a free man. Insane amount of time to be incarcerated. But great great video this.
Absolutely brilliant video Matt, great to see you and Ricky just chatting away and having a laugh. Two decent guys with some great story’s, please let us know when Ricky starts his channel, looking forward to that.
Freemasons Road, granted lol had a few mates in Custom House I was keir hardie estate around the corner in Canning Town. Lively. Ricky reminds me of the characters we used to have back then. Great interview and top content again, great work mate.
That was a great podcast & especially loved the Bronson story. Was like watching 2 lifelong mates having a chat about their lives and the history of their locale. Very enjoyable. Thanks Matt and Ricky.
Absolutely fantastic episode my mate, what a pleasure it was sitting down and watching you two have a good old chat. Simple things are often the best in life. Stay safe matt.
Pure class Lads . Top man Ricky and Matty . Could of watched 2 hours of that . Not a bad little spar at the end . Once you know how to move about you never lose it 🥊💯😉
I always come back to this vid because it always lifts my spirits. I'm originally from The Old Kent Road myself so I can completely relate to the stories and the banter. When you're watching two real geysers enjoying each-other's company and having a real laugh, what's not to like !!! As I've said before, Matt, keep up the great work brother. Wonderful. X 🙂
Proper men. great story about paul edmonds im very close friends to hes 3 sons. Rip to them both. I see paul and bill the bomb have a fight outside the greengate pub e13 toe to toe lasted about 5 minutes shook hands and went seperate ways. old school tear up. Was born canning town 1965 met and know most of them. eastend gents. Ricky and matt its the best video ive seen hope for for more in the future.
Class act Matt and this channel really has found it's groove. I look forward to each new instalment because even though I don't know what it will bring, I do know that I'll enjoy it immensely. Thanks for sharing insight into your life and the people who populate it.
Great upload Matt and Ricky joking about the size of the coffee mug absolutely cracked me up. I drink my coffee and tea out of my old faithful sports direct mugs lol
The man's done it all liked his acting he was good ...cheers for sharing another interesting vid ..Nice on mate ..Ricky made me laugh when he said he didn't know whether to cut someone's hair or do a blag on the local post office lol..brilliant to watch you guys chatting..Nice one matt 👍🏻💯🥊
Great video Matt. Haven't laughed so much in ages! Nice to see you both, having a banter, and hearing first hand stories of all those legends.Keep up the good work lads!🥊🥊🥊
Absolutely brilliant stuff again, Matt! Fantastic reminiscences and anecdotes from Ricky - such a warm and genuine vibe from both of you. Great spar in the end section. My old man, Les, who unfortunately passed away recently, aged 96, would have absolutely loved this. He was a boxing fanatic from Tottenham who boxed for the army during WWII and loved the sport and all the characters. Take care mate and keep up the top work!
Each time I think it couldn't possibly get any better,.... you pull another diamond out Matt 👌🙌. I've been a big fan of Ricky since as long as I can remember. A very funny proper London geezer. DVD's are old hat nowadays Matt. But I haven't got rid of my entire collection. I shifted about 500, but I kept about 50 of my all time favourites. And one of those 50 DVD's is a BBC sitcom called 'ORRIBLE'. Ricky and Johnny Vaughan share the starring roles. If you haven't seen 'ORRIBLE' Matt, all 8 x episodes of the only series they ever made are here on RU-vid. Me and my old lady bought the double dvd on its release date. When we first watched it over 20 yrs ago now, we pissed ourselves and busted a few ribs each. ORRIBLE is in my top 3 of the funniest sit coms I've ever seen. Its feckin hilarious Matt. Johnny Vaughan plays a taxi driver who makes out he's a 'proper dodgy geezer' and he always makes out he's got something big going down with some serious local firms. And Ricky plays his loyal best mate, Sean. Sean isn't the sharpest tool in the box. Very trusting and naive. But he's a big old lump, so people give him a shout when they need a bit of muscle etc. The whole show is full of very funny characters, but without a shadow of a doubt, the funniest character of all is 'Sean Orloff' who's played superbly by Ricky Grover. Each of the 8 x episodes is a new story with a new plot. So it's very fresh to watch. The show revolves around a load of dodgy geezers from all walks of life. They all use the same 'dodgy but safe' boozer as their HQ. The many different characters are individually brilliant. For example, there's a paranoid and psychotic Scottish crime boss who they're all scared of. And everyone knows him as ... "9 mill Bill,...the jock with the glock" 🤣! Ricky always gives me a few busted ribs no matter what show/movie he's in, but his starring role as Sean 'nice but dim' Orloff in ORRIBLE, should come with a health warning on the cover. Ricky Grover is great actor, a natural comedian, and proper down to earth. When your live was up, I made a comment about Ricky with a reference to his character 'Sean', but i always knew it would go unnoticed cos not many people will have heard of ORRIBLE. It was torn apart by the critics. So the BBC only made 8 episodes. I think the problem was most likely the very raw 'near knuckle' humour. And that's a shame Matt, cos if you can find a spare hour to watch the first episode here on YT, Ricky will leave you unable to breath and nursing cracked ribs for sure. Another biblical comment of mine Matt. But I had to share it bruv. Have a great weekend 💪🥊👍😊
Hi mate, thank you for the message. I totally agree, I love Orrible aswell. I love Johnny Vaughan and Ricky. Its a proper lads show. I've watched it a few times Everything they do I love. I loved the Big Breakfast aswell, lol 🥊👊
Always did like Ricky's humour. And he's so right about the importance of humour: as you find more and more time to reminisce, that little treasure trove of grins and laughs is like the elixir of life. Bit late to the party on this one, Matt, but thanks to you both for a half-hour well spent.
Loved this podcast, after a shitty couple of weeks I can honestly say it cheered me up no end and made me laugh. Be sure to give Ricky's channel a shout out when he starts it.
Fucking epic, Ive never commented on anything before but that was brilliant. More true stuff pls. By the way, I used to box with the great Ian John Lewis, lovely man .
@@mattlegg1976 How come it is so hard to find any film footage, and only a couple of pictures of Bill The Bomb, considering the amount of Roy Shaw And Lenny ? He sounds like a fascinating character .
Seems to be everyone’s jumping on the Bill The Bomb bandwagon nowadays , no offence but we were talking about him 20 years ago when Judas Pig was first released . Still great to see him get the recognition he deserves though , better late than never . Curiously , not so many people keen to talk about Davy Hunt or Ray Barton (other than on 2 videos on here) … Hope you’re well mate
I'm from east London and heard about Bill from when I was a kid in the late 80s. There are so many stories, it's nice to finally find out what was actually true or not.
@@WorldCupWillie Like all legends , there’s a lot of fiction mingled with fact . There are lots of stories about him over on BoxRec . Such as the time he got ambushed by 5 blokes when he was pissed up and got hospitalised . He checked himself out of hospital two hours later and was seen stomping down Barking Road with a hammer in one hand and the i.v drip still attached to his arm in the other . Proper character
Trust Matt and his account of events/people. I'm up in the North East originally from North West and never heard of Bill The Bomb 💣 until recently possibly due to him being down south and I was a kid when he doing his thing.. Sounds a force and I feel it's admirable to keep/share his legacy.
Thank you Bob. Yeah Bill wasn't really in the public eye , like Lenny and Roy and the others. Definitely deserves a book about his life. There is an interview of Dave Hunt on RU-vid, he's talking about his Pigeons. All the best 👊🥊
Truly loved that.your best yet. Thanks for the bit about Mr Bronson. He is so much more then anybody knows. He gave me some advice when I was younger that stayed with me big time. 🐻
Matt i really enjoy all your podcasts. This one was cracking. Ricky seems like a fantastic bloke. Genuine and sincere. Great stories that had me laughing out loud. The best of respects to you both. Martin
Ha ha that was awesome, great stories especially the 'Bronson' revelation😎 My favourite so far, loved the banter and spar at the end, big guys still got some moves 😂. Thank Matt properly made me chuckle 👍🏻💪🙏😎
Really like this, two proper people having a good chat, time to answer questions and letting each other talk, be great to be in the pub with them bet they would be great company
I was born in Plaistow, went to school on West Ham Lane and grew up in Stratford. I remember many of the people Mr Grover talked about. Even though I was kid, some of these characters, when they were kids were real people by the time they were 10. Loved watching this, brought back happy memories.
Just catching up with this video now matt. Thank you both Ricky and Matt. Thank you both for having such good characters, the young lads in the UK today need as many good role models as possible. Best wishes
What a character Ricky is, this is a brilliant video..I can't really say interview, as it's much more familiar than that..and all the better for it. Matt, you really are fantastic at this type of format- you really have a knack for letting people open up, you don't try to dominate the conversation like some 'interviewers'..great stuff! I'll never forget the first time I saw the Bulla/Parkinson interview..absolute comic gold 😂
Been looking forward to this chat , please do more of these sit down chats Matt it’s great viewing & thoroughly enjoyable with decent fellas telling great stories . Great stuff ,long may it continue mate
Best podcast yet Matt, great stories from Ricky, what a lovely fella, 😂 looking forward to seeing his RU-vid channel. And hearing more stories about his life. Maybe call his RU-vid Channel "More Coffee" and seeing you both sparring at the end was lovely 😊 good Luck to you both and already a Fan of Ricky Grover 😂❤
Very well done on this one Matt, and Ricky too, extremely entertaining and certainly something very different. I recall Ricky in one of the Guy Richie films that was a cross between comedy and serious. Good format this, and look forward to more of this type of very interesting life history chat. Brilliant.
i had the pleasure of meeting Ricky i did some work in his front garden a new gas cylinder and he had some great story to tell and he would come out with coffee & biscuits for me and my son all the time really nice bloke ,enjoyed this podcast
What a great watch that was, a very entertaining 34 minutes, thank you. It was interesting, funny, and gave an insight to lives very different from my own. I wish it had been 2 hours, but I will be looking both of you up on here from now on. Thanks again, Bob.
