So many people have covered this song, but there's just something about Ricky's voice, coupled with the lyrics that just tear my heart apart. No one else captured the absolute melancholy and hopelessness quite like he did. It's a shame this was never released as a singe.
This is the sweetest, genuine singing of this precious heart felt gem. He is deeply in love and singing while laying in a dark room with tears of emotion.

How melancholic this singer is; i just discover him and i love him, his shadowy and soft voice and so much sadness; what a life he had, the success when he was very young but with secret heartaches hidden behind his appearence of good looking and gentle boy, feelings of abandonment; he almost never smiles on the videos despite all these girls dreaming of him; i think he effectively knows loneliness as a Teenage Idol, the song he sings so wistfully. In fact, he was a legend in his time (just behind Elvis Presley) with retained tears and old lost loves. I love his way of singing. Something shy but with a lot of warmth and still hope in his voice...

Young guys often are awkward and shy and girls just think they don't like them because they are scared to talk to them. Ricky just had that dreamy way about him though so the the girls probably approached him if he so much as blinked in their direction he looked a bit sad so they all lined up to try and make him smile. So then everyone is in love with him but probably the girl he likes feels rejected.
