I used this to fix my Ricoh GRII and it was extremely helpful. there are some mild differences (the screen is much easier to access in the GRii), but overall very close for anyone else looking to try this. was pretty easy! save $500 and do it yourself!!! Thanks!

thanks for the tips. Very useful. I'm not replacing the screen, just trying to clean up the buttons and connectors because some of the buttons aren't responding. I'm really struggling to get the ribbon back into the socket. I'm having a break now but I hope i'll manage when I get back to it.
I went too far and too fast, and ended up breaking the fragile little connectors so my old Ricoh is useless… My advice would be to take plenty of time and use the right tools! Or get someone else to do it (that's what I should have done). @@flyj26599
OK I changed the screen, I think I put back the connector (the one at 15:30) back in the right place, when I turn the camera on the screen is OK but the control panel (play, menu, u-d-r-l, trash, disp) won't react at all... is it due to that connector? I'm gonna die...
+La Cazouille I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. It seems to be a common problem when putting back that flex ribbon cable. I had a similar issue. It's quite difficult to put it precisely in the connector, even a millimeter off it will not function completely. For example, I had a similar issue where there seem to be a "short-circuit", when I press the Fn2, instead of giving me the Timer function, it crosses with the "Macro" function. When I adjusted the connector very carefully using tweezers and flat head screw driver, it brought back the Timer function, but then the Up / Right keys don't work. It can be quite frustrating. Another possibility is that the ribbon cable may be broken when you removed it, but most likely it is the ribbon connector not properly making contact with the socket.
+La Cazouille Make sure the flat connector goes through under the two metal brackets on the connector. It's a bit difficult but they help to keep the ribbon in place, otherwise when you press down the white flap to secure the ribbon, it does not make a complete contact across the connector.
