Evening street photography can offer very vibrant sun images with high contrast, and rich colors. The best time to find this light is an hour before sunset or after sunrise. This video shows some of that late evening light at its finest, with images shot from my Ricoh GR III, using Snap Focus of 2 meter distance.
Snap focus on the Ricoh GR III allows you to set a focal length and not worry about focusing on your subject, making it the perfect camera for Street Photography, or just walking around snapping photos. You can purchase this camera, or any of the accessories in my description below. Thanks for your support and continued viewing!

You have a rare gift that could be the envy of every street photographer and that is to comfortably engage with any of the subjects you'd like to photograph and that has to be because you have an honesty in your approach. When you told the woman how much you admired her hair and took time to also include her friend the expressions on their faces and in the resulting photographs were priceless. Blessings on your keen eye, your warmth, and for taking the time out to share your gifts.

Thanks for the comment and compliments Eddie! Nice to know it's coming across that way. The easiest thing to do in life is give someone a compliment, and for a photographer it's a priceless currency! Do it with conviction and people's defenses will melt away and they'll usually open up. I enjoy doing it and when I get a 'score' it's very satisfying indeed! And if they walk away feeling like you meant the compliment (which I do) hopefully it'll give them a little lift in their day as well. Win-Win! Thanks again, and hope you'll continue to watch!

Thanks! Someone walking a dog is an invitation for a photo op lol but I'm always prepared to jump back if they go into attack mode or something ... never know!

nice sharp photos and the colors pop again. I'm curious what you think of the new firmware and whether other settings are needed 👍✌😍

I love the fact that Ricoh is still taking care of their customers and updating the cameras. They could have ONLY updated the IIIx and start pushing everyone in that direction, but either way, nice they're still upgrading. I don't see a lot of difference, but I don't use the jpegs and some of the upgraded features. The eye-detection however is a HUGE advancement and I like the way it works. It'll be featured in some upcoming videos (these were all shot before the firmware update was available), and I'll definitely address the new features.

Looking into the griiix it's close to my favorite focal length.

That 40mm is more and more enticing to me Steve! I go back and forth on the idea, but I tend to crop and probably end up with close to 40mm anyway lol Eager to hear how it works out for you if you pull the trigger.

Did you tryed the option to take pictures by toutching the screen instead of the shutter button? Do you think it makes any diference in the "shaking" of the camera and produce less blurry images? Or in the end becouse of high shutter speed it ending making no diference?
@DozierGraphic
@DozierGraphic Год назад
I don't use the touch screen because you have to use two hands, and it's obvious you're taking a photo. I prefer to 'scissor hold' the camera and use my thumb on the shutter button. Can shoot from the hip, stomach area, or any way you want without appearing to be 'pressing the shutter' or 'touch the back' to take the image. Just my comfort zone.

Great dog pics :) You've gotta find your way to a more dense city--higher volume of candids in the same amount of time perhaps?
@DozierGraphic
@DozierGraphic 2 года назад
Thanks so much Max! I appreciate the comment. However, it weren't for crime, etc I would have been all over the country this year. But can't even go downtown in Indianapolis after dark for fear of theft, gunshots, etc and it's that way on any given night in most cities. Not worth the chance, or expense unfortunately. Here's hoping for more sanity in 2022!

@@MaxMautner I was literally a few hours from leaving for Chicago when a person had been murdered in the entryway of the hotel I had reservations at in downtown Chicago. I cancelled lol wasn't the hotel's fault, and I'm sure I would have been fine, but it seemed like an omen, so I decided to hold off. We'll see about the future!

@@DozierGraphic there’s gotta be nicer stretches of these cities with higher foot traffic to be in at sundown-like in Chicago I’d assume that the shopping area of Magnificent Mile is ok, or the waterfront of North Avenue Beach. Don’t mind me, just armchair quarterbacking from a distance 😂
@DozierGraphic
@DozierGraphic 2 года назад
@@MaxMautner Oh I'm sure most cities are safe in the day, but that requires either driving several hours to get there, or spend the night (expenses). That was my plan in Chicago, until the shootings, so I'm likely not traveling until next spring when hopefully people come to their senses and order is restored instead of allowing the criminals to run people off the streets.

Hi Jason I really enjoyed your video! One question came to mind. When you changed the battery you said you had taken 338 pictures how much time are you spending going through them at home? How many pictures do you keep? On a lot of your videos you ask someone if you can take their picture and you tell them you will send them a photo and give them your business card. If they do send you a email asking for a photo, how do you remember what picture that is, if you have handed out several cards to different people? Best wishes, Duane
@DozierGraphic
@DozierGraphic 2 года назад
Hi Duane! Couple points: I try not to go beyond a 2 to 1 ratio when it comes to photography. Meaning, if I spend an hour shooting, I don't want to spend more than 2 hours editing. If it's a 'job' that's usually right on point, if it's 'play' like street photography it's sometimes a little quicker on the editing end. I don't do a lot with the street photos, mainly the brightness, decide whether b&w or color, add some contrast (or a LOT lol), clarity and a few tweaks and it's ready to go. Takes longer to create the video than it does to edit all the images from the shoot. Also, I use 100 photos in a video, meaning out of 100 photos shot on the walk, I'll use whatever comes out in those 100 shots to make a video - usually about 30-50 images. So in a 300-images photowalk (like this one) I'll make three videos, and each video will have an average of 30-50 images - so I'm about 50 percent usually on usuable photos (but only about 10 percent what I'd consider 'quality' photos, the rest are for educational/instructional purposes for the video). Hope that breakdown helps a little. Also, the battery life depends on TIME, not number of photos. I can get 350 photos out of one battery if I'm shooting non-stop (as I do sometimes) but if you're walking around for an afternoon taking an occassional shot here or there, you'll get a lot less. The lesstime you have the camera on, the more photos you can get in a shorter period of time (just a fun fact for ya lol).
