Quickly switching between 21mm-e (equivalent) to 28mm-e within a few seconds to take the shot you want how you want it. I do this so often it's muscle memory and way faster than dealing with two prime lenses on interchangeable cameras. Yeah i wish they had a 40-50mm-e version that would be game changing...!

Agreed! Thank you for sharing your experience with the 21mm lens. Another benefit you get when using it is that you don't risk getting dust on sensor. Should we start a petition for Ricoh to bring 40mm equiv. lens for GR4? :)

@@PetrGardianTV I wish maybe they already thought of this for the GR III. I'm also surprised nobody else is challenging the GR at the moment - some have tried but never took the crown. I'd like to push for a yes on this one either way though.

@@leeh0795 That makes two of us! :) Ricoh have a long history with GR cameras and that is hard to beat with a brand new device. I'm curious if Fujifilm will come up with another competitor. Their previous attempts were close!

No. It covers the whole sensor.

is it impossible to put filters when using the gw-4 lens with it?

It has a filter thread and the lens curve doesn't seem to be too high, so it should be possible. I don't have filters of that size, so cannot test it out, sorry!

Have you tried mounting a GT-2 to your Adapter? I think the threads are the same size. . . I'm very curious to know if it works.

I have not had the chance yet but it should work - at least mechanically (size and fit is compatible). But I don't think Ricoh have released a firmware update for GR3 to recognize/correct the GT-2 adapter (or maybe they don't want to?). I'll try it as soon as I can!

If it's 49mm it will work with the adopter.

You can actually get a very cheap GA-1 adopter for like USD$16 which does not include connector leads which notify the camera about using additional lens. But you can still enable the "external adopter/lens" option in the menu settings to notify you are using additional lens. In most cases GA-1 adopter is used to offer weather protection from dust and water and you really don't need the pricey GA-1 adopter.

I know about those cheaper adapters but with GA-1 you are getting optical corrections for the wide angle lens and with that better image quality (marginally but still...). Otherwise, if dust is a problem, the cheap adapters make sense.

@@PetrGardianTV Yes, That's right. If you are using a wide angle lens you may want to use the costly adopter. I only need the adopter to protect the lens from dust.Also if one is tech savvy the connector leads can be Bridged with a small copper strip on the cheap adopter and trick the camera into thinking you are using a pricey adopter.

@@PetrGardianTV Awesome! GA-1 adopters are really very costly. In USA it costs like $49 but in Australia it costs an equivalent of $68USD+shipping. A $18 adopter from china looks too sweet to not buy. :)

If you mean the noise that focusing motors make, then yes. All GRs do that - the motors have to move the whole lens in order to focus. It's not a big deal for me though.

Why don't you use a GoPro for your hikes? It would be so better and convenient for you. I have the GR3 and I love it, but I never use it for make action videos - I always use my GoPro 7 for those duties.

I do use my GoPro on hikes and it works great. It would just be awesome if Rthe GR3 had better video with that large sensor and IBIS. Maybe the next gen!

i bought the aftermarket adapter ring because i only want it to be able to screw 49mm filters that i have for my A7RIII on the GR (more specifically the creative filters like the ones that make star flares, haze, ND etc..) so the lack of electronic indicators is not an issue fortunately :)

Yes, it makes sense to save some money and get an aftermarket adapter if you'll not use the wide angle lens :)
