If you are interested in the accessories mentioned in the video, I've just posted a long 2-Part Video about everything I've tried throughout the years with my personal thoughts. Check it out! Part I: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7QURtfxgxPk.html
Would highly recommend trying the turning the "Touch AF" setting to "AF Point+Focus+Shoot" if you use the touch screen for focusing, the second it locks focus it takes the photo without you pressing the shutter. Means you can almost hold the camera like a smartphone when shooting portrait photos which makes it very discreet! 🙌🏻
Yep, so convenient. I use it from time to time. But for the sake of demonstrating how fast this camera can acquire focus I decided to use it the way I did. Thank you for taking your time and writing the comment! Appreciate it! 🙏
Congrats with your third video. Love your photography and I admire you as I can't imagine how hard it is to stay creative when it's war going on in your country. Stay safe and see you on your next photography adventure👍
You say everything that many people who own cameras don't always say. Cameras are different things to different people. One camera will never be the end of our constant search for whatever. Each camera is like a close friend with different quirks that we love and appreciate. Thanks for reminding us of that, if for some reason we forget.
I love my GR III, and the image quality is excellent. For something so small it feels just right in my hand, and also has just the right amount of control at your finger tips. Nice work. Keep it up!
This was such an amazing video !!!!! Thank you for showing it from FPV ..it really helped me see how it operates and how things look . I'm so excited to get mine . Thank you again
Great video and shots! I like that you showed both JPEG and RAW versions - those JPEGs were very nice. Your video was the final one to convince me ... can't wait for mine to arrive
Thank you for making this video, very different from all the other reviews I've watched on this camera, actually seeing how you are using it on screen is really helpful, been trying to decide if I want the iii or the iiix love what they both produce. Hope you are ok and stay safe. ❤
Glad it was helpful! If I could, I would get both, haha. But in all seriousness, you can't go wrong with either of them. But if it's too hard to choose, and you have a way to try before buy, I would do that for sure. Thank you for the support!
I really enjoyed your listening to your thoughts about this camera and seeing your sample photos. It’s a great little camera that I’m looking forward to using one day. 🤙🏼
Would love to see more videos along these lines. I just ordered a GR III. My a7c + 28mm f/2 is one of my favorite lens/body combos, and I was excited to have a really small device with a similar field of view. Love to see more ideas of how to use the machine.
Super vid my friend. I'm not an owner of a GR yet but hopefully one day . 🙂 Whenever I hear people saying about dust in these cameras I am positive its because people keep them in their pockets. Pockets can be full of fluff and dust. I think when I get one eventually I will keep it in a simple pull tie velvet pouch in my pocket to eliminate risk of my pocket fluff 😄 🇬🇧🇺🇦🇬🇧🇺🇦🇬🇧❤🙏👊✌
amazing video, just ordered a diary edition, and cant wait to use it, as my fuji xpro 3 grabs too much attention sometimes. i wanted to ask, where can i get the glass cover for the lens? thank you!
Congrats! I like the look of that diary edition but can't justify buying another camera, hehe... The full name of the sticky lens filter is smth. like "Deerekin MCUV Filter Lens for GRIII GRIIIx". You can get it on Aliexpress for sure, maybe eBay, not so sure about Amazon though. And thanks for watching! Geez, Deerekin time for the sponsorship guys...
Thank you for watching! If by the lens cover, you mean the sticky filter, I believe it is made by Deerekin or something. And if you meant that "hood looking thingy"-it is made by NiSi (Ricoh GR III Lens Adapter). The spare battery sleeve is handmade by me. Hope it helps! Cheers!
Agree, the GrIII is my EDC camera. Love it. I had both the III and IIIx and the accessory lenses. I like the camera by itself. Less is more in this case. And like you I prefer the 28mm to the 40mm. Great, great lenses in both camera.
Love your philosophy. I have a GRiiix and I've gotten used to it but I'd love to have both tbh! All the best, keep taking those beautiful GR pics, stay safe and sending love to Ukraine and Ukrainians everywhere 🇺🇦
No one ever imagined that one day a little pocket rocket like this could do the things that it does. Great video Sir thank you for sharing this with us all , and God Bless your country in its struggles for freedom and democracy.
Excellent video. I also love my street edition copy as well. I noticed the silver ring on yours appears almost chrome and without the outer edge serrations. May inquire what ring that is? Thank you sir.
Thank you! It's the ring that comes bundled with the NiSi filter adapter. Not sure if you can buy it separately, but you can try to find it. Hope it helps!
Hi..great video made. I am interesting about your filter on the camera… having dilemma on whether stick the UV filter on this camera? And also, I having street edition…. Shall I get a cloth for this camera to cover it it’s nice asphalt skin😬
Thank you! Only you can decide whether you need the filter or not. The same goes for the case. It depends on your use cases. I just wanted to showcase the options and what there is to use. It's not necessarily the one and only right way to do things. But having options is good.
Thanks for watching! The brand name is Deerekin. Full name is smth like "MCUV Filter Lens for GRIII GRIIIx" probably still available on the aliexpress or eBay. Sorry, I have no link or affiliation with those guys, I just found out what worked for me at that time, so can't really post any links here. Hope you'll find it. Cheers!
Thanks! I almost never use those. I feel like, as you mentioned, crop in the editor is more convenient. Can also crop in the camera raw converter if necessary. I think it could be more useful to somebody who only shoots JPEG. You know, assign it to the FN button to have the quick access to it and shoot away. Cheers!
With 35mm crop at 16MB it's still more than iPhone's main 12MB, so for online use it's more than enough. I set my video button as crop shortcut cos I never shoot video with the GR
Hi, I like your video! one question, do you hqve the reference of the lens hood we can see on your x100v at 2:19 please? it seems to be from Fuji. thanks!
I had the x100v and had a hard time connecting with it. A decent camera but I need something smaller for street. Trying to decide on the iii or iiix. Have you experienced any issues with the back dpad wheel?
I feel that! The reasoning is pretty much the same for me. So far on my camera the dpad didn't develop any issues, but the one I've got for testing from the local Ricoh office some years ago was down bad. Didn't stop me from switching, though. As for III or IIIx, only you can decide of course, if you win a lottery by any chance just get both haha.
My question is why did they add a bright gold ring to the lens for the “street” edition when you’re trying to be discreet? At the same time, the gold ring could be a focal point so people turn to look at it while you snap the shot. #armchairphotophilosopher
It shows that the highlights are overexposed to some degree. It is especially useful when shooting Jpeg only. Not too critical when shooting in DNG (raw) because you have some leverage in post there.
Could be, depends on one's needs. Imho, still bigger than a FlashQ, no tilt head. And for taking it off camera, require additional triggers, unlike the FlashQ. I mean, if the kit size doesn't matter, it's all good, maybe even with the P-TTL cable, if you feel like it. Thanks for the comment!
It's made by a few companies, as far as I know. Ulysses-photo (Japanese I believe), Cam-In Photo (Chinese)-not sure about their web-sites, but they could be found on eBay I think. Not sponsored though. Hope this helps!
Thank you for watching! It's my own preset made in the Capture One (I have a few of them), basically a “one click” type of edit. Maybe I'll share it in the future if there is enough interest.
The brand name is Deerekin. Full name is smth like "MCUV Filter Lens for GRIII GRIIIx". The benefit of this one is that it's thin enough to even be used with the GA-1 adapter + filter or GW-4 wide angle lens. While the popular JJC one is too thick for that, and you'll get the lens error. No hate on JJC though, just designed for the different occasion. Hope it helps someone! Cheers!

Mine is made by the company called Deerekin. (Lens protector for the Ricoh GRIII). You can find them on Amazon or Aliexpress, I believe. There is also a JJC one, which looks similar, but it's thicker and tends to collect the dust around it, so I wouldn't buy that one. In addition to that, the one I use can still be used with the GW-4, which is impossible with the JJC. Hope this helps.
I started with Sony RX100, then Sony A6000 and A6300, Sony A7 III. I recently purchased the GR IIIx, and so far has taken about 800 photos. The lens photo quality is awesome. I even like it more than my Sony A7 III. The best part is, it fit in any front pants pocket. The autofocus is good enough for me. Face recognition is not bad at all. I'm having a lot of fun this camera so far.
Not sure why you Ricoh reviewers ask for a flash, weather/dust proof, and better battery life expect the camera to stay the same small size. There’s only so much they can do and keep the camera small. I would love to see you saying why they don’t have these things
Honestly, I don't expect anything, since I already bought it, and I knew exactly what I'm getting into, hehe. I just gave my humble thoughts about what could be considered as drawbacks for some people who are in the market for this camera and tried to provide the solutions. Because whenever I do the research for something I consider buying - those are the things I look for from people who already bought it. Pretty simple. Thanks for watching!
@@Alex_SMK sounds good. Point is everyone wants everything from a tiny package and it’s not possible. Why not go even further and ask for a smaller body, zoom lens etc. better to explain why we can’t get everything We want.
Didn't use it, but from the first glance, I can tell at least 2 things. They are completely different cameras intended for the different tasks. And they have too big of a generational gap to be adequately compared. But hey, whatever floats your boat, at the end of the day, it's your money and your choice. Thanks for the comment!
Героям слава! GX9 is a great camera, especially that viewfinder! I know the GAS is real, but maybe try to rent the GRIII first, or borrow from a friend. Because it is definitely not for everyone. Especially the 28 mm, is what usually turn people away from it. Thanks for watching!
@@Alex_SMK if I list the attributes of GX9 then there is no reason to think about a Ricoh GR (but it doesn’t stop me) 😆 Usually I think that I can use the 600 bucks to travel to Portugal/Germany/Poland and then I’m ok again 😂
