People want to be like Riddick because he can deal with his fu*ked up life better than they can.

Difference is, when you are like Riddick, your pain and suffering motivates you to survive, and instead of choosing to be a victim of the circumstance. You can be born in unfortunate circumstances and choose to prevail past those circumstances and grow as person, or wallow in your despair.; wallowing in your despair achieves nothing productive, while finding a way to fight it and move forward at least keeps you from being hindered by your circumstances. We all have problems, but it takes a strong person to make the best of their problems and continue moving forward: that is exactly what Riddick is, a survivor. Survivors do not focus on how bad their circumstances are, they focus on what they can do at the moment to move themselves forwards; victims allow despair to engulf them. In reality, our problems are not as severe as Riddick, yet he finds a way to manage; meanwhile, the average humans succumb to petty issues created by their own choices most of the time, and if it is not a result of their choice, they refuse to find the strength to persevere, simply because it takes too much effort.
