Great video. I was an explorer for LA County back in the day. We enjoy the tone outs and dispatch, and of course the code 3 response. It is always an adrenaline rush when the tones go off! Be safe and good luck with your career aspirations! Keep the videos coming.

What’s LAFD’s policy, full gear and seat belt on before you roll? Do people follow that or it’s heavily enforced?

fine eye haha. it's "traffic accident, category 3" in LAFD's CAD, i'm not 100% sure what that entails, as it's a dispatch code specific to their dispatch system, but i assume it involves an ALS patient as this call was upgraded from BLS RA only to engine & paramedic RA (BLS RA able to handle upon arrival). to my understanding, depending on what's stated on the phone while the calltaker is inputting information, a specific call type is generated by the computer and the closest available and appropriate units for that call type are assigned. thanks for watching!

What are 5 gongs?
@FB1ResponseVideos

signifies the end of a dispatch. 1 bell is for routine messages, 4 bells is for urgent messages, 5 bells for dispatch, and 10 bells for a fire service death.

@@douglasnorby4006 that was likely edited in, the bells are in LA City stations. LA County only has tones, no bells.

@FB1ResponseVideos
@FB1ResponseVideos 5 лет назад
the simulcast on the radio is a live dispatcher. the automated dispatch is heard in quarters only, you can’t program it into a radio, unfortunately.
@georgesaxton925
@georgesaxton925 5 лет назад
So is the live dispatch only when the units are out of station in there rigs out and about
@FB1ResponseVideos
@FB1ResponseVideos 5 лет назад
all calls are simulcasted on the radio so all the calls are still heard but not from “digital debby”, instead from a dispatcher. when units are out of quarters, there’s tones they use for units that are “on the radio”
