bought one of these november last year used with less than 10 miles on it. wanted to see if i would like an emtb without investing thousands (paid just under 1k). absolutely loved riding it, so much so that i ended buying 2 fezzari wire peaks, one with the EP8, DVO suspension, Stan's rims with cush core and one with EP6 set up with Stan's rims, got them both on clearance for a killer price. one thing not mentioned here or that i've seen elsewhere is that the fork is complete trash if you plan to ride mtb trails, anything more than a dirt or gravel road and it sounded like it was going to explode (fyi i ride in florida so no huge chunky stuff) but for the price you could pick up a decent air fork and it would be well worth it. the motor is really strong and pretty quiet. i was able to get it up to 29.8 mph on the road. i'd like to ride the aventon ramblas and see how it compares because at this price i'm thinking the prodigy xc would be a better deal. anyway hope this may help someone who's on the fence. cheers
I hope you come back and share your experience with the Ramblas. I watched a Ramblas review where the motor made what seemed like a lot of noise. I understand the Brose is very quiet. Will be interesting to show what you think when comparing the two. To the extent this bike has a 28mph speed rating Vs rhe 20mph limit of rhe Ramblas, for me, is a big plus of for this bike over the Ramblas. But the Ramblas has some superior components relative to this.
I see the XC is $1499 now. I haven't ridden my mtn bike in about 12 years and don't plan to ride trails with big hills or lots of roots anymore. I'll probably sell my 24 yr old Gary FIsher. I'm looking for my first ebike to ride mostly paved routes with my wife and the maybe fire type trails, maybe dirt trails with gentle rolling hills. For a 67 yr old rider, not in horrible shape (5,8", 175#), would you recommend the XC or something with a throttle and torque sensor like an Aventon Adventure .2 for the riding I described? Having ridden an ebike only once and that didnt have a throttle, I cant say I would miss it, but it seems like it might be handy at times. Thanks for any thoughts.
Hi FC, Can you add a dropper post to this version of the bike? I’ve seen in some videos of the Prodigy V2 that you can’t. If you can could you recommend a dropper post for this specific bike? Thanks
I understand you are riding the XC version of the Prodigy, but It appears you keep mentioning what appears to be the prices for the oth Prodigy options, not the much more expensive XC.
