This is a live version of Riders on the Storm performed by The Doors live in Dallas, TX on 12-11-70. A recording of the early show has been available for some time but this is the late show that was partially recorded and recently released by Jim Bayliss blowing Doors fans' minds! This is the only live version of Riders On The Storm known to exist. There's debate that a recording may have been made the next night in New Orleans but until it's proven to exist this is it!
So big thanks to Jim Bayliss for posting this concert. The only reason I'm reposting this song is because I've pitch corrected it to make it sound less like Alvin and the Chipmunks. To hear Jim's original full recording here's the link:

Special thanks to the fantastic Mildequator.com and it's contributors Ballroomdays67 and Jim4371 for some of the pictures, articles and posters I used in the video. Visit the Mildequator site to read Jim Bayliss's first hand account of The Doors performance that night way back in 1970.

Not the best quality..BUT historic and for any hardcore fan its priceless. I cant speak for anyone else but I have heard nothing but rumors for years. Finally we get to hear ROTS live. I grew up hearing this song on FM radio, its as awesome today as it was back in the 70s its a timeless tune. So thank you to the taper, you made many fans very happy by sharing this. Cheers!

Thanks, much much better with a more correct speed. Anyway Riders on the storm, live from the following night in New Orleans, is a sound stage recording, with two microphones, so it's an almost professional audio. We can only hope that it will be released for everybody, soon or later.

Wow, the end was really sped up. I corrected the speed and enhanced the quality a bit in FMod and recorded that in to Audacity to remove some noise. I moved the speed by hand and did it by ear. If there's enough interest, i'll upload it to my yt

You should post it, I'm always interested in a quality upgrade. If you like your results you should apply it to the whole show which has speed issues throughout. There's a link to it in my info under the video.

Chris Nicini on the version that i download of the whole concert the rest were fine, only riders had some speed issues and a really compressed sound, most of which i fixed, but a proffesional sound editor would have done a way better job (in way better software) i'll upload it tomorrow, feel free to check it out then

There’s another corrected version “out there” that’s MUCH better. A guy spent literally two years getting it right. I corresponded with the guy for a while, but I’m thinking it was 10 years ago.

Still sounds slightly fast. But damn, Jim sounds spent. I met Ray in the early 2000s at a DVD store on Pico Blvd in LA. We talked about their last show when Ray could tell it was over. He said it was like Jim's spirit left him on stage. The LA Woman album would have been great to hear live if Jim had pulled it together somehow.

I apologize for possibly stupid question. Is Jim Morrison exactly sings on this record? The voice is somehow different,no?

As great as this is, and it is, now whoever has the tape from the next day, can we all hear it?

Thanks. Two very different perspectives on the concert on the mild equator page.

The speed is unstable thanks to the cassette technology. Does anyone have or know of a program that could be used to correct the speed error? Or maybe the cassette was played in a dodgy player.

Has anyone figured out what the issue is? It's wow error, as in wow and flutter. It could be fixed using the program called "Capstan" which would remove the wow error. Unfortunately the CAPSTAN software costs $4,500 USD. If anyone has the software it would be nice to hear the repaired version.

Poor quality. But it is Jim Morrison singing very out of it. He's almost not really singing. Too bad the concert wasn't recorded properly. A video of the concert would have been best. It's a shame Jim Morrison lost it towards the end. I can see why he realized he needed time off to recover. Instead, he died.

Ray was not a great improviser....he always relied on his organ technique to hide his mediocre improv ability...he was a solo composer not a player
