Oh my lord. I miss this game! This was one of my favourite games at the time when I was a little kid :D Also, this soundtrack to this day - is still the best soundtrack I've ever heard in a game!
I think all subsequent Ridge Racer games tried to copy the feel of this one, especially with the techno music and "blur" tail-light effect. This is the game that set the bar -- the music is untouchable.
I had this and the Gran Turismo games on my PS1. I remember preferring the GT games, but RR4 was amazing, and had probably the best menus I've ever seen in a racing video game.
I don't like arcade racers at all but I fell in love with this game bitd on the PS1, I loved the circuit that went by the airport with the planes. I still dip into it from time to time even today.
Omg I'm almost crying... This gives me so much flashbacks. I used to play this game with my sis. The bad part of it was that we didn't have memory card to save the games lol 😅
i was about 5 or 6 when i my dad first brought me a ps1. it came with a cd demo which had some classics and masterpieces like rrt4. at that time i couldn't realize why i wasn't able to play another stages in those games. this game was the one that could stimulate my imagination to another level. today i randomly remembered the name of this game after years struggling to do it. thank you so much for sharing this!
+Gabriel Bastos Guess we may have the same demo disc, a grey top with dots on it. Had ridge racer 4 demo on it with a night track also including Gran turismo 2 and wipeout 3.
9:19 This music is very similar to the menu intersession music between surgeries in the Second Opinion Trauma Center series for the Wii. I kept wondering where I had heard that music before,....it was Ridge Racer Type 4.
love this game.better than gran turismo and forza combined imho. my other fave racers are burnout 2 point of impact, project gotham racer 2 and 4,test drive unlimited 1 & 2,and f zero gx. each of the above titles have a thing called FUN! built into the gameplay ;-) sadly missing by so called "realistic" driving simulators e.t.c.
