Ridgid 18V 6.5” Circular Saw Makes The Cut 

Ridgid’s 18V 6 ½” Circular Saw is fast and easy to use with plenty of power to do the job.
It has nice spots to put both hands for easy, accurate cuts, along with a front rip fence receiver (rip fence not included). The saw powers up quickly, and the blade-brake stops the saw almost immediately after releasing the safety-protected trigger.
The vacuum hose attachment is nice, since the alternative is just a port without the correct diameters for 1 ¼” and 1 ¾” vacuum hoses to attach. I’d like to see a friction-fit dust bag like the bag that comes with their orbital sander. It would fill up quickly, but it would be a nice option for the days when just a few cuts are needed to keep the dust down without needing a vacuum; my eyes and lungs would be grateful.
Several people has asked about the light mentioned in the manufacturer’s description--mind didn’t come with a light. Perhaps the description is a mistake, or my unit was shipped to me before the LED was available.
The aluminum base is very sturdy with nice, deep measurement markings running the width and length of the base, along with a 45-degree guage on the front. It adjusts easily for depth and lean angle, as expected. At full lean, it will cut a 50-degree into a 2x4, and JUST BARELY get through it. The face cut will be perfect, the tail will have a tiny, maybe 1/16” thick, where it isn’t angled; one cut and what I’m saying will make sense. So, anything under 50 degrees will be perfect on a 2x4.
This 6 ½” circular saw is a solid performer with plenty of power, even with the 2Ah battery I used. Because it’s cordless, I see this getting used more and more frequently, and MUCH more often than any of my corded options.
