RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless Ratchets Review [R866010, R866011, & R866012] 

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ru-vid.comUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

Good looking ratchets with good torque overall but I was impressed with the 1/4” overall torque. Great reviews and good pricing too.

I got the 1/4 as it was on sale, considering getting the impact ratchet as well. I already have the standard impact drivers, but I like the ratchet formfactor for a lot of different reasons even when it is not needed specifically for a given situation.

When you laid them down without batteries, it looked like they just rolled over and died!

Thank you for another great video brother. Honestly it does seem that Ridgid new line of tools is impressive. I watched their 1/2 impact perform very well also. If a tool does its advertised spec I am satisfied.

The reason why people seem to be getting different torque values as opposed to what the OEM states on the spec sheets is because the OEM test their product by attaching the anvil directly to a torque measuring tool. They do not use sockets nor extensions during the tests. This eliminates any variations (i. e. losses) these devices impose on the tested device. Furthermore, for those who believe the tool should be tested in a real world situation, should bear in mind, that every socket or extension from different manufacturers will exert different loses that the OEM of the tool can not account for.

The downside of the low profile directional switch is if you get trigger happy and run the back of the head up against something preventing you from switching direction.

1:30... and honestly a 2 Amp Hour last quite a while... I mean you can back out quite a few Fasteners on a 2amp hour battery I have the three eighths version of this and I use a two a h battery on it and I use it for quite a while..👍 These are good ratchets...imo...☝️

i have all rigid and last month i bought the m12 3/8th extended reach lol NOW they come out with a rigid cordless ratchet! my luck lolol

The battery kills this as a good unit. Just too damn bulky. I'll be getting the Milwaukee's for a 3/8" ratchet.

Why the big ass battery? Thats why milwaukee is king. The small batteries are just a better design.

My cars wheel nuts are torqued to 80 ft/lbs. I only use a 1/2" socket, it would never occurred to me to get a 1/4" or 3/8" socket they're not meant for that much torque.

Not surprised the 1/4 anvil broke at 100 Ftlb, the SAE specs for 1/4” is below 100 ftlb. I don’t remember the exact number, but it’s definitely below 95, might be as low as 65 (but I think that’s for universal joints).

Great video thanks for making it. I would love to have one of those but Home Depot Canada won't bring them in or even special order them. So as much as I need and want one I am out of luck.

Correction on the warranty. It’s a 3yr warranty, not 90 day. If you register within 90 days of purchase, you get the Lifetime Service Agreement.

Great review. These are way over priced right now. Especially when you consider rigid recommends you do not use them manually at all due to damage that may occur to the tool. Whereas, every other cordless ratchet gives you torque specs of manual and auto usage, expecting you to use them manually. Of course if you register it with the LSA, when you do use them manually and break them, you can get it replaced for free. Everything considered, still overpriced at the moment.

If I was buying 1, which 1 should I get?

I like the way these look very good design but I do not like the short neck on the ratchets not in any brand I will consider buying them when they make them with an extended reach say about 6"- 8" and not until then now I am a big fan of Ridgid tools but I will not buy any of these until they make the neck longer

While waiting for the Ryobi HS ratchets to go on sale/discount (they still haven't), I ended up buying one of these instead (the 1/4" drive). Something is mentioned in this video which I think needs to be highlighted. The part about it being "very balanced with a 2Ah battery" is of significant importance. You don't really realise it until you go to use it but the weight distribution, trigger design, and overall feel of this tool is quite simply, awesome. It feels very "natural" to use, which is probably something lost in a sea of comparing specs and reviews and all that. For that alone, it's worth it to get one of these ratchets. I have an M12 and a Hercules as well, and the Ridgid beats them both *hands down* in ergonomics. The front part over the drive motor *is* a little bulky but it's really not much larger than is the whole M12 tool--the Ridgid at least gets skinnier through the grip. The trigger design on the Ridgid is also way better than the dumb paddle thing on the M12 and Ryobis. If anyone is on the fence about buying the Ridgid v. another brand, I'd say definitely get the Ridgid. My only thought now is to get rid of the M12 and buy the Ridgid 3/8" too lol. (I probably won't do that but I'll end up using the 1/4" a lot now I think.)

I don't really like how fat the body is on the 1/4". Getting in tight spaces is the name of the game, but it looks like I'd basically need a deep socket on any fastener.

As a mechanic, I would never use these to break or set torque. Real technicians just don't do that.

Very similar to the Dewalt design,my issue is the battery pack sticks out the side and reduces access.Ill stick with Milwaukee.

Although promised, NO new Ridgid batteries have the power of Octane 3Ah's yet. Would like to see this test re-done with those. As you may recall Ridgid's R86211 with a 21700-driven Octane 3Ah beat Milwaukee's hi-torque on TTC testing.

Seriously all Ridgid tools have a 3-year warranty and then a lifetime service agreement when you register them within 90 days.

None of them have the side battery contacts on the battery terminal. @Shop Tool Reviews the 6ah and the 4ah are the EXACT same size my friend

These wrenches look different than what Home Depot is showing Model # R8721B on 6 30 23 and they are saying 250ft lbs. I was ready to purchase DeWalt 512B but it is only rated at 70 Ft lbs. Any thoughts.

👏👏👏👏 I watch Rainman Ray Repairs on RU-vid. He uses the running method to breakaway nuts or he’ll use his strength to break loose nuts then let the ratchet do the rest. Sometimes he has to bring out a bigger tool. Thank you for doing these videos, on the 1/4” ratchet you showed what not to do. Watching your channel plus TTC, I’m making the right choices on my purchases. You stressed the importance of quickly registering Ridgid power tools for lifetime service agreement, I’ve heard horror stories about Ridgid doing everything that they can not to service the tool saying it’s your abuse of the tool. Keep’m coming. So far it looks like Milwaukee has the right battery location

why are these ratchets electronically designed to cut off at a specified torque? That's what it seems like anyways with the blinking lights

When doing these tests, can you test out the tightening capabilities of these wrenches also? For example - A test showing these tightening 3 [or 5] bolts up to what torque do they max out to? I view this type of tool as more useful for tightening than loosening. Thanks for your testing regardless.

The Imperial unit for torque is POUND-FEET.

Your test stand really does not test that impact correctly there are test benches for this.Secondly when you tighten any nut and bolt you create friction which any heated nut bolt will break more easily.Lastly a tool like this needs to be tested in real world conditions. I would love to take that 1/2 inch and put it up against my I.R on the trucks I work on.

Ridged will never be Milwaukee

The 1/2" is just a complete waste I'm definitely disappointed in Ridgid they finally ad a ratchet that's comparable to every other 18v
