Hey a little FYI for anyone out there trying to install this thing. This video doesn't cover the important parts so if you have trouble try these tips: first the end should be cut or at least ground flat, my angle grinder did it in a couple minutes. Next tip is to pry the end of the repair coupling open with a screwdriver and stick a penny in it. Don't put it in too deep just enough to keep it open. Add a second penny 180 degrees to keep the spring pried open. I then added a little oil to the snake end, which was in a vice. Don't try and do it with 2 channel locks or a pipe wrench, absolutely need a vice. You can use the penny's to help pull it towards the snake using your fingers as you twist it on. I used channel locks and kept going CCW haha.

Excellent advice about using a penny to keep part of the coupling wedged open. I tried it and it went on the snake smoothly. I dipped the snake end in graphite powder for some slight lubrication and that helped too. Lastly, I used a cresent wrench on the coupling end so as to not mar the mount , not channel locks. Thank you again for the advice!

Second bit of advice make sure you thread it the correct direction because in the video he starts it out in the right direction then when he changes position in the vise he goes the wrong direction .

Odd, after he starts the coupling and re-clamps it in the vise and then unscrews it... The cable is reverse threaded.

No, that's not possible! But it sure looks that way. Could they really have done it bass akwards and left it up?

The spring loaded pin on the coupling doesn't work anymore, is there a quick fix to connect the tools with the coupling? thanks!

CCW is the correct direction to get the new tip in. Stop the video at 0:23, look at the picture. When complete, this is how it should look like.; 3 rings on the repair tip are expanded. If you try for the 4th ring, the cable will be over torque, and break; costing you a new repair tip & time. Don't over do it. Notice how he cut the cable about 8" from the break; because near the break, the cable is "fatigue-damaged". Also, be careful of using a crescent wrench on the tip; don't damage the groove where the cleaning tools slide into the groove on the repair tip. You got to do this like the video, with a vice, crescent wrench, lubricant oil on the broken cable. The video was wrong toward the end after he reposition the cable pointing up; he was turning the repair tip CW. CW is the direction to remove the tip from the cable. Buy an extra tip as a spare; maybe even a spare 1/2" cable; the bigger cable can take more wear & tear, but it will be less flexible than the existing 3/8" cable.

I've been trying find those repair couplings for vevor 1/2im cable. I wanted cut up make few shorter sectional pieces to give me up to 80 ft. No answer from vevor. Mines brand new. This last week single nut and screw hold adaptors and tools on cable. WHERE CAN I PURCHACE DPLICE KITS AND. ADAPTOR TOOL HOLDER? Thanks in advance , good video. In fwd run cables always tightening . Some add loctight one video. In aircraft we used metal set. To take spart heat then is only way.

repair coupling? Only partially, I did not see the part where you re-attach the internal cable to the head. I'm pretty sure they are all attached as they come from the factory,. Is there a spec from ridgid on this..I mean to attach the internal cable to the end also????

I thought about this and my only explanation would be that the old cable core with flexible jacket is now acting as the cable core itself which then gets inserted into the replacement head section, if that makes any sense...

Not as easy as he shows. Comments have helpful ideas. I used a flat screwdriver to bend the thread on the new tip to get it started. Then pipe cutting oil to help screw on using vice and pliers. I got about 4 rotations. Don’t go too hard!

@MISSING 1000 YEARS I know that I'm a man. But never hurts to ask. Not sure why you are going around making emotional comments. Judging by your videos having comments turned off your a snow flake pretending to be male. But thanks for giving me your time you must not have much left.

Oof!!! Can you do a demo without making us go deaf with the massive level of extra noise you have added? It is insanely irritating. I feel so angry you are shoving this horrible noise called music down my ears. This is a demo not a rock concert!!!
