Free batteries for life is the reason I buy only Ridgid cordless tools. Bought my first cordless Ridgid drill 15-20 years ago and yes I still get free batteries for it.

I have one of these and it is probably the most powerful impact out there, or at least it is in the top. The top-of-the-line Milwaukee is pretty powerful too and they are pretty close to each other. a lot of people don't like it because they feel like they can't judge when a screw is sinking properly but you get used to it
@_mrv_
@_mrv_ 7 лет назад
I just got this drill a few days ago and I love the power and run time. That said there'e several things I must point out. First and foremost this thing is HEAVY!!!! Not only is it heavy but it's very top heavy with a 2.0 battery installed. Next up is the direction selector, it is very easy to throw the switch. I found the drill likes to pop into the off position if you are not paying attention and accidentally bump the switch. Next up is the bit storage which I found to be convenient but the bit pops out very easily which is disappointing. Continuing on, this drill has a lot of sharp edges particularly on the head where the screws go into the body which gave me some decent abrasion on my thumb after several hours of use. Lastly the battery charge time is ridiculously long and unfortunately no matter what charger you have they all take about an hour to charge a 2.0 battery. All that said this is a good impact driver and has a ridiculous amount of power so if you plan to drive deck screws all day this would be a great choice. If however you mainly drive small pocket hole screws this drill might be more than you need and I'd recommend Makita's oil impact driver for that type of work instead.

Good video very informative, I have a Stealthforce brushless and 2 older 18 volt rigid impacts not to mention a whole bunch of other 18 volt Rigid tools plus a rigid chop saw, love them all, biggest problem is service, when I bring them to the local Home Desprite for service it usually takes months to get them back, or it gets lost somewhere or the tool comes back not fixed at all. I have also had registration problems on the sight ( could not find anywhere on the sight to register the tool ) even called Rigid but that was as helpful as a screen door in a submarine, but all in all I like my rigid just to bad their service and registration process seems to suck so bad.

+Real Tool Reviews The Hilti SDS rotary. He loved it! To be fair, aVe also really commented on the quality of the Rigid in many places. He just noted that over time, the hydraulic hammer impact will lose it's effectiveness as the vane inside wears away due to impact. I have also read reviews from people that have used the stealth in a daily-use environment that commented on torque loss over time as well.

Great review! The oil impulse is an interesting concept, and clearly has its advantages as your review so vividly demonstrates. Time will tell just how robust the tool is. I'd like to give one a try and add it to my arsenal, but I'm not buying into the otherwise limited Rigid battery line just for the Stealth Force.

You keep comparing the Stealth Driver to the Brushed Driver. I assume you mean the Gen 5X Brushless??
@michaelmazzen
@michaelmazzen 8 лет назад
Interesting design... But def not a silver bullet - way too much vibration with bigger fasteners - I think makitas approach to a less noisy impact is more sensible, i can't see why you shouldn't get the Makita instead - except of course the whole batt platform thingy :-) - also Check out AvE's tear down - he suspects the mechanism gonna wear out pretty fast which seems likely given the design ...
@mesa620
@mesa620 8 лет назад
The Makita has way less power.
@michaelmazzen
@michaelmazzen 8 лет назад
+Dick Fageroni With all due respect, that is a bit harsh. It's my understanding that the gentleman in question has a phd in engineering, and he's not exactly "a mine worker" but repairs and troubleshoot various equipment and machinery of which some is used in the mining industry. Granted, his videos are tongue in cheek and meant to be entertaining. Thus thou need to apply the right mindset and you will find his videos to be both highly amusing and strangely entertaining as well as a lot more informative than your average sponsored powertool "review". The gradual loss of power which is more or less inherent in this design has so far only been observed on a purely anecdotal level, but as more actual users have had the chance to beat the crap of the tool, we'll see how well the mechanism holds up.
@michaelmazzen
@michaelmazzen 8 лет назад
+mesa620 That is a good point. Would like to see a heads to head comparison
@DougHanchard
@DougHanchard 8 лет назад
+Dick Fageroni Actually, the man does know what he's talking about. Watch his tear down video. AVe correctly points out two Achilles of hydraulic rotor pumps, 1) boiling - cavitation and 2) rotor vane wear. For the home hobby user, probably not a big deal. For the professional, I think AVe correctly points out its limitations. ITT and several other brand holding companies are going to consolidate what technology is going to be used for most battery powered tools over the next decade. There is gonna winners and definitely some losers.

Everyone knows this tool can put out 1700 impact per minute, much lower than the Gen5X brush model has 3200 impact per minute. But this tool is much powerful than the Gen5X brush/brushless model. Would you please test the torque of this tool with your torque meter? Thank you so much.

Happy is the Power Tool Company who produces a lithium battery that will last for years , and when they dont hold its charge anymore, they offer that battery with a compartment door to RE-LOAD the battery with Lithium rechargeable AA,AAA, C batteries, that way when customers buy all kinds of extra tools to expand the kit..the customer won't feel left out in the cold with useless tools after ones batteries die out.

+Real Tool Reviews Hmm... I've seen a couple places showing there is a serious torque difference for the brushless motors when using 2.0 batteries vs the 4.0 aH ones. Both Ryobi (Ridgid's sister brand) and Ridgid. To the point that the impact drill can remove truck wheel lug nuts with the 4, but not with the 2 battery. Since you've got that snazzy torque tester setup, can you test it to confirm or deny it? In some markets (Canada included), the kits only come with the 2.0 batteries-- you need to separately purchase the 4.0 ones. I'm feeling a bit ripped off if the reports are true.
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 8 лет назад
+TheJohn8765 You do get additional power with the high-capacity batteries ---- usually between 5-10% extra. It is more noticeable on higher powered tools such as impact wrenches or saws. I do have a video coming out covering that very subject ---- stay tuned!
@TheJohn8765
@TheJohn8765 8 лет назад
Real Tool Reviews Good to hear!
@Bigchuck678
@Bigchuck678 8 лет назад
i can tell you first hand that higher capacity batteries do make a huge and very noticeable difference. With 2.0 batteries my brushless ridgid impact can take lugs off my vw passat, but it struggles. The same gun with a 4.0 or 5.0 battery can literally zip lugs off an f150 truck. It barely hammers on them and they give up. and mind you that's with a 1/2" socket adapter so I'm having some torque loss. So to long story short, bigger batteries are better.

I did not see price mentioned - that is quite important. As for the "lifetime repair guarantee" - don't be foolish enough to expect that will not lead to disputes & claim problems. My wife has a lifetime guarantee on her sewing machine (expensive reputable brand). 20 years later & after many repairs have yet to have a claim accepted, "it does not cover normal wear & running adjustments". Still don't really know what is covered!

Sewing machine needs maintenance.....which in turn means tool warranties are bogus.......that is logic if I have ever heard any!

Who will be the 1st powertool company..that will produce a lithium battery, and use the same battery even if the company changes their tools model /style. My first cordless tool set was a craftsman I bought close to 18 years ago, a few years later, Sears went and changed their models and didnt adapt the same battery, even though the batteries pushed out the same specs, far as Voltages & Amp Hours..then to make matters worst..sears stopped selling my original cordless sets battery, forcing me to do an upgrade...and thats when i bought my 18 volt Porter Cable..it came with 2 batteries, a charger, hammer drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, and flashlight....then i went out and bought the impact driver, air pump, vaccum, ..and it didnt occur to me to buy more Lithium batteries for the now expanded kit I have...then Porter Cable stepped up to the 20 volt kits, and till this day, I can't find one Porter Cable 18 volt Lithium no where; theres plenty of Ni Cad batteries, but they dont have the same power, and torque ..SMH.

They get disturbed when a patriarchal, misogynistic, probably a rapist and woman abusing man walks in the room, much less when he actually makes a bit of noise while doing heavy construction. Rant aside, the tool does seem a bit quieter. Maybe not enough for the increased cost associated with it though. As always, thank you for uploading!
