Hello everyone! I appreciate you watching this video. In this video I do an unboxing and comparison between the Cordless RIDGID and DeWalt Hybrid tire inflators that are both under $100. I wanted to help you with making a more informed decision on which one is better for your money. There are advantages and disadvantages to both tire inflators and so I show as much information as I can on both and then run them head to head to show how they square off with one another. Just make sure to give it a 5-10 min rest time in between tires because it can overheat if you dont.

Yeah, that RIDGID one is the right choice. I have an upcoming video where I do something pretty unique with this this inflator. I didn’t just to see if my theory would work. I’ll post it sometime next week.

@@MasteringMayhem Funny ... I looked online at Ryobi first (have about 15 Ryobi cordless tools) and then Dewalt. Went to HD hoping they had the Dewalt. They did, but manual was missing in box and decided I didn't need the other features. So I put the Ryobi in the cart. But then I noticed the Ridgid ... and ultimately got that one. I will be testing more over the weekend. I do have both Dewalt and Ridgid tools. All three are actually pretty good.

I carry mostly Milwaukee and Metabo HPT tools but have some Makita and Rigid where it makes sense Rigid has been bringing in quite a few tools with AC plug in dual flexibility propane jobsite- heater, fan, lights and now the inflator-theynalso make a great review cordless brushless planer that outdoes my old Makita planer that has been a workhorse

Yeah I bought the Ridgid propane turbo heater. Works off of AC power or battery pack. I use my old series 2 Ridgid batteries. But the AC power is sweet. I run that heater out in my garage when putsing around in the winter.

If you like long drive. Get the DeWalt no contest. If you're just doing errands, work, quick travel, or driving around towns. No question, get the Rigid.

Love Ridgid but it's dangerous!! It does not auto shut off and continues to fill air into tire when it's set to 10 psi or less. Why have an option of setting a low psi when it doesn't work!?

I have 2 of the Rigids. However I have problems with the quick connect coming off both on car tires and bikes using the Presta adapter. While I don't have the Dewalt, the screw-on connector would seem to be a benefit to me. I wonder if many other Ridgid users are having problems with the quick connect either leaking or coming off completely when trying to air up a tire?

Yes, The Ridgid connector sucks. I have both brands. The Dewalt is very easy and good.

Good video, appreciate the time you put into it. Obvious comment here...one major consideration for me is 'what batteries do I have now?' I've stocked up on Ridgid tools for a few years now so I have quite a few 18V batteries. While I like the DeWalt storage and blower option, I would need to spend another $100 min for a battery and charger if I don't want to rely on 12V plug exclusively. So personally, I like the DeWalt tool better (even being a Ridgid guy), but not for the extra battery and charger I would need to purchase to use as I intend.

Makes sense. Personally I have the RIDGID in my truck with me and it’s come in handy quite a few times. Yes, the batteries one has is always a big factor in the decision making.

Another reviewer used a thermal imager on the Ridgid and found the following… After 5 min 160F Rest 7 minutes Run 5 more minutes >200F

A big downside for me about the ridgid is the 5 minute duty cycle. It didn't hurt the tool when you went over that this time but it may, it's not rated for that. I wish the ridgid had a 10 minute duty cycle. I don't know what the Dewalt's is but as I understand it it's higher. Problem for me is that I don't have any Dewalt batteries, only use Milwaukee and Ridgid tools.

@@MasteringMayhem Well I'm sure like most things in life they underrate the duty cycle. Can't have it blowing up at 5m30s or else people will all bitch and call it a POS. It also depends on ambient temperature. My guess is it'll run like 15 or 20 minutes before getting too hot, then they chose 5 as a nice "cover their ass" number.

@@MrSlowestD16 while it has a 5 min duty cycle, the unit doesn't shut off at 5 minutes. I believe it IS a cover their ass number. Also a way for them to deny a warranty claim. They can claim that it was abused from over heating it. I have one and it doesn't take 5 minutes to fill the one tire I have that is always leaking. The 5 minute cycle is written in the manual that comes with the tool. You can run it until it dies, which is way longer than 5 minutes. I've seen other reviews of it and this one isn't the only one that fills an empty tire until it's full without cycling the tool. I think I saw one run it from 0-85 pounds to see IF it could and how long it would take. It did it and did it faster than the other ones in the comparison.

@@adriandavis3908 Yea but that denying of the warranty claim and claiming it was abused is exactly what I'd like to avoid. There was another channel that did a bunch of comparisons and pretty much none of them lasted the full time except the DeWalt. It had all the competitors, but it unfortunately didn't have the Ridgid, it was before it came out I think. Nice to know it lasts significantly longer than 5m though. I ended up getting the DeWalt, simply because it's rated for 100% duty cycle in the manual (so they can't claim abuse), it's the quieter one by far (compared to all the competitors, not just this one), and it has the AC and DC power plugs so you don't need to rely on battery if you don't want. I think it's not quite as quick on the fill as the Ridgid, though,

The five min duty cycle comes from not having adequate cooling etc. probably a friction type sleeve or something. Ball bearings will let you run much longer. But still. You gotta go with the one you have batteries for.

I have the dewalt, have never had to use it to fill a tire, it has filled a lot of air mattresses though… also, that exhaust leak though 😬

the ridgid is simple, fast, compact, automatic and manual, it has everything you need without costing that much, so i opted for the dewalt battery adapter for the ridgid, since i have a lot of dewalt tools with batteries but this is my first ridgid

I just ordered the Ridgid Inflator today. I'll pick it up tomorrow. I got it for $49. I've been waiting for it to go back down on price. I'm also a Ridgid tools guy. I have a mix of GEN5X and Octane sets. I also still have my old Ridgid tools left from my second generation of Ridgid cordless tool set. I bought them back in 1997 or 98. They came in a big orange canvas duffel with two NiCad batteries a charger a drill sawz•all, a lightand s couple others That set is sooo fkn heavy compared to the new lithium batteries and the tools construction. Ridgid did exchange my NiCad batteries once their lithium batteries got a bit established., Maybe back in '03 or so. All right mang, good video.

I use cordless tools daily in my plumbing business. Have Milwaukie, DeWalt, Bosch, and Ridgid tools. I wish I hadn't bought the Ridgid tools. They are not as good as the other brands I use. They get hot very quick. And I hate the valve connection on this Ridgid compressor. . Of these 2 compressors, It is DeWalt for the win.

I'm not sure what the warranty is with the DeWalt but I'm a big fan of the RIDGID. RIDGID has Liftetime Service Agreement . Look for the badge on box. You do have to be sure to registered within 90 days of purchase. I started replacing cordless and decided to go with tools made by RIDGID and they all use the same batteries. I have the Impact Driver, Hammer drill, reciprocating saw, 4 batteries and charger.. I have beat the Impact Driver and Hammer drill and they have worked great. Batteries seem to last much longer then you would expect. You have to figure if you use other RIDGID tools along with all of them using the same battery and the LifeTime Warranty which even covers batteries. RIDGID seems to be the only one that offers what I consider the best warranty. I had the Impact and hammer drill for a couple of years and they work like new. No I'm not a salesman for RIDGId and I don't work for HomeDepot. LOL

Make sure to wear ear protection, as those higher Decibels on the Rigid can be detrimental to your hearing, long-term! Just sayin’. For me, I will get the Dewalt, as I have NO Rigid tools, and not wanting to add yet another platform to my already 3-brand platform of great battery-operated power tools that I use!

It does have a 5 minute cycle time. It is printed in the manual. It'll run longer, but I'm sure it's written in the manual as their way to not honor the warranty. Wouldn't be surprised if there is some chip on it that keeps track of how many times it runs over 5 minutes and for how long. I have one and really love it. I don't normally have to completely fill my tires so it rarely runs even close to 5 minutes. I love it! The only thing I don't like is how loud it is!

I just finished watching another comparison test and it appears that the rigid has heat issues it gets super hot and after you finish inflating the suggestion is that you rest it for five minutes to let it cool down the Dewalt doesn’t have that issue so for $30 do you want to go through all of that five minutes at a time and it being super hot needing cool down time?

Isn't it a huge risk to run 2 inflators at the same time off of the F150's alternator? Anyway the Ridgid seems awesome, I just wish the batteries were not so expensive. I really want one, but would have the buy a battery and charger for it which would be an extra $100 (when I need to inflate bike tires and other things where 12V power isunavailable) though it is hard to beat their warranty claims.

The issue is that you are not seeing apples to apples comparisons. If we just take the inflator . The Dewalt runs slower because you can run it under 100psi for an hour or more. The Rigid 5 minutes. Also with all tools it comes down to what batteries you are using

@@tynado1173 its not about what tools win every reviewers testing. Most of the time its by such little margin its not going to make a big difference on the job as long as they get rhe job done. Its more about whats in your budget, what feels more comfortable in your hand/while in use, and which tools last longer. Ive seen and talked to quite a few ppl using milwaukee that have had issues with their tools, and there's even been tools that after they built a good reputation they switched the internals to cheaper ones and made the tools junk. I dont trust milwaukee tools or the company. Never had a problem w dewalt. Also the tools dewalt has been coming out with recently (especially their impact wrenches) have been amazing tools and really powerful. They always felt more comfortable than milwaukee as well

@@jacksmith2315 I work in the trades and our company switched to Milwaukee. So did all our contractors. I've personally had multiple Dewalt fail me. Not a fan boy. Only speaking from experience. Dewalt in the past has released a new tool first, which is great, until Milwaukee, makita, ridgid, etc does it better a month later

It has more features and capabilities but it is slower than the RIDGID when it comes to inflating. I think they are both great, but the RIDGID had a better price and more inflating power.
