As a (former) pro at CoH, who clawed his way to the top 50 of the 1vs1 ladder (with all factions) between 2009-12 i have to say a few things about the performance of both players: To the wehr player, just a few small tips, as you were on the defensive from the get go, due to constant base rape attempts: make sure your vehicles stay out of sticky range and remember to order them to STOP before they fire their gun. The extra accuracy from standing still can be the difference between firing several times and missing or 1 or 2 shotting a rifle squad. The same applies to MP40 volks - chasing after retreating squads with those is pointless. Their terrible accuracy of 45% at close range (when stationary) gets cut in half from them moving and then by half again (down to about 10%) due to the retreat bonus. MP40 volks are best used alongside MGs, where the MG keeps the rifles in place and volks can move in close to fire at the suppressed infantry. Oh and... try to avoid giving orders manually to your MGs. They really dont like to switch targets and can sometimes pack up in protest to your order, which can royally screw you over in some instances (as it did near that bunker/high fuel). To the ami player... oh boy... the base rape was impressive but youve wasted resources upon the second and later attempts. You were so far ahead that you could basically camp every building next to a VP and win, while at the same time spamming HVAP shermans to (potentially) finish the base rape (the HVAP upgrade would also make your pershing stronger, so a win-win). Instead you were pushed back (for reason i will state later) and couldnt take back the lost territory and resources. Theres a reason why ami players should be aggressive but they should be aggressive in moderation. Securing your hold on the map should be your first priority after the failed base rape. That means mines everywhere, some AT guns and light vehicles to support small scale skirmishes from then on. You mustve seen that wehr went terror when their squads health bumps up when theres 2 men left in a squad. Their unwillingness to vet up should be an indication that theyre going t4. You werent ready and youve paid the price. And one last thing - snipers. Was it really necessary to spam them? One vet 3 sniper is enough. More rifles (by 1, up to 5 total, after SY upgrade 2) or a mortar would have made much more of an impact than several snipers. Finally... losing vetted rifles is unacceptable.
In the good old days I used to be a good player of Coh1, now I'm rusty af but I'm trying to get in shape. I would like to play with you. Considering that we are both out of training, we could have a quiet 1vs1 or 2vs2, with no big demands.
Coh1 has the best sound for the Flak 88 emplacement around. That blast makes you feel like you could punch through Shermans all day. Also that epic Grenadier quite "If I known we would've done this much walking, I would've joined ze navy!"
watching this reminds me how incredibly good COH1 was, from the sexy tactical map, to the resource system, to the character and feel of the game itself, well done AE
@@TactDB I wouldn't say it is "sad imitation", they had a lot potential from start, then they nerfed the game so it would appeal to more casual rts players, like they deleted snow and mud effects, they deleted Snowstorm effects, they deleted bonfires to warm your troops. But they made a lot of uprades that I like more than in Coh1, like snipers invisible only in cover, you can see your units up in screen corner, so you can manage your army better, they added revers button for vehicles and "target vehicle" button so your tanks and AT guns wont shoot infantry, they added hopping over fences, they added real time view, so you can hide your units behind corner, add more tactical solutions etc. I love the atmosphere of Coh1 better, Sound effects and dialogue are better, the AI of squads seemed more realistic how they reacted to mortar/arty fires, how they seeked cover when exchanging shot with another squad(In coh2 units just stand still in a group), I liked 3 commander option for every army, not like coh2 where you have 20 samelike commanders. I wouldn't say that Coh1>Coh2, since at the moment I am writing this comment, 940 plays coh 1, 4500 plays coh2 on Steam. But Coh 3 is a focking sad imitation of Coh2.
@@AECoH Oh, that is right next to it. xD My parents bought me AoE1 because of the higher age rating C&CRA got, so I saved up my pocket money and bought it later. Great game. Played it before I got my hands on C&C1, so the story connection between the two was completely obvious to me, while my friends usually had no idea.^^
Please do more COH1 vids. You are the absolute class of casters... haven't even watched this cast yet but I cant wait and I'm sure it will be awesome. Cheers from Philly!
R4ge focused too much on base inspections, that proves to be his downfall. Like sure the first few ballsy base inspections were good, but time and time again they were deflected. Should have just focused on holding the VPs and cutting off the enemy fuel like what he was doing prior.
definitely a true analysis. I think he sort of threw after his VERY close base-invasion barely failed. I lost a tournament game doing this exact strategy once and I know how it feels once the invasion costs you. It drains a lot of "chi" from the commander! The reversal the Pershing caused was exciting though!
wow, what a game...quality of the map is more realistic than coh2! vehicle die animation even more realistic a little bit. 14:15 OMG...this is very very realistic and never happening in coh2. 16:11 vehicle control...need some work... I think coh2 vehicle is heavier. 38:23 AT missile launcher😂. and wow I fall in love with those bikes😍😂.
also the troops. try playing coh1 again. you will notice how impossibly slow everything seems, from movement of troops and tanks to resource income. but slower everything means more strategy and tactics. When they increased the rates of everything in coh2 they replaced that strategic play with "zerging". Germans tanks were also so strong in coh1. was awesome.
"You're dead Kraut!" haha, don't get voice acting like that in CoH 2 with the Americans unfortunately. In CoH 2 the U.S. faction sound like a bunch of depressed robots, no personality at all. Meanwhile CoH 1 has them using slurs they'd of used back in the day.
Still prefer the tiger tank over the king tiger just because its replaceable and a vet 3 one is at least godly enough. Also those juicy stuh 42 and that blitzkrieg
15:25 hahahah that joke was funny. you we're pretty stressed by it. Chill. Only play BKmod. But i see with these healthbars allows way more strategy and micro. EPIC battle! 29:33 you made me replay it 5 times before you said you were wrong 😮💨😂
That's not right AE. The general from Band of Brothers (Wolf Kahler) is the CoH 2 Ostheer announcer. I don't know who does the CoH 1 Wehrmacht announcer, but it's definitely not him (and I'll say for the record that while I generally prefer CoH 1 voice acting, I actually prefer the CoH 2 Ostheer announcer).
Oh Wow I thought it was the other way around!?!? I swear someone super believable told me it was that way around, I have been misled and in turn have misled 1000s it has been an honour serving you all.... BANNG!
the meta in this game in late years is very interesting to me... I see what I would call SUPER nooby decisions being made, but nevertheless great play and a great game! -Stalin from 2007 relicnet
I love this game but I cannot get it to run properly for some reason. No matter what setting I pick, like 5-10 minutes it goes down to like 20 fps with a rtx 2070?? I have no idea what to do.
COH 1 is THE GAME. Better even from COH2 in my opinion , and way better for plenty more recent games. And playing and COH1 mod is probably the best ever game. THQ&Relic create two masterpieces in my opinion including the Futuristic Dawn of war . Am playing both games so many years after and am hooked as it gets .
CoH1 is skill based CoH2 unfortunately was good only during its Alpha time before SEGA takes over and then it turned to be one of the most disasterous games of decade.
The faction designs, the voice acting and the campaign were much better in CoH1, than CoH2 though elements of opposing fronts were also bad, but coh2 did have better controls.
I would say it is Dune 2. And then it was followed by Warcraft, Age of Empires and Starcraft. And probably Command and Conquer is around there, but I never played it. And now, 'thanks' to COVID I returned to RTS after like 20 years, to discover the gem that COH is :)
Ah yes. An age where Wehr/Ostheer T4 wasn't useless in the sense that the unit took up too much pop cap, didn't do enough damage and usually meant you'd lost a lot of field presences by the time you got a unit from it out on the field
@@NoName-kl9pp CoH2 is a joke in every aspect. Every year they patch the game to a level it changes ALL core game designs. Have you forgotten they advertise DLC commanders differently than what they are on store page? xD
@@NoName-kl9pp That is the point, COH2 is not made by the same people mate :) CoH2 is made by those idiots who made Opposing Fronts and TOV and ruined COH1. The original VCOH was made by a different team who now owns a different company called Smoking Gun. If you notice there is a lot of common mistakes between COH2 and Opposing Fronts.
@@Arashenstein Hey, could you explain how OF and TOV ruined COH1? I am new to the game and apart from adding two factions that I barely see in tournaments (seems that the matchups are imbalanced), I don't know what it did that is so terrible :)
the granddaddy of RTS was is and forever shall be the OG Starcraft and Starcraft : Brood War. Don't get me wrong I love CoH but don't go calling it the granddaddy of RTS
