Stay out of my life, government! The bigger the government is the more it has control over its own people. Everything the government touches turns to shit. You should have asked that lady how much it cost for giving out bike helmets? And then let the taxpayers decide whether it is a waste of money or not.
This is why I invest money and set myself up for a nice retirement. Own rentals and invest that money... That way when everyone my age has fucked off their whole life, I'll have enough money set asside that if they decide to raise taxes to 90%... I'll still be rich.
you don't get it uni blab, he would still be getting monthly income off his rentals. He can always raise rent to pay for anything he needs...his tennants can deal with it or go sleep outside. I didn't even get started on equity.

How gov works. A road needs built. Goes out for bid. 1st bid $250k 2nd bid $500k 3rd bid $2.5 million Gov guy asks 3rd bid why he should pick him when he's 10x more expensive. Because I'll sub the job to the first guy for 250 and you and I will split the rest.
I remember doing contracts for my unit years ago. When we needed equipment, we had to contact all GSA approved vendors and get a quote. The vendors weren't cheap by any means. We were pressured by our superiors to buy the cheapest equipment, so we had more funding for other stuff. If we wanted a more expensive product, me and my supervisors had to write an essay long justification as to why it was needed over it's cheaper competitors. I just rambled, not sure how televangelist this isn't. 😂🤣
Tbh it’s not entirely the people fault. Because they don’t necessarily decide who gets to run in the first place. And the politicians also have an incentive to use that money to gain votes rather than help the community. A smart politician will do either something altruistic or greedy if it gets them elected. After all that’s the nature of politics. It’s not about who is the nicest but who is the most manipulative. This is why we the people have to pressure them and no matter how much we support a politician we have to be critical of their decisions. So they understand we won’t put up with their bull.
All that "not a lot of money" adds up to a huge amount of money that was taken from working people. All politicians should have term limits AND something must be done about the lobbyists!
Nothing should be funded by the government, as soon as the government takes control of anything, it goes down the drain. "Not a lot of money" give me a break.
@oldedude51 " innovation and new products and new markets are fueled by "basic science" but almost nobody funds it" is a bullshit argument that politicians use and have fooled the People into believing in order to justify wasting taxpayers money. Politicians think money grows on trees and they want to grab their share to secure the votes for next election.
I love this man. I'm not american, but i miss how american media used to sound and look like. Professional, calm, a bit of sarcastic sass, a bit of genuine concern, a respectful tone for the viewer, clean look, uncovering stuff regular people are not aware of, without painting it like it's the end of the world, and keeping bias to a minimum.
Same, its sad that there is basically no one left like this. The opinion guys on fox stick to the pro-trump stuff (i say as a trump voter), without an inkling of independence. Stossel is the last real journalist by now.
@@Kupcho58 are you seriously suggesting the guy would've said "yea, the blackberry initiative helped" Dude would have probably said, he got a GF/kid/job/couldn't effort it anymore...
isnt recess over? when you get back in ask ur teacher how the government has the money to pay those grants. thats why good governments are ran by the experienced and not the young fools.
beth h lobbyist are not paying for this country, they’re paying for small bribes to select politicians, tax payers are always the majority of the governments income
40,000 bike helmet givin away. If a helmet costs, around here anyway, $5. That's $200 THOUSAND tax dollars wasted and money that your local bike shops lost.
A good helmet like that cost around 25-40$, but since it's government it probably cost them 400$ a piece lol. I mean common they spent 2 million $ on small public bathroom and said it was good deal.
"It's not a lot of money" These people are like small children. They don't appreciate what things cost because it's never their own money that gets spent.
@@bobbob5007 Good could come of it but why does everybody need to pay for it before that happens? That's the thing, normally someone would do the research, prove there is a worth in that line of study. Consumers can then look at that proof and the products of that study and decide if they want to purchase them. The permissions just don't line up from where I'm standing. Government = Could benefit you; must pay for. Market = could benefit you; could pay for. Just like you said, it's misleading because you don't know what the goal or use of such an experiment would be, yet you are paying for it. Even if you were never told about it at all, you were still paying for it (assuming you pay taxes in America). Does it matter if good comes from it if they were going to take your money either way?
Step 1: Claim a product or a service is a human right, or a necessity to the public Step 2: Ask congress for money to subsidize this service or product (of course being sure to ignore any existing deficit, or spending budgets in place) Step 3: When small businesses/ service providers slowly die out; claim to combat this crisis by raising taxes, duplicating existing government actions and programs to create more jobs Step 4: Champion your self in the next election as being a moral leader by taking other peoples money to pay for this worthy cause, and justify it by saying the economic crisis in relation to this product or service has been solved........despite what the evidence might show
When you give private entities all the rights and blame an employee for why they are poor and supress wages how can ppl pay for healthcare and college? youre way off base
When she claimed grant money wasn't taxpayer money I almost had a heart attack. Then of course "but we're saving lives!" gets trotted out. Shocked she didn't say "children's lives" for maximum feels.
All over N.Y. you will see signs that cost hundreds of dollars to make that read something like ," this improvement to your park or this road" etc. And under it the name of the governor and the mayor. But the gov. And mayor didn't reach into their pockets to personally fund any improvements. The taxpayers did. If there is a sign, that's what it should read. This improvement funded by the taxpayers of NY. Politicans using taxpayers money to erect signs to take credit and pat themselves on the back disgusts me.
I have so much respect for the people who do interviews in this show, even if they are very wrong. I feel like politicians and CEOs now would just dodge questions or not show up
"It's not a lot of money?"... They say that until it's their money, then they'll say to leave their money alone. Tell them that the People will vote to lower their salaries and benefits, then they'll cry out, and We'll respond with "It's ok, it won't be a lot of money."
Because Google doesn't recommend conservative videos. If it was about Transgenders, non whites, women, gays or pro leftist ideas it would get widely recommended.
Because the NWO wants to maintain their alternate reality that they've woven for us. So they don't recommend anything that could possibly awaken people to the truth.
Absolutely. And if not, it isn’t a human right to have a bike or a bike helmet. It’s a luxury. Work hard and save up. Tax payers do not owe it to you. It’s insane...
@@abbyor16 Most people don't even use a helmet when riding, they use responsibility. A helmet is just an extra layer of protection, you said it perfectly.
I agree with everything except bashing getting rid of the brown tree snakes in Guam. I lived there for three years while serving in the Navy. That's federally funded on base only and it's to protect service members and their families from these very venomous snakes.
They are not very venomous snakes, but yes, they are venomous and they are disruptive to natural ecosystem in Guam. The real reason is because they nearly single-handedly wiped out the bird population and caused an explosion in the insect population.
“If you look here there’s a lot of people who don’t have a lot of money” everyone in that line looks like they haven’t step foot in a Walmart in years....
Haha wait untill you get to europe, your american "socialists" are conservatives compared to the socialists or even the middle of the ground here. Our governments in sweden or the netherlands spend relatively way way way way more than the us government and their national deficit is much smaller and there is no money hole over here. And those countries don't look like they haven't had any money to fix anything public since the 80s. The pattern I see in the U.S is; We want less taxes! Okay but the government won't do as much for you The people need government support! All right we'll just raise the taxes on the very rich and.... No, we want lower taxes! And so on and so on. A millionaire in the U.S pays a about as much tax as someone who has a nice managing job here...... No wonder the government has no money.f
They're loveable until they start rounding people up for disagreeing with them. Let's begin the project with cancel culture. Anyone who studied Maoist China will see deep parallels of our current events.
I lived in Guam for 3 years and I'll tell you - the brown tree snake is a legitimate concern there. I'm happy the Navy base had measures in place to protect all of our families from those venomous snakes.
That was the one thing he mentioned that sounded reasonable to me on the surface, but I think a lot of people don’t realize that Guam is a US territory
My dad worked for the Federal Government. When he was teaching me how to do my tax return. He said the object of the game was to screw Uncle Sam out of every penney you can, they're just gonna drop it into the toilet.
LOL I remember in elementary school we used to play in one of those money-grabber machines. Lots of fun for us, but probably not for whatever schmuck that money came from
The manufacturer donated the " free" helmets,(and then takes the tax break on the full market price, because they hold the receipts) The grant money (earmarked tax dollars) spent on , filet mignon, hookers, cigarettes, booze and vacation homes.
Meanwhile the overwhelming majority of taxpayer dollars are spent on ‘defense’. You don’t need a reduction in government spending, you need competent politicians who know how to spend money in the most efficient manner. Social security is great when it is implemented well; take a look at Nordic countries, some of the most free and happy countries in the world. It’s just that in the US you have so many idiots in power it’s hard to get anything useful done despite all the money government has.
@@lepewthepew8408 So a majority of the people paying for the snakes removal are not affected by it, and given the current economical atmosphere of the United States, don't you think that money could be better directed? Are the Guamanian people reliant on our government to remove the snakes? If so, then why are they not able to remove them themselves, albeit being one of the poorer U.S. territories given their GDP per capita. It may have stimulated the economy by providing jobs, but to what extent are the tax payers responsible for the United States mingling of foreign affairs? We have to fix the problems back at home before we can help to fix other's problems, something the government seems to ignore in George Washington's Farewell Address.
@@kingramass443 the snakes have devastated the local wildlife population. Plus the snakes have caused many problems for the military base there mostly electrical. And you know how much a money hole the military is. Take any job and multiply 10x.
@@kingramass443 its more like, if you dont adress the snake problem, Guam will become even more dependent on the other states, so you will end up giving even more money.
"Its not a lot of money" She's right! It's not really a lot of money. But just like the millennial who buys avocado toast and a Frappuccino every morning, it sure does add up to a lot of money by the end of the year.
Alex Flockhart I think alcoholism support programs sound great. But I don’t think we have any business doing that in China with taxpayer money. Edit: and to train specifically prostitutes sounds somewhat inefficient. Seems like a more generalized program would be more efficient and help more people.
But like... didn’t he reduce national debt???? Honestly, trump could take a massive shit on the oval table and you’d still be going round telling about how Obama did this or that. He hasn’t been president for years and guess what, your country has gone down the shitter since he left office.
What is sad is to see people in the current climate argue and fight over these idiots in both parties. They do not have your best interest at heart. None of them do. They may have gone in with good intention but they cannot fix your life, they mostly hinder it.
I’m a big fan of public health measures that save us millions and billions in the long term, yes. I would rather pay for a bundle of 100 needles that costs taxpayers $5 than a 30 count of HIV medication every month at $3000 for a patient on subsidized healthcare. Same with smoking. Or would you rather the government never took action against tobacco companies representing their products as safe? Would you rather have them not spend millions to find the companies lied, causing what is now a $3,000,000,000 burden on the healthcare system by smoking every year as the leading cause of preventable death
Actually the immune system study could lead to useful insights and the tree snakes in Guam really need to be controlled. Blowing up the beaver dams is not as effective as paying trappers for beaver pelts, though.
The problem with the Brown Tree Snake has wiped out most of the native birds on the island of Guam. So yes, I believe it is necessary to get rid of this invasive species.
Some of this isn't waste... Some of it is. government investment in research has been done for ages...hell the "discovery" if the new world was paid for government "waste"
Chris Teal everything the government does, a private business can do better because they are held accountable for their spending or they will go out of business. The government is never held accountable because they can't go out of business no matter how much money they waste. And people don't vote for the person who is the most competent and careful with spending. They vote for people who promise to spend money on them. So voting is not a way of holding politicians accountable. It's simply a way for people to get taxpayer money diverted to them instead of other people, regardless of whether it's an effective use of the money.
In some cases yes. Anyways a famous example is the Wright Brothers’ first plane back in 1903. The US government failed to just people with a small shop with bikes and a lot of ingenuity to finish such a feat.
I cant believe the the people in flooded areas in Texas don't fend for there self's instead of depending on the govt? Helplessness See how stupid that sounds.
Ken Jett well..there was.the warrant they served on comrade manafort....that at least shows probable cause for a cover up....besides the quacks on the right never believe in evidence or proof of anything anyway...ie climate science.
Chris Teal Manafort is not the President for one second President Trump fired Manafort back during campaign so none of that has anything to do with President Trump so your argument has no basis. Manafort has problems legally for sure but you can't put that on our President.
Meh, this one is kinda misleading. Of course this projects sound ridiculous, but the shrimp running on the treadmill thing may lead to a discovery about prosthetic legs or some shit, who the fuck knows.
I don't remember when it started exactly. I don't think I got mail from politicians fifty years ago bragging about what they had done. But at some point I realized that at least 90% of the things they were bragging to me about doing were/are things that either made government more complicated or more costly or both. I'm 76 and work part time as a dishwasher in a restaurant so I don't think I'm going to run for any political office. But if you (no, not the other guy - YOU) make even twice as much as I do, please consider running for office at ANY level on the promise that you will vote NO on at least as many bills as those for which you vote YES (bills to repeal existing legislation excepted, of course).
