@@percusskiHi Nick. I hope I word this correctly. The reason I can hear what's happening w/right hand is because I do it. If you play an odd # of notes but one limb plays quarter notes that will happen. I had to practice to get it for a 7/8 groove. I wanted the groove to do that. Also happens in groups of 6 as16ths (paradiddle-diddle)if one limb plays quarter notes. I believe other comment doesn't even realize it.
@@glenndolleck1262 absolutely right, the only difference is on this groove there are 4 possible placements of the ride 1/4 as it moves through one 16th note at a time!
Hi Nick. Haha, I've never even tried the other "placements" but yeah, I know what you're talking about-the e's, the &'s, the a's. Was tricky just to keep the "quarters" on the quarter note- the 1, 2, 3, and 4. For the 7/8 groove I play the quarters as 1e&, 2e&, 3e&, 4e& , the "a's" are 16th note rests. You get that same reversal of "pulse" every measure. Simon Phillips does this as ride pattern against odd time all the time. And yeah, getting used to the reversal was tricky. Really, I'm sending you this reply because the back & forth traffic is good for the algorithm of your vids.
Tip: I don't know how long you've been able to do this groove but try and incorporate rudiments and fills within the time signature. I liked the groove the beginning and that was spicy, but then right afterwards it lost all groove that it had and became stale. Eventually, it sounded really off, heavily impacting the rhythm and groove of the 13/16. Anyway, keep the up the work with 13/16! I would rather not learn it lol
