As a kid growing up in Colombia in the 70's, I made many wooden carts like these with other kids in my neighborhood. We rode them down hill and had a blast. We would design foot breaks, steering columns, horns, etc. It was a lot of fun.
video from 11:14 onwards are from South East Asia specifically the Philippines, not South America. The wooden scooter-bikes are used in the Mountain Province. The motorbike with wooden platform(11:35) called habal-habal, which can carry as much as 8 passengers are usually seen in remote towns,
From Indian Ocean Island - 50 years ago we use to make this type of toys ....I would never imagine that today people use this type of cart for a living in the 21st century.

Did exactly that way back in 1964 for personal Downhill races. Ours were not this crude though but very functional and scary as hell with sparks flying everywhere. Those were the days of FREEDOM & FUN. Greetings from retired South African Boer.

The second video isn't from America. They're Filipinos who earn a living by fetching water (to sell) downhill and ask for truckers to pull their cart uphill The third video also are Filipinos, native from the mountains of Baguio City. These wooden carts are used for transportation of the natives. And to carry light loads as shown in the video The fourth video is still from the Philippines. A modified single motorcycle used to carry heavy loads and to transport people in the most extreme places in the mountains of the Philippines. We call them HABAL HABAL. These drivers were the most talented drivers in the world. Here in our place, they transport logs, rice grain, sacks of coal from coal mines, livestock like cow or pigs, fuels, supplies, you name it. Literally everything
Мы такие тачки на подшипниках в детстве делали, и с горки катались. Грохот стоял на весь район, когда нас собиралось 6-10 таких тачек😂 счастливое детство! Машины ездили очень редко и вся дорога была наша. Сейчас так не покатаешься, очень много машин стало😔
Я тоже их застал, но в тот момент как стали появляться первые скейты (восток, рыбка, роллинг) 91-93 гг. Тачки забросили, пересели на скейты, ездили на них по привычки, после тачек, в основном сидя, с горок. Район был новый и асфальт везде ровный, сейчас и машин много и асфальт не везде ровный. Сейчас скейты другие, с шире разнесёнными колёсами, ездят на них стоя и катаются на удобных для этого или специальных площадках, а мы по всему району носились (повторю район новый был, много ещё даже тёмного асфальта было).

Это точно. Я думал тоже тут Африка. А тут цивилизация 😊 Китайцы дальше пошли они на квадрокоптерах и по канатной дороге в горы возят фрукты, стройматериалы, солнечные панели есть ролики

The bearings sounded dry. They should have packed them with grease before using them. They would have been easier to push and would have gone a lot faster!

I am 69 years old today, when I was a youngster in the mid 60s to 70s we used to make something like this and go down a very steep road. It was dangerous but we go great thrill out of it and many injuries as well and got a hiding for it. But this is ridiculous, to make something like this in 2024 to use as transport.
How can the authorities tolerate such a thing on the roads!? Driving with this wooden machine, which can break apart easily due to friction, is fatally reckless and is a mortal danger for those who drive on this road 😮😮😮😮
Trees are very precious to life long , and to sustain earth erosions , better to use metal scraps n bars..So, rich ppl should donate to save the mother earth. !

It is definitely bringing in more mobility in transportation of goods but on the flip side, with wheels (bearing here) without any rubber cushioning will eventually damage and shorten the life span of roads.

We use to play with those when I was a little kid, back in the 60s. As an adult, I would use the bearings as the centetrpiece for some kind of wheels (bicicle, motocycle, even wood). How will this contraption withstand some pot holes or a dirt road?
