Yes, it was well below freezing when James Weingarten and I began our ride last week on Lair O' The Bear. This trail in particular can be an absolute disaster with people, so the below freezing temperatures played in our favor. I had not ridden this one for more than 10 years and it is far more eroded, and thus more interesting these days. For a blue run, there are some nice sections of chunk to smash into. Although we didn't see any bears, surely they saw us. Always keep a keen eye to the woods. They are out there, looking for weak hikers. Perhaps this is why we didn't see anyone.

I love dry, cold, and clear weather riding! Some of my best memory days of riding have been in that kind of weather. Quiet, awesome traction, nobody around (cuts both ways if you have a problem at ~20°F though!) and no bugs!

This may be one of the funnest looking trails I’ve seen you do. Something about the chunk and wide trail that looks like you could visualize it well and let it fly!

It's often covered with especially oblivious hikers, but it is tons of fun if you hit it on the right day. LOB is an out and back too, so you get some fun tech climbs on the same stuff these gentlemen are flying down.

Your videos got me into mtb. When I first rode this trail about a year and a half ago I asked myself, "Wonder how Nate and his friends would ride this..." Pretty cool to watch y'all rip a trail that I actually understand and have ridden.

Found all the fun lines. Cool to see you make it thru those two tight trees towards the bottom. That is janky. Made it when I had smaller handlebars. Now afraid with 800mm. Nice work.

I think it is safe to say, " We wish we could all ride like James." He elevates any trail he rides. It says a lot that Nate can hang on his wheel to create a highlight reel every time they hit a trail.
