I mainly posted this video because sitting the Trot can an incredibly complicated thing for so many people. and there's really not a good answer of how to sit the trot because every horse is different as well as every person.
It's a process that requires practice.
You find the rhythm for a moment of balance, and steadily those moments get longer and longer.
this is a progression of three different lessons with the new horse that is slightly bouncy and it is just showing you how difficult it can be to finally find that perfect spot where you're in line and your balanced.

I was told to “feel your fat bouncing” and it helped me be lighter 😂 and sit in the saddle and let myself kinda “flop” if you will :)

Lol! There is jiggle involved, but controlled jiggle. For some odd reason we used to call it potato butt, like a sack of potatoes!

@@lonestarwoman hahah! I recall that!! I think some folks don’t realize they are bracing so the feel your fat makes them focus on that relaxing, then as they get better , you work on a controlled jiggle :)

You really have to build your riding muscles to stay in the best position. Again this takes work and training. I'm going to have to make a vid about that soon. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-36LmLrp2Zkg.html Here's using a barrel to start. The saying goes "if your sore after your ride, you did it right."

I just started trail riding last year at 66. However, not often. The horse I had been riding would take off trotting without warning. How do I keep from being surprised by this particular horse?

Congratulations on getting in the saddle! Gaining control of the horse's head and neck and being able to circle to slow down will help. Here's some exercises to practice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o5hTWHxFVso.html

Bitless is a good option for a horse with mouth issues. Check out my types of bitless videos ru-vid.com/group/PL1JF_PZLhWBgljXBlGV2Gu6FMVviZvRnO

I started riding lessons last month and apparently have a "lazy" horse that would much rather be out in the field grazing then working lol. I'm a new rider and have trouble getting her going into a trot. I keep thinking I'm doing something wrong thats making her think " ok newbie I'm not listening to you" any suggestions?

Thank you for your comment. Horses can feel your lack of balance and yes they know your a newbie. Some good lesson horses won't trot at all if you are unbalanced. I hate to say it, but it depends on the horse. You will build the muscles necessary to be able to cue with your seat and add leg pressure. It takes time and practice. Honestly, learning to carry a crop may be a good option, but that's up to your instructor. It takes practice, you will get better. Here's some more trotting videos to help you out.ru-vid.com/group/PL1JF_PZLhWBhkaQ0KZvsFM4jXaPm0edwP Keep up the lessons and keep us updated:)

@@lonestarwoman whats a crop?
@lonestarwoman
@lonestarwoman Год назад
A crop is a short riding whip that is usually 2 feet long and has a band on on the handle to put around your wrist. It's not to hurt the horse, but add pressure if your leg and seat are ignored. But you have to learn to hold it and the reins at the same time without hitting the horse unintentionally. So it's a hand exercise as well. Ask your instructor about showing you how to hold it correctly as part of your next lesson.
