I can honestly say that this is the best and most fierce footage of surfers charging Mavericks that I have ever seen. It's one shot after another and another and another; it just goes on. Wow! Thank you for posting this.
Props to the makers of this video. But this is one of the mildest days where Maverick's has enough juice to break. Not to mention the many shots of everything about surfing this place other than riding the wave.
@@dayneolsen8066 False. Surfing has nothing to do with the stinking ghetto. Faulkner is the exception that proves the rule. Why do you love the stinking ghetto?
Just like ridin' an angry bull...8 seconds of pure adrenaline or 4 seconds of "oh shit!". Wish the prize money was the same. My backyard. Peter Mel is a legend and a class act....
Yeah would prefer to have the live audio but had to work with no sound in some shots and compensate with music, then post in a timely manner. Thanks for watching.
Tough day at Mavs!!! After Mr. Mel's wipeout I could watch anymore 😬 but the footage of the power of the sea is incredible. Prayers for safety!!! 💙🙌❤️🔥🌊
...mmm Apparently its BEST to not wear a brightly colored shirt or vest to help the rescue sleds find you fast when you wipe out and it also makes it harder for people to catch you on film or video !
Not trying to be picky, it looks short, but you're covering more distance on one wave there than 5 waves at a regular spot cause of the speed you get. Even on what looks (comparatively) small or mushy for Mavs. Time spent=short. Distance traveled? You're glad you have a 10' 0" or more for the paddle back. Go get some wherever you are!
Y’know, good question. Pondering on that over here as well. But maybe because Oliver for SB just ate it and was collecting himself there. Best guess as to thoughts like that during editing but was tryna get the edit out asap so not much time to ponder. Just mover forward and get it out. Thanks for constructive criticism 🤙
Never ridden Mavericks but to me your boards look too big and clumsy and y'all tend to go straight and miss some action. But look at the guy at 12:38, that's different, and easier with a smaller board. I get that a longer board helps to catch the wave but I'm just wondering if it can be caught with a smaller one with good timing. I think it might be possible because a lot of the wave catches are happening behind the hollowing and the surfer then drops into it, but a few are in the hollow, which a shorter board should be able to manage. Just a thought. Would love to try it.
I've never liked the music in like 90% of surf videos, especially public domain generic crap. Powerlines takes the time to source and credit original music, and has their own aesthetic which they've more than earned. Do what I do- mute. Or put on your own- how bout a little Honk? 🙄
We have some music gold on tap for the major edits. This was kinda thrown together last minute, working with RU-vid music. Sorry its not great. Will do better. Thanks
@@PowerlinesProductions I'd rather surf uluwatu. Nobody's getting any barrels out at mavericks when it's huge. It's like a big slide wave. The wedge is more fun when it's big.
@@PowerlinesProductions Lol... Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Remember you made a little wise ass comment to me 1st. I will certainly let you know when i'm at Mavericks next 2 weeks in advance, so you have no bullshit excuse. Can't wait Tiddlywinks.
