Based out of Athens, Ohio’s Windy 9 consists of nine exhilarating motorcycle routes that traverse the hills and forests of Southeast Ohio. Have you ridden them? If you haven’t, be sure to add Athens, OH to your motorcycle touring bucket list.
In our most recent visit to Athens, Josh, Kendall, and Marisa set out to tackle Ohio’s Windy 9 and some of the best riding Ohio has to offer. Motorcyclists are drawn to this area for it’s beautiful scenery and twisty roads which make for fun days in the saddle. A group I’m in stayed in Athens last fall, (the football team was away) for a long weekend. Great town; great amenities; great rides on the Windy 9. I’m looking forward to a return.

Awesome guys! We live in southwestern Ohio and have ridden many of the roads that make up some of the Windy9. Like you said, a lot of great riding in Ohio!

I've ridden around the Athens area a lot. I'm going to have to check out the Windy 9. I have ridden the Triple Nickel because I live about 5 miles from the start of it.

The Windy 9 always skips downtown Pomeroy which is probably the prettiest little river town along the Ohio River. On Memorial DAy week-end there is a Memorial Day Run where over 1000 motorcycle attend. Fox's Pizza Den is on a knoll where you can watch the boaters out on the river, a beautiful sight, plus they have a wide menu and every thing is very good. The local McDonalds built a shelter housr right on the river bank for motorycylist ti gather, cool off, and share stories of thwir adventures. Pomeroy is a great little river town built between the rock cliffs and the waters of the Ohio River, It is a MUST SEE.

We have ridden through here and we agree! Pomeroy is a great little town. Lots of neat places to explore along these routes and in the general area.

Great riding for sure. Took a long weekend solo ride from Buffalo, NY last Fall to the Windy 9. Not the best time because of football crowds. But the area was beautiful. Incorporated the Triple 555 on my ride in. Noticed most riders going South to North on it, fully understand why about half way through the many ups and downs and down hill speeds. Amazing. Ended up riding 2 routes Saturday, and 2 Sunday, left for home Monday morning. Missed a lot of the great stops though. Didn’t plan it well like you guys 😢 I make sure to take it slower next time.
