I’ve watched a lot of content from this year’s Gralloch and your footage is by far the best at best I’ve seen. Thanks for the time and effort you put in.
Loved the narrative and footage Dave. Great insight into the event and your personal experience. One subscriber gained. 17 riders on the roadside, my lucky number!
Brilliant race review and a superb result. The wife and I booked it around Christmas time like you. We only got the gravel bikes a couple of years ago. Done a few Glorious gravel events so fancied a race. Had absolutely no idea what the UCI was until I started watching RU-vid vids about the Gralloch. I started in the group after you and like you started off steady (probably to steady) but eventually got going after about 20km. No crashes or punctures and finished in 4hours 52mins and the wife 5hours 32mins. We were both so happy just to finish. Super well organised and the weather was amazing well apart from the storm afterwards which flooded our tent. Defiantly have another go next year and I'll put more training in for a faster start.
Thanks mate. Sounds like you both did great rides too 👏👏👏. Amazing weekend - superb organisation, great route and the weather was the icing on the cake ( pleased I missed the rain 🤣 ) I've got a taste for gravel now so looking at a few events later this year in the run up to Belgium in October.
I saw 17 riders by the side of the road! Brutal Gravel! 😂. Another banger Dave! And congratulations on the placing, I know you were super nervous going into this so it’s great it’s all paid off!
Great coverage Dave. Just catching up today after weekend away at Ride London. More crashes, punctures and mechanicals at the event than Gralloch 😂. I counted 15 but seems I’m way off compared to what others saw 😁
Thank you mate.... I'm not sure either, but the judges decision is final 🤣..... I'll pick a winner in a couple of weeks, so keep an eye on the channel 👍 Thanks for watching.
Another great video Dave. Just out of interest what kit did you carry on an event like this? Do you have a camelback on? Possibly an idea for a future vid?
Hey thanks for watching and the great idea! Much appreciated. I winged it through this one - I had 1 tube / 2 CO2's / multi tool and a tubeless repair kit - thankfully I didn't need any of it.
Good effort! I think it's good to mix up disciplines every now and again, learn new skills that can help on the road or vice versa. I recently got into road riding after mainly riding MTB, which I think has helped with bike control. Good luck for the next one. Think I saw 15 riders on the side, not ideal for them 😅
Yeah I agree mate. I'm looking forward to the next gravel event now... Mental how many riders had issues. I was mega lucky on that front. Thanks for watching 👍
This was actually the best I've ridden the descents on gravel, but I still didn't have the balls to let off the brakes and rip. I think it's more coming from a road background and just not having the confidence to let the bike move around under me on the gravel... Hopefully, I will get a few more rides in on gravel between now and the world's, and I'll be right. I ran 28psi, tyres felt OK... What would you recommend ( I'm 76kg BTW... ) Thanks for watching
@@daveridesagain I’m from an MTB background, but took up gravel about 5 years ago. Run 25psi in my 50’s, but no inserts - think inserts are overkill for your weight. Try a dropper, it’ll give you confidence, and then when you don’t need to use it - don’t use it.
