That is not Thomas. It is the wrong wheel arrangement 2-6-4 and Thomas was 0-6-0. Also, Thomas never had outside cylinders and the side tanks and domes are wrong.

A steam engine train just like my father rode as a young student, on his way to the city to study from his rural village in East Java, Indonesia in 1960s..and the carriage and seats look a lot like the train I used to take as a kid back in 1980s in Indonesia, packed with people, no AC hahaha..wow I never thought that in a very high tech country like Japan I can still see this nostalgic train, a steam engine train that is still running..thank you so much Travelgeek for your amazing videos! And wow the Japanese countryside is so beautiful and so relaxing to watch..I probably will never visit Japan so thank you again for bringing us on the rides around your country!

The railway coaches reminded me on the old German coaches I rode many years ago. They looked almost the same. The toilet was only to be used outside the train stations. Since basicly in bottom of the toilet seat there was a hole only. So the human feces just dropped on the tracks :)

Пересмотрел кучу видосов на этом канале, сложилось представление, что в Японии в принципе нет даже двух одинаковых поездов! 😄Один быстрый, другой чуть медленнее, третий новый, двадцатый старше, этот необычно покрашен, тот элитный и дорогой... два этажа, один... У машин нет такого разнообразия моделей, как у поездов в Японии! 😵‍💫

Great vid once again! So good to see it's your first steam ride. Here in The Netherlands, we have several steam-operated branch/museum-lines, and we have the SSN - Stoom Stichting Nederland, or Dutch Steam Foundation. They happen to be in my own town, Rotterdam; and they ride the Dutch AND German main tracks about 5 times a year. I make sure to be on every single trip. In Germany, we're allowed to reach speeds up to 75 MpH/120 KpH, here in The Netherlands, we're limited to 95 KpH. I say ""our" and "we" because I'm a paying contribuant, and during a year of unemployment 12 years ago; I was a volunteer in and around the trains.

Thomas on this railway is a C-11 class locomotive. There were many steam engines of this type in Japan used for local passenger trains before they were replaced by electric and diesel trains. I was fortunate to travel on some steam trains in 1972 in Kyushu and around Niigata. Thank you travelgeek for your RU-vid videos. There are so many new trains in recent years and I especially like your videos of trains and buses that I cannot ride myself. Have you stayed at the Hotel Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station, built on top of the Kintetsu station between the Shinkansen station and the JR station? I stayed there in 2015 and chose a room looking down at the JR trains at night. By the way, I'm from Australia.

_PAPER!_ oh yay! I beat you for once! 😝 I wonder if the elderly folk in Japan say things which start with ‘back in my day’. Back in my day we didn’t have air conditioning. We didn’t even have bus fare. We had to walk. Up hill in both directions. In the stinking heat. Into a head wind. We didn’t complain. You young folk have it so easy now. You don’t know how easy you have it! 😂 That looked like such fun. So nostalgic. Sad James was destroyed in the typhoon. Hope he recovers eventually. I ran into a Thomas cavalcade in the middle of Tasmania once. Strange place to find a Thomas parade, but the kids loved it. They gave out bertie beetles, lol!

Seeing these smaller, slower Japanese trains makes me remember just how colorful and underrated Japanese railroad history is, especially Imperial/Early Republic-era Japanese railroading before the Shinkansen more or less stole the spotlight. Seeing all the trains you recorded running between hills, past rural estates, small towns, along rivers, it's all so picturesque and I love it. Also, were Thomas' eyes moving? Because I'm pretty sure they moved between shots of the face.

Steam trains are such fun! I was lucky enough to ride on one from the 1920s earlier this year. They had a fancy dining car and everything and I got to have a meal there. Bit more refined experience compared to a Thomas train, but I had the same childlike excitement as most would riding Thomas here in the video. When i first heard that train whistle in person, wow...

La locomotora de ese tren es Tomas, el trencito de la película de dibujos animados de Disney, Bambi, el elefantito volador. Lindo viaje a pesar del recorrido que has mostrado en otro videos pero ha sido un sueño hacerlo contigo juntos a amigo de Bambi. The Thomas the Tank Train was a British book published in 1945. In 1980 the British created a children's TV program called Thomas and Friends. I hope the Japanese have the permissions to make a Thomas engine.

I can assure you that eating raw eggs is safe in most places. 😛 I am from and live in the US and have been consuming things with raw eggs for most of my life. Have never once gotten ill from it. Just wash your hand and, if you're that concerned about salmonella, wash the egg's shell before cracking it. That's where the main risk of salmonella comes from.

I must say while not as accurate as the Thomas replica I've seen at the Strasburg Railroad in Paradise, Pennsylvania in the US; the profile is much more impressive. If I ever visit Japan, I will definitely make a day trip for this and the town used as reference material for Evangelion 3.0+1.01 (I remember reading about it but forgot the name of it)
