You might want to check your trail names before you post... this is not Winze I'm pretty sure its Sandhog. Truly a awesome video but defiantly not Winze, so I was a bit disappointed. I've been hopping for someone to post a full run of Winze as I'm having issues with the middle jumps, but ever video I see is people rolling them and even locals say its not easy. Anyways more of a FYI.
@@KrisYahner yeah the internet was goofy at end few minutes when you were at your camp or True North... I figured that was end. Ill look again sometime. Thanks.
Same in the Mahnomen unit. It's frustrating to not be able to session a trail without backtracking the wrong way. I hope they change that again sometime, but it seems very deliberate.
With everything one way on galloping goose they need to add a loop option at the end of sand hog and especially winzee so you can just go back up and session the descents.
Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure of the decision to make everything so difficult to lap. I saw lots of people just walking back up Winze to ride it again, or cutting back the wrong way on Haul Road.
I agree, but unfortunately the people in charge there don't seem to. We were going back on haul road last time I was there and got stopped by the park ranger. He explained he has been sitting up in a deer stand and kicking people out that he sees doing this. His explanation for not wanting to put a quick return on it is that it would mean more people on the trail, and more people rolling over lips of jumps, and by extension more work needed on the trail. While I get the point, I don't agree with the approach. Not every trail needs to be for everybody. They should put a 10-15' drop that you can't ride around as a squirrel catcher to keep the bulk of people off of Winze. Instead they've chosen to sit in a deer stand and alienate an entire category of riders. Tioga is about the same distance, and better in pretty much every regard (aside from not having a True North type campground nearby), so I'll just be going there instead of Cuyuna from now on.
@@Dandelo19 I was afraid they had some kind of maintenance / traffic related excuse for doing that. I think it's pretty hilarious they had a ranger in a deer stand busting people. Maybe they could reassign that guy to refreshing lips.
Yep, still gonna go backwards. It's basically two easy rolling straights to get back to the start. And yeah... Need a legit squirrel catcher if you're that worried about it.
Your "complaint" was the only downfall I found at Cuyuna as well, all the one way. Yes it makes it nice for not worrying about head-on traffic, but trying to session a black trail, it really adds on the miles to loop around.
Well done as always buddy. Love those three berms in a row! Winze is pretty damn fun. And yeah it’s dumb that they won’t make a return trail. I talked to the DNR guy about it and they won’t do it. He’s even been sitting in a deer stand to catch people going the wrong way to get back to the start and ticketing them. Just make it a 2-way, big deal. Anyways, looked like a good trip 🤙🏻
Thank you! I love those berms too.I've hear that story of a ranger in tree from a couple of people now. I find that an interesting way to solve the problem. Haha!
A lot of people have been asking why Cuyuna doesn't have a back loop option for the Winze and Bobsled trails. I don't know but I live in Crosby and I'll ask around and see what I can find out about their future plans.
Damn man, your camera shots and drone footage are looking so good. Loved the dry silhouette of the bike in the damp red earth. Also, only heard it pronounced once so it may be incorrect but I believe it can be said as “wins”. My favorite trail at Cuyuna now for sure. Sandhog was my favorite before that.
Great vid! Me and some fellas are looking to do a weekend up in that area. Not only for some potential biking but disc golf and some straight-up chillin'. Excellent and very well produced video(s). Been a subscriber since I came across your post up from Duluth!
Nice! Thanks for watching! Yeah, that’s one of the great things about Cuyuna - there a bunch of fun things to do besides mountain biking, so it’s a fun place to spend some time.
Solid as always Kristofer. Winze is a great, much needed addition to Cuyuna. Hoping to see more variety there as I feel they have the "friendly cross country" fully covered.
This is some of the best MTB content I've seen. Love what you're doing. Had an awesome time in Cuyuna this last weekend. I can not agree more thst the descendants need to be sessionable.
I was just up at Cuyuna on Sunday. I cleared only about half of the jumps on Winze. Super fun trail! I need to get more confident jumping. Second time riding Cuyuna and I love it up there!
New this year, but it's been open for months. It's over in the Yawkey Unit, off the Haul Road. There's a link in the video description to the Trailforks page for the trail.
A solid day for sure. It's tedious process of setting up the camera and running back up the trail and then repeating that 3 or 4 times. But still a lot of fun.
So awesome. I would assume the weekends are a bit busy up there. What does a night in one of those go for? That place looks sick. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching. You can get alot of people on the trails up there in the weekend, but it's a big trail system. I've never felt like the trails were too crowded. The cabins are pretty reasonable. The prices fluctuate but right now I think they are $133 for weekend nights and $85 for weeknights. They sleep 4 or 5 people. They have cabin tents and campsites as well.
@@KrisYahner thanks. I just looked them up. With the help of your link. I'm fighting with Walmart.com and Pacific cycle now. So no bike. I purchased two boundarys for my son and I this spring and it was one thing after another breaking. Trying to get my money back. Boo hoo for me. Love your videos. Keep em coming. Thanks
I saw this brought up on their facebook page and it sounds like they hear the complaints pretty clear and have a loop/return planned for Winze. Now when that happens your guess is as good as mine. Winze is great, and their new trail they are adding sounds like it will be more tailored to black diamond as well which is a nice change for the system there.
@@KrisYahner They have been teasing it a lot on Facebook, but no real pictures or much yet. They planned to have it open for Ormegeddon, but with that cancelled they still plan on getting it open for Fall edit: facebook.com/cuyunalakesmtb/posts/3203669853042110 This is the latest post about it
Thanks! I appreciate the support. If you're looking for a good deal you've got to check out the MSP bicycle trading post on facebook,. Lots of good deals to be found there.
