Great video. I moved to Florida 4 years ago and never imagined mountain biking here let alone good singletracks. Like you said I was also thrown for a loop.
I grew up in Ocala and I loved riding these trails and watching then ad more and more features now that I live in the Atlanta area I often take weekend trips back to ride there def check it out if you're in the area but I suggest you go with someone who knows the trails well bc there's just so much good stuff
Looks like you guys had a great time. Hopefully I can get healthy and start riding harder and harder.. Gotta check out this park, only 1.5 hours away..
Santos is such a fun place! Missed the fat tire festival unfortunately, I was out of state and ended up driving past on I75 on the way back to Palm Beach without time to stop. This is sure making me wish I had stopped, though! Looks like it was a great time.
Love central Florida rider… we are a tight family and we may not know each other by name but we seen each other on the trials a million times and know each other by face lol…. Be safe and see you all seen lol
I took a trip to Ocala to visit family and rode Vortex for 2 days. Was sooo much fun, and a nice break from Illinois weather. Thanks for making this video, or I would have never known that my grandparents lived 10 minutes from the trailhead lol
Man I love going back and watching these videos! I have been watching old videos from you, Alex, Brian, and Phil. Yall are some awesome dudes that really help spread the joys of mountain biking. I really hope some day I can run into you in Pisgah! Once this Corona is gone I'll be heading that way.
This park looks awesome and also make me jealous. There are some mountain bike parks around Melbourne Australia, but nothing like this level from my knowledge. Love the vids, keep up the good work.
Santos is the best mountain bike park in Florida, hands down. The very small jumps at the beginning of the vortex are my favorite because i can perfectly jump them on a XC bike. You really need a longer trip for the vortex though because it has so much to offer.
Hey Seth, you know what I like most about watching you ride? It's your ability to bail and take a fall, then get back on and try it again. It's a skill I'm not sure that can be taught but an essential one to have nevertheless. Now that I think about it I would love to hear your thoughts on it and what goes through your mind in the split seconds before, during and after a crash.
Have you been to alafia river state park? It has a lot of advanced trails and is in Brandon, FL. Also it is very close to Balm Boyette Trail. Both of these have enough to last you all day long. Not as long of a drive as going all the way to Ocala.
This is I think the 7th video in a row Ive watched and finally Subscribed. I know .Im lame that way,I should"ve after the 1st one I watched. You and Phil Kmetz Ripping it @ Santos Park i will definitely check it out on my way out to my brothers house this fall. Nice flat air on that last Jump, you still killed it! But Phil...wtf...owned it, fast as hell! Kool videos Seth, fun, never too long and always seem to learn something weather I wanted to or not. Keep up the good work! 2w
Awesome vid! I live on the West end of the Santos trail, my back gate opens to Tricycle Trail. I'm about 20mins from the Vortex pit and I'm usually out there every weekend, especially with the crazy heat and humidity, I'd rather hit the jumps (which are going to be expanded soon as well as a flow trail being built) over riding the trails, at least until it gets cooler out. Next time you should try the Nayles Trail loop (about 10mi), it's pretty damn fun. Hoping you come back to make some more content at Santos!
Seth I love your video's!!!But can you please make a video or tell us which gopro mounting technique you used to make the video.... All the way from Namibia,Africa
I just rode the Vortex loop the other day. I had no idea these trails existed. Most of the features are still there but looks like the big corkscrew is gone.
Definitely need to hit up Santos sometime soon. What are you using for stabilization? I don't think it's software, as I see what I think is a slow gimbal turn towards the end while you ride a wood berm.
Bugger. Now I really want to ride on our family trip from the UK to Florida in August 2018. Any tips on where I can hire a decent bike and some kit for the day would be much appreciated. Re the weather/heat - better to ride early morning or into the evening?
Thats in Ocala? i used to live in Ocala about 6 years ago and and i never knew about this. I live in Colorado now so im not lacking on mountain bike trails though
Just wondering how do these trail ratings rate up to lift access parks up north. I've seen a lot of your videos and a Diamond in some of these looks like what we'd see on a beginner track on a mountain. Looks fun though, just not as technical as some of the signs seem to point out.
How do you set your suspension and tires when you ride mtb park. I was demoing a yeti this weekend and cased pretty pretty hard and was having a hard time with control. A guy at the park said my bike was too loose. When i ride park should i lock the suspension out? Or just stiffen the shocks. Or lock out the front and keep the back open?
You know what would be super cool, Seth? If you could show which gear you are in, at a given moment. Hahaha i still have a difficult time choosing a right gear and when to be shifting to be most efficient. Just a thought and keep up the good work.
i have a question seth. i have a dirt jumper diamond back syncr right now, i do trail ridding up in arizona at a trail park but for my next bike i was not sure if i should get rear suspension, i love my hard tails though. im not sure if i will do down hill riding in the future yet but i dont want to buy a hard tail and end up going to do down hill. which bike would be best for me a diamond back syncr pro or a diamond back mission 2?
The best parks in FL you need to check out are Loyce E. Harpe.(aka Carter Rd), Alafia River state Park, and Balm Boyette scrub preserve. The last two are within 5 min of each other.
I know I'll probably never be able to go there because I live in Phoenix as but are the dirt/wood jumps suitable for a bmx?(I know this is a late comment but help me)?
Just purchased a new mountain bike and I'm using a lot of your tips to help prep for trail riding. Also, if I by a shirt do I get a "love note" with mi package
+Ben Battista As soon as I get the chance I want to do a Northeast tour...after all that's my home territory. When that takes place I'll definitely be reaching out to subscribers for some meetups!
Seth ride rays mountain bike park in Cleveland Phil did too a while back and I think he really liked it. It's a lot of jumps, but it has an advanced section I think you would really enjoy.
