I met my sister and her husband up in Susanville CA where we took a spin on this lovely rail trail. It's the perfect high mountain landscape and excellent for gravel bicycling.

📈 The stats: 29 miles. 1900' climbing. Almost 4 hours. Susanville elevation 4200'

I never knew about this trail, it sounds like it was enjoyable. I guess the train tracks were used to move freight years ago?

I think the tracks were for logging. And some of the connecting trails were from mining, too. They're developing old mining trails for biking and hiking all over the "Lost Sierras". Beautiful, in spite of the fire damage.
