In this installment of an impossible route, film, Jeremiah and Tyler take on the death roads of Bolivia mini I’ve done the 20 mile or 32 km section of the youngest road, which is known as the infamous death road. But Jeremiah and Tyler are not like most, and took on an even bigger challenge, riding three days from La Paz Bolivia over the tall peaks down to the jungle, and up the death Road and beyond to Chacaltaya at a lung crushing 17,000 feet.
Three days of adventure cycling through Bolivia turned out to be one of the hardest projects of this series, and one that tested both the physical limits, the mental capacity and the friendship of our two main characters.
We have never put these behind a paywall, and on this one I kept the story AD FREE. so if you thought this film was worth a cup of coffee, here’s my PayPal, it truly goes a long way - www.paypal.com/paypalme/vegan...

First off, I want to thank Jeremiah for turning me into a completely different human than when he found me. Despite the friction over the last episodes, I will always love JB and forever be grateful to what he has done for me. I also want thank you, so very much for making this series come to life. 11 completely free films over 4 years has been/will be the greatest accomplishment of my life. Your support has made this a legacy. The last thing is this one airs as AD FREE, no mid roll ads to get in the way. If you felt like this was worth a donation, it goes to help cover the crazy costs behind these projects of passion. www.paypal.com/paypalme/vegancyclist ❤❤❤

I understand the competitive spirit and like handling your trauma through sports and stuff (hell, I was a collegiate athlete back in my day so I get it), but man... when you're on such a beautiful route and doing something epic, "friendly" competition is like the limit. Seeing JB just need to be the biggest wang at every moment along the way kinda detracted from the video, and I'm sure made the experience in real-life a bit of a bummer. I know you try to present these videos in a positive, fun and truly awesome light, but several moments in this were a tough watch. That being said, what a fucking adventure. some of the scenery, the gold mine incident, getting insane coffee at a toll station in the mountains... I would give anything for that experience. Great video VC!

You know these Impossible Routes aren't just about VC, right? VC wanted to get a free ride on a truck for 10 minutes, very much against the spirit of actually doing a hard ride when a person is just holding onto a truck. Meanwhile his friend and riding companion was some feet back and not getting a free ride and having to work his ass off to keep up. Then he got pissed and just put in a hard effort and passed the truck. Me personally I don't see the problem in that. They both made decisions in that moment, one to hitch a free ride on a truck and the other to put in hard effort and just drop the guy hitching the free ride. Since VC does the edits he doesn't really tell JB's side of the story much if ever, so one must be aware that they are watching a video primarily through 1 person's point of view.

Completely agree. VC is so much more enjoyable to hear from and watch. Jeremiah seems like he was not loved as a child. Kind of sad to see him act out repeatedly. The adventure was cool, but truthfully had to turn it off a couple of times because of him. Great adventure. Maybe find a different partner VC?

JB is a guy who failed to win at the highest levels of competition and feels awful about that, so now he goes and tries to show everyone that he’s some hot shot climbing a mountain. Like you’re smoking a dude you’re supposed to ride with, what kind of awful human being does that?
@flowlineproductions

You guys are reading too much into this. Any of us would do the same thing as JB when on such a ride. It's brotherly competition. That's it. JB was just ribbing VC. JB puts in the work and has always been an absolute beast. He has the gift that most of us don't. He has carried VC along for several years now and VC has gotten SOOOO much stronger, but sometimes the teacher needs to show the student who's boss......and what's possible.

I think you and Jeremiah should do a post IR chat video about the trip experience, etc. Maybe talk about some of the comments, because I have been watching these since the beginning, and I feel like either I'm missing something or people have the wrong impression (I thought a lot of it was a joke, because from the get I have only ever heard praise from Tyler for his racing accomplishments). For one, I think hearing about the experience outside of just the bike would be neat, and I feel like it'd clear the air if there was, or wasn't, some tension on the trip. I think the IR series has been really great for each of you and for us viewers. P.S. In case some people aren't aware JB works for Canyon and has been a friend and huge help for Tyler for years and Canyon supplies the bikes and produces the videos!

@@editdroid99 all the above. We have to capture when the crew is not able to access. I see a lot of critical comments directed toward Jeremiah. From his perspective though, JB has clearly put in an enormous amount of effort, both in terms of planning and logistics, as well as toward training and altitude acclimatization. It's clear that Tyler was less prepared, which he mentioned was his decision (and how can I criticise a man for wanting to spend more time with his family). I don't think JB is in the wrong for wanting to push at his own pace and reap the fruits of his labour. This is not some random weekend ride. These guys will most likely never come back to Bolivia to ride these roads again. I don't think that JB is obliged to wait for Tyler at every turn, and if I were Tyler I wouldn't wish for my struggles to potentially rob JB of his chance to fully realise and complete this impossible route challenge. This is not to say that JB acted perfectly, or that he couldn't have been a better riding buddy. We are all human, with human motivations and human egos. It's important to realise that this story is told from Tyler's perspective (whose storytelling is always gracious and impartial imo). I think that some people who are trying to read between the lines are too quick to paint JB as a villain rather than just another human being.

It’s too bad because this is a cool story, a well made doc, with a bunch of unnecessary fake drama. JB didn’t have his camera stolen because his Strava post that day has the footage. Tyler making himself look like Rocky at the end is comical. It’s just too much and honestly ruined a good video. Maybe they need the drama to sell.

Got to be one of the best impossible route. Only let down is all the shade in the comments against JB. He rides bike. He is there for his own personal experience and the juxtaposition between the two makes these videos. Who doesn't want to do their best climb on a 17k ft assent. Put the hammer down! Great job to both of you and the team. Thanks for the legendary content.

feels like JB isn't such a dick like many in the comments paints him as. sure he's competitive and have flaws in decision making but the rivalry & everything else is built up to have more exciting story & for a narrative that juxtaposes the different styles of our two riders.

@@rubricalchunk1831 You're inflating by saying he worked for years as if he put so much effort to make this one work, he didn't. It's not one silly mistake. It's multiple choices that are horrible. 1. You ignore the guide. 2. You ignore your good sense. 3. You leave your friend to fend for himself after you put him in that situation, and you go hiding. 4. You play it off like it wasn't a big deal and can't admit responsibility. Reminds me of the type of excuses that cheating partners make, all those years of trust and then 'just one mistake'. There's a lot of thinking time and bypassing good sense to arrive to that 'mistake', it's not a one moment thing, it amounts to hours of being a PoS. He's an irresponsible manchild, and it's unsafe. Nothing more, nothing less. It's pretty obvious to see.

first off.... superb cycling video!!!!!!, especially filmed in a country where, as someone commented here already, can be caricatured with the typical scenes shots of the indigenous / local people. Great choice of music as well, and beautifully shot!!!! Having grown up most of my childhood in Bolivia, I can tell you that while Bolivians are very warm and friendly, there are areas that if the local people warn you of, PLEASE take it seriously- there's are cartel- whether its drugs or mines etc... and it's no joke. They do not care who you are or where you're from. You are disposable in their world. I have cycled in parts of Bolivia, and while I enjoy a non guided bike ride, i definitely adhered to one there including a local driver - they know the roads!! Love ALL your cycling videos and your narration.

You do an amazing job in every single one of these at capturing even the small moments within the rides, the positives and negatives during fun and challenging sections, mental states, everything. Yet you just keep pushing no matter how sore or tired or delusional you may be. It’s incredible to watch and I’ll forever be a viewer and a fan. You inspire me to never give up and that’s probably a huge reason why I’ve never called it quits on anything I’ve ever done. Appreciate all the work you put into these man, and I’m not sure I agree with all these comments. I feel JB gives you motivation to always be better, because he’s constantly working to try and be in better shape than you. “Work like someone else is working 24 hours a day to take it all away from you” it’s a huge motivation factor if you enjoy that challenge and I think you welcome it! Rock on man 🤘🏼

Great video! Thanks for visiting Bolivia. Sorry about the miners’ incident. Probably speaking Spanish might have helped a bit. I was born in La Paz and raced Leadville in 2022 (I know Jeremiah raced the same year). Grew up riding my bike on these mountains, including racing downhill from Chacaltaya (the highest point in the video). I miss those roads as I now live (and race) in the flat lands of south Texas. Just being at 17,000 feet elevation is a huge task for anyone who comes from sea level. I think the last climb to Chacaltaya should be on the bucket list of any cyclists claiming to be a climber. I am not aware of any other longer and steeper climb.

Thank you for putting this out there - I've been following the whole series and I've often felt it perfectly captured the excitement of challening biking adventures not least because of your storytelling. : ) I hope it's okay if I voice two things, however. I mean it in a constructive way and of course it's okay to disagree. Firstly, I'm starting to feel like the series is developing in a direction that is getting less relatable: The Impossible Routes have always been hard (and they should be) - but they mostly felt like something trained cyclists could give a try with propper preparation and commitment. But when you're riding around with a car entourage of guides, drone pilots filming you and medics that have to constantly check your blood oxygen level, I'm just starting to disconnect from the experience even as an avid cyclist. I guess it's a case of "more isn't always better": The drone shots are nice, f.e., but I'd take just GoPro footage any day if it facilitates a more relatable experience - one that actually could still be called a cycling story. This is starting to feel a bit like "The Grand Tour" with bikes, where as a viewer I sort of stop taking anything at face value because the production value is so center stage. The other thing is more of an observation than a criticism: The toxicity between JB and you made this one almost hard to watch. I contemplated whether it was part of the show, but so often in the film, both your body languages suggested it wasn't. I'm aware this won't be news to you two and that you'll have talked about this at length and ended up consciously including it into the film - which I actually kind of appreciate, even if it was uncomfortable. I just hope you both find a way to figure this out in the long run. ; ) Cheers! I'm excited for more! : )

I really think using altitude to put down your “buddy” is low and would make me question if I wanted to do adventure rides with that guy again. Spending two weeks in Colorado just to make sure he had an edge? And then giddy to see how had your oxygen levels were? Cool bro!! But I thought the point was to do hard things in beautiful places together, not embarrass and punish someone with a family who simply made the mistake of riding well against you previously.

I really really really tried my best to come into this without Bias, and I like to think I did. But man the truck scene was kinda the straw that broke the camels back for me. In my eyes, this series started with the audience and riders all knowing that Jeremiah was a stronger rider. To avoid going into more and more detail I’ll just say it’s an unattractive trait to fell like you’d need to prove that in such a way. My only hope is that the ending of this series doesn’t take away from what a PHENOMENAL series this was. Thank you Tyler AND Jeremiah for enduring such feats to give what I’d consider the best cycling series to date. ❤
