Few extra info for those interested... The L0 was announced and began testing back in 2012-2013, with this maximum speed of 500km/h being reached already back in 2013. Since then it has gone through repeated endurance and speed tests, reaching the record high of 603km/h back in 2015. It has gone back and forth between public rides and testing, and one major upgrade from L0 Series to Improved L0 series. Construction for the actual first commercial available to the public line which will go from Tokyo to Nagoya and then extended to Osaka has been going on since 2014. The first section up to Nagoya is planned to be finished by 2027, and originally the extension to Osaka would require a pause for JR to recover from extensive costs and planned to be finished by 2045, but because of a Japanese government injection of funds, it's now planned to be ready by 2037. The speed and tech is impressive enough I guess, but for me what truly makes the whole Shinkansen system so amazing is it's reliability and... erm... track record. The foresight Japanese people had when building such a complex, expensive but extremely useful system back so many years ago transformed not only transportation, but also culture and lives of the entire population in so many different ways it's hard to make a full acknowledgement of it all. I had a couple of opportunities in riding those a few years ago... as a foreigner living in a developing nation, I imagine that every foreigner that rides it starts imagining how life would be different for themselves if they had access to transportation like that in their own countries (well, unless you are from another country that has a similar system, that is). Let me tell you that being a single child from parents who moved to a different state away from our extended family, having once or twice a year trips - every single year since I was a kid - by car or bus that takes 16 to 19 hours because of horrible road conditions, every single X-mas/new years' period which is right in the middle of extremely hot and humid summer down here... life would have been substantially different if we could just take a comfortable Shinkansen ride every year to visit relatives instead. xD I'd likely go more towards enjoying and actually anticipating the visits rather than being overcome with dread and anxiety when the date approaches, not only because of the expectation of enduring the long trip, but also the fear of accidents and problems happening during it, which we have far too many to count already. And then, now that I'm living cross state from my mom, who is at a pretty advanced age and with a few health issues and limitations but still doesn't wanna move in with me (nor I want to move back), if we had a reliable and fast method of transportation between our cities that would certainly solve a whole ton of problems. This coming from a single person experience, there are so so many more problems that are solved and opportunities that are opened with an advanced transportation system like this that the price tag feels very much justified. The benefits for an entire population are too many to count. In my head I'm talking more about the entire metro and subway system in Japan I guess, not only the Maglev Shinkansen... but it's all connected, right? xD Anyways, thanks for sharing! I had been very curious about how the maglev tests had been going, and it's super interesting to see it first hand like this instead of only articles and official material... xD

Electromagnets. China just unveiled a hanging train that can carry 88 passengers and currently travels at about 50 mph using only rare Earth but real magnets primarily requiring very little power to operate while this high-speed machine relies primarily on high current and perhaps superconducting magnetic technology that requires a lot of power throughout the duration of travel. Hopefully there will never be an accident at speed. How quickly can it stop as a 9.0 plus earthquake strikes is part of its design. No sleeping on this train as it gets you there before you can close your eyes. Will solar panels eventually enwrap the railroad right away ultimately to make this a green train that sells power to the grid rather than consumes it? When it gets to that point it'll be perfect and subsidized by The electric company through wholesale sales while offering lower rates to customers on both sides? I hope they have vision with clarity and success.

They work their youngsters 12 hours a day 6 days a week, even if 4 of those 12 hours are just whiled away doing nothing (literally - you can't go home until the clock strikes 9 even if you finished all your work for the day 3 hours ago). No wonder their population is aging.
@CST1992
@CST1992 Год назад
@@zAlaska Even if you use natural magnets rather than electromagnets, the natural magnets will eventually get weaker as the internal structure changes due to the resistance offered from the outside. There are no free lunches. BTW, do you know strong electromagnets are used to manufacture modern magnets in the factory? In other words, the opposite procedure to that is exactly what is used to *make* magnets.

@@allentoyokawa9068 lol why the fuck would you say no? China is also a beast in trains, right now, they're maglev trains are neck to neck with the Japanese, going 600 km/h as well. Also, many foreign train tech is built by China. There a re various examples in Africa where China built the rail way systems for them. China's high speed railway network spans 37.900 km, Japan for example only has 2,664. You could argue that Japan is smaller and thus doesn't need more, but that still doesn't mean China is not close or in many aspects already has overtaken Japan in many aspects. I'm not a commi, nor a fan of the Chinese Government, I'm just stating the facts

@@energeticstunts993 lol while japan already achieved exports since 1950s. Another fact that Chinese HSR had 2 fatal accidents while Japan none. How vast the network is, they are not profitable unlike Tokaido Shinkansen which is money making line.

in end 2016 i rode on the fastest currently operational maglev in Shanghai, and that train was crazy loud and absolutely terrifying when passing by another maglev running at the top speed of 400-ish km/h. Compared to that maglev this maglev is so quiet and unbelievable. truly japan makes amazing technology. edit: hello fellas, all this post is saying is that the shanghai maglev was far noisier than the L0. fast train is fast and go brrrrr edit edit: to clarify, the ride is only momentarily scary when the maglev traveling in the opposite direction passes by with a combined relative speed of >800km/h, which for context would be like getting buzzed by a cruising-speed commercial jet whilst standing still. the rattling in that passing-by is very loud

I’ve been on the Shanghai maglev as well. Do have to remember though that the Shanghai one is a lot older than these trains in Japan so I’m guessing things have improved by a lot between the construction of the one in Shanghai and the one in Japan. I rode at 431km/h on the Shanghai one when I rode it in early 2007, amazing experience imo

this train is really incredible! personally i think it will still evolve park that 603 Km/h is only 29Km/h more than the old speed records made by us the french with our TGV in 2007. i really think when 2027 the Maglev will make much more (800-850 Km/h) and it will create a new means of transport in the world a kind of hybrid between the train and the plane.
